I had horrible teachers until my 8th grade year, the dresscode is really dumb, sometimes I find veins in the school food, and sometimes it isn't even cooked. Most of the time there is too much work and the grading process is so slow.

Our Experience with Carver Middle School has been absolutely wonderful. We had heard so many negative comments about this school but decided that we would go and check it out for ourselves and we are sure glad that we did. Both of our daughters have thrived and were/are at the top of their class. One is no longer there because she has graduated but her experience was great as well. It was because we had the support of the teachers and because we made sure that we kept in contact with them that our daughters were able to succeed. It was like one of the counselor said when we toured the school, “you get out what you put in.” If you invest in your kids then your kids can/will succeed.

Terrible. Do not move here. It’s a bad school. No moral with students. Kids have no outside time and no incentive to do better. My children have not been asked to read a book since 6th grade. They teach milestone only. This tells me teachers are not adequate

I'm currently an 8th grade student at Carver Middle school, about to go to highschool. I've attended CMS for 3 years and there are some things that I'm sure parents are unaware of. There is black mold growing on the ceiling tiles in multiple classrooms because there are leaks in the roof. Sometimes classrooms smell strongly of mold. This has been an issue for about a year and a half. The rest of the building is terribly maintained as well. There are cracks in the walls where snakes and mice have gotten in, the bathroom walls are sticky, faucets are broken, and there is rarely toilet paper or soap. Bathroom doors and locks are often broken as well. The school is understaffed to the point where teachers have to teach 2 subjects (their main subject + social studies). This leads to teachers teaching subjects they're inexperienced in. Gifted students have been heavily separated from the rest of the school and each grade is also heavily separated, forcing students to be around the same 30-40 people the whole year. Lots of the staff is rude or seems miserable. There is no student council and the school ignores complaints, so it is very difficult to make a change to the school. Nothing is ever done about these issues. Despite strict rules, many students still struggle to learn because of behavior issues. The school has gotten rid of many events and programs (Gotten rid of drama program, dances, etc.) and students are generally treated like they aren't people. There are some good things- many of the teachers are friendly and try to engage students in learning, and there are very few fights/drug or gang related activity. The school is supposed to get some major updates this summer, so let's hope thing improve.

Teachers seem to really care about students, and the administration is always ready to listen to parents and help solve issues. My daughter has had a great learning experience the past 2 years at Carver.

Carver has always been compared to other middle schools in the county and have gotten a bad rap. My two children have both went through Carver and I have found no problems in the physical building and teaching the standards.The vast majority of teachers went out of their way to help my kids succeed. The media specialist works well with the teachers to maximize and coordinate with lesson plans.I've discovered that while Carver has its share of problems, it is not Carver itself. It's the natural snottiness of preteens that pervades the school. But all middle schools have that hormonal problems.

I am a 6th grade student and my year was anything but perfect. Let me get straight to the point. Carver's FAQs promises recess before or after lunch, not true. After lunch my class would go right back into the classroom while others got to go outside. Also some teachers, don't take the time to teach they just hand us book work and are done. Also discipline is obviously not enforced. In my class people threw paper airplanes and bouncy balls across the room, and all they recieved was a strike. Lastly I want to address dress code. While I completely understand why it is in place, it is a bad system. When a student gets dress code they are sent to ISS or home. How is it that another students education is more valuble than that person you jusg sent home. I get that dress code is supposedly a distraction, but to me instead of worrying whether a students skirt or shorts is an inch too short, they should focus on the people who are constantly throwing things across the room. Also if a students clothes are dress code don't punish them my taking their learning time away from them, because basically you're telling that student that his/her education is worth less than another students.

What is going on at this school someone needs to investigate!!! Why kids can put their hands on each other, then told they have to learn how to take up for themselves!!! Please some one investagate before something bad happens to a child!! What are the steps a parent needs to take to report things that are going on in this school and action will be taken!! Plse tell me someone cares about how the childeren are treated and how problems are handle, does anyone in the school district care about the childeren at this school!!

Staff is rude and principle & vice principle think it's acceptable, very sad. Cant wait until my kid is out of there. Now i believe him when he says that lady is mean, i womt doubt it again.

I am trying to have my children's schools changed so that they wont have to go here. My daughter went to Carver for 3 years, A, B student but horrible teaching. The teachers, Asst. Principle and Principle really dont even want to be in the classroom with the kids. They are there to relax. It really is a joke that this school exists. There have been boys in the bathrooms waiting on others to come in just so they can punch them and push them, daring the victims to do something back...all of the boys and staff know of this. However, parents don't find out until later when they see marks all over their children. Staff just blows me off. I am not exaggerating! 504 programs are not recommended because, "there is a lot of paperwork involved". (Even when the physician does recommend it) I have actually been asked to increase my childs medication rather than 504 plan. I guess she didnt see that he had already lost weight. I have done everything in my power to change schools but no help. Worst and most unsafe place to leave your child. I would mark zero stars but am forced to mark atleast one.

Carver Middle School seems to be fair in dealing with problems. Maybe alittle slow in letting us know there is a problem but over all handle problems well. The school is always clean and office help is very nice.

I work at CMS, and it is absolutely true that all students will be receiving Ipads in the 2014 school year.
