Both of my children attended school from k to 6 here. They are both very different. I've had good and bad experiences with teachers. I think it all depends on the teacher and how well equipped they are. I've struggled with my oldest since kindergarten with his attention span and behavior. Some teachers have more patience than others. I will say it was the more seasoned ones. They were willing to get him on an IEP, counseling, helping with plans at home to reinforce good behavior when staying on track. Then it seemed like a newer teacher to the school had nothing but bad to say when he started a new grade. After having improvements in the previous years. Not to mention the then vice principal (who is no longer there) telling my oldest he needed medication to stop day dreaming. Then called him a liar when confronted about it. But since having passed that grade and getting rid of that VP it was smooth sailing. The Vice Principal now Harvey is amazing. Never had a real issue with staff since then. There were some issues with bullying but quickly resolved.

Rating a one star due to the fact this site needs a rating.Academically:My son is Autistic and ADHD and the School will not put him as Autistic in his IEP. My son has shut down at school, walked away from staff and refused to come in side. Yet the are not allowed to say he is Autistic casue he shows not signs. The pass it off as his ADHD. My son's academic grade level is at a first grade level and he is in 3rd but yet they do not want to support him in any other way. They told me they are giving him the tools to succeed. Yet he tells me that his own resource teacher talks hard to him and gets mad if he dont know how to do it correctly! The school is just pushing him forward. With no education at all. Social and emotional: The vice principal told me, He just needs to be on time and attend school. My son constantly gets bullied since he has started two years ago. I even had to send him to the hospital once. This will also be the 2nd time he gets threatened by an other student that, the student will shoot my son. My son has cried that he dont want to go back. He gets anxious. My son goes to school late due to the fact my son never wants to go to school. But yet how do you expect any child to want to come to school wanting to learn and trusting the school he will be safe? Yet time and time again he gets hurt and has not support academically. My son comes home and does not want to leave his room, don't want to do anything. I have seen my son bright eyes dim because of this school. In my opinion this school deserves Negative 100

It was good for the most part other than there was a lot of favoritism with some of the teachers and passed principles.

I would have to say all the ladies in the office are very nice...Most teachers are very nice..I would have to say the down fall to this school is the Principal...I really wish they would get another whos more caring and more into the kids at Martone being successful rather then put a child down and make them feel like they wont ever be successful.

I went to Martone Elementary School from grades K-6, and am currently in college now getting my degree in education. I still go back and visit every summer to say hello to those teachers that remain there from when I was young, that are the very reason I decided to become a teacher. This school has wonderful teachers, a great family orientated atmosphere, and since it's a smaller school, I always felt that each teacher I had, always gave me the one on one time that I needed to succeed. And not just because they felt obligated, but because they loved their job! I hope that I can one day teach at Martone, and that I can have the privilege to work alongside such wonderful, dedicated people.
