Cyber Village has been an excellent school for our kids, so far we’ve been there K-7. The school is truly a community where teachers and staff are deeply invested in children’s well being, social development and learning. Our kids excelled during the pandemic as Cyber Village was already prepared to teach by distance as needed. Our kids were able to go to the building 3-5 days a week frequently throughout the pandemic and go 5 days a week now. The school has also moved to a very nice and larger building this year.

Cyber Village Academy has been an amazing school for our son! The school has multiple resources to individualize a student's academic as well as emotional needs. The model of having 2 days online has helped our son build his organization skills and allowed him to become a better self directed learner. As an advanced learner with ADHD, CVA has been able to help our son have a more positive schooling experience because of their model, programs and amazing staff. They are a smaller school with about 15 students in my son's grade level which allows for a more one on one time with his teachers. My son has been attending CVA for 3 years now and will continue through high school. In his words, "It's the best school in the cities!"

We love CVA because of the small classes and because it is a blended learning model with students online two days per week...I am able to work with my son on his assignments and really know what is going on at school at all times.

It has been amazing being a student at CVA and I have loved a lot of my time there but there are systematic issues that simply are not being addressed. I have been at CVA for half my life and I respect most of the people that work there but some of them clearly play favorites, are sexist, show differences in treatment of students of color, and more. People report these staff and nothing is done.

Truly a hidden gem with some of the best teachers I've had the pleasure and privilege to interact with. Cyber Village is a model school of the future with a blend of onsite and online learning and a good measure of rigor to bring it all together. This school is effective because of it's teaching staff and culture and I highly recommend it.

I think that it is a great school for many children, if they are good, or disabled

The on-line HS program has college level coarse material. The Moodle program used with the students is not adequate requiring the student to prove their attendance and that assignments were completed. Teachers do not know the material covered in assignments. Tests often included material that was not covered in the assignments. The coordinator does not respond to questions/needs in a timely manner. Often times more than 1 email or phone call needs to be made. Report cards are not complete, showing only some of the classes that were taken. Class grade scale (#of students and grade breakdown) was not provided when requested. If your student is not HIGHLY organized and EXTREMELY motivated there is no chance of passing. This was the worst experience for my 10th grader. She had to fight to receive credit, prove her assignments were done by taking pictures and emailing them to he teachers. She received Ds in English class by a teacher that the Director explained was having "issues", and my student is a solid A student and loves English. The teacher would not correct her grade even though the problems were addressed in a meeting. 10th grade Math classes are college course material and the teachers refuse to admit it. The program encourages cheating. I would not recommend the Cyber Village Academy on-line HS program to anyone. My student did an outstanding job to pass the year. She sometimes had 44 assignments per week. Often times she would plan her week out only to find that 20 assignments were dropped towards the end of the week with no warning. She spent hours doing assignments that the teachers admitted weren't even required they were just there as a guide to pass the tests. The only class that was of good quality was the History class. That teacher as able to use her own materials and program but no other teachers were able to use the same program she was using due to some grant. The school staff was not receptive to our concerns. I regret having my student attend Cyber Village.

My child is in the elementary school. My child loves going to CVA and uses the study center a lot on Thursday and Friday. They are always happy to go to school every day, always want to participate in the school events, and loves their teachers. As parents, we have had great relationships with the teachers and use a lot of the online resources with our child at home and they are even available over the summer for free to keep the learning going and not see regression. The administration has been great and very responsive. CVA loves quirky kids and we love CVA!

This is a great school. I have 3 boys who attend and they all love it. I like it due to the teachers; they expect a lot and help the students learn to be independent and responsible. They are very good working with kids with special needs. I love the small class sizes and that the teachers know most if not all the students in the school.

CVA has a lot going for it. (1) Flexibility: your child can be on campus five, three or zero days per week depending on which educational model you choose. (2) Size: small classroom sizes mean more individual attention for your student. (3) Leadership: want an approachable principal who greets children at the door every morning, sends you a weekly e-newsletter and cares about your child's success? Come and meet Dave Glick! (4) Fresh Air: my kids get recess every day, my elementary-aged child gets Phys Ed on every school day, and when the weather is good, my kids even get to eat lunch outdoors. Kids need exercise and fresh air to learn, and CVA doesn't skimp. (4) Diversity: the real world contains people from all walks of life and a child who accepts and embraces difference will get along better in the long run. CVA's motto is "We love quirky kids!"

Both of our daughters have attended CVA. Our first daughter started in 3rd grade and will graduate this year. Our younger daughter has been there since 2nd grade and started high school this year.We have seen the school grow and our daughters thrive learning not only substantive material but time management and other skills they will need to succeed in today's world. The public school system is broken and CVA is positioned as a model help our kids.

Both of my children have attended CVA, and we have been parents there for 8 years. While there are some struggles because it is a small K-12 charter, the staff is very responsive and many of the teachers and staff have been there since we arrived. We love that Science Fair and History Day are school-wide activities and that there is ample opportunity for kids to be involved in clubs, activities, talent shows, etc..A couple of years ago, we had a parent focus group session for accreditation purposes. In almost every instance, parents had brought their kids to CVA because they had been bullied at other schools. In many cases, the kids themselves asked to go to CVA because of their reputation as an open, accepting environment.I am a very happy CVA parent.

Online charters typically attract 1. Pre-professional kids in piano, skating, other and need the flexibility of an online school while valuing discipline/high academics. 2. Those who did not for whatever reason, fit into traditional school and can often bring a host of social/behavioral issues with them (and parents who expect the charter to deal with the demands) & can greatly affect the school culture and quality of the class experience. CVA seems disproportionately saddled in middle and high school with the latter. This strains the social fabric and strength and lessens joy daily in relationships. We experienced great differences in work load and communication with teachers. Sometimes wholly insufficient and totally overwhelming with unrealistic goals for the child resulting in much stress. However, the headmaster seems very willing to improve outcomes/child experience and work with families, but he results of new planning remain yet to be seen. Teacher quality runs the gammet. One female in particular is a bully. Outdoor play and offline experiences need to be more highly emphasized for better well rounded kids, as do hand crafts. Children learn through authentic play.

This is our first year at CVA and we couldn't be happier for our 3rd and 5th graders. The only challenge is for families to figure out how to orchestrate Thursdays and Fridays which are online days, but the study center is open so if kids do need to be school that is always in option. Other than that, it is full steam ahead! Project based learning, teacher collaboration, open communication, students working at their own pace, friendly kids, small personal classes, no bullying, great teachers, great leadership. And cool projects for such a small school -- science fair, history day, project citizen, mini-society, school musical, talent show, community volunteer fair, PE and art/music every onsite day, field trips. We could not be happier! It's like a private school hiding out as a charter school. Kids do pull from all over the Twin Cities so it can be hard to connect with school friends and other parents, and they're working on that. There is also a learning curve with the technology and tracking projects but we got the hang of it after about a month and my kids are producing great work and so independent on Thursdays and Fridays. They are empowered and confident. Love CVA!

Our student started this year and LOVES this school. The teachers are all involved and great at motivating students to learn. They do a great job of communicating with students and parents when concerns or questions arise. They readily see not just where the students need to improve, but also their strengths as well. They really focus on the learning and research process--connecting ideas, concepts, discussions through several disciplines. Since starting this school, our student has not complained once about going to school, which is WONDERFUL because other schools were "boring" and went at a too slow of pace. This school allows students to proceed at the pace they are able to and places them where they are at academically (not by an age or grade level). This is great because students might be better and learn more quickly in some subjects than in other subjects and this allows them to reach their potential. The online class days are very specific on expectations and assignments but teachers are avail. to answer any questions.

CVA is a great school! It s very personal. The teachers and staff are extremely dedicated. They have been very flexible, patient and supportive in helping my child through a very tough couple of years. They are very responsive to the needs of individual children. I think they are almost as excited to see the improvement as I am. The small size of the school promotes a close and positive environment. The teachers are very involved and spend a great deal of time outside of the classroom leading various extracurricular activities including sports, clubs, music, camps and even trips out of state. CVA supports the kids on project such as Science Fair and History Day by breaking it down, giving weekly assignments to progress through to the end, and supporting it throughout the curriculum. They really teach them HOW to do it. They don't just assign it and say 'Have it completed in 3 months. See ya then!' The school promotes community involvement by encouraging community service and compassion for others. At the end of the year there is a community service fair in which the kids share their experiences.

My son just started school at CVA this year. He was miserable at his old school last year so we wanted a school that had smaller class sizes and would work with him on his anxiety issues. He loves school, loves the teachers and is excited about learning again.

This school over the past 3 years has impressed me more and more each year. The environment is very much so like a village. It's a smaller school and the classrooms are not packed. My children get the attention they need and they love their teachers. The kids learn team work, they do so many great hands on projects and are learning more than I ever thought they would. One of my children is receiving some special ed services and the teachers are so in tune with her that she is surviving very well and gaining more and more confidence every day! I could just go on and on about all the great things at this school, but I guess it's just better if you visit and check it out for yourself! You have to see it to believe how great it is!
