I am terribly sad to leave such a scathing (but accurate) review because there ARE some wonderful teachers here who go above and beyond for their students. However when yr 7 yr old is put on the wrong bus and ends up lost in DT Mnpls for 2 hrs on the very first day and things just get WORSE after that...Bottom line I didn’t feel safe with her there, she didn’t feel safe there and developed intense anxiety and even her academics took a serious turn for the worse within just ONE yr (after a great Kindergarten & 1st Grade experience.) NOTHING was really done reg the transportation safety concerns and it took at least 6 months to have anything remotely done regarding the bullying (which then was just circumvented to different classrooms.) I tried very hard to have my concerns heard and I got nodding heads & pats on the back but no one truly cared. It was a terribly sad experience after such high hopes.

Absolutely top rate. As a teacher myself, I am so highly pleased with the level of dedication.

Very encouraging experience in Kindergarten. Impressed with how the teachers stressed inclusivity within the classroom. Impressed with teacher's ability to differentiate lesson plans to accommodate learners at both the top and the bottom end of the academic scale. Excited to see what future years bring!

An incredible Kindergarten Experience with great specialists. A new Principle that has been very positive. As a public school teacher myself, I am most comfortable with my child attending Northrop Elementary School.

Good teachers, but they are overpopulated. Some kids are sent to school without knowing the alphabet, while others are at a 2nd grade reading level when entering kindergarten. Environment of school seems positive. Staff is welcoming, but could communicate more effectively. Trying to get evolved in PTA but meetings are hard for us to get to.

We love Northrop. Wonderful community, happy kids, involved parents, teachers who love to teach. Our daughter is thriving.

Northrop is a rising star in the Minneapolis School District. Proof that quality teachers who are empowered by excellent servant style leadership can really make a difference. Consistently ranked among the district's highest performing schools. I have two children in school there and recommend ti to everyone who asks.
