The culture starts with the principal, and frankly Hite’s principal, Dr Barnett, is unprofessional and not terribly great with children, particularly in the older grades. She gets defensive and sometimes dismissive when addressed with problems and concerns. Lately she has taken to using her video newsletter to criticize parents and give unsolicited parenting advice. I would characterize the education my child has received as adequate, but only barely. I would not recommend this school until and unless the leadership changes.

Excellent school while Mr.Hagan was principle. Since leadership has changed we are no longer viewed as a high standard " distinguished" school among middle schools. Hite used to be a distinguished school along with the Nortons, Stopher, and Bowen . Found this out while trying to apply to traditional middle schools and told by staff less students would be given "spots" from Hite as our academic standards such a test scores and overall academic standards were not as in the past. Honestly I have seen a huge change for the worse since my older son left 5 years ago and now I am concerned my youngest will not be competitive enought to apply for the Mezeek, Barret, and Noe. Not impressed with the Crosby middle school path either. Didn't realize how subpar Crosby was until my middle child went to another middle school that really had their act together compared to Crosby.

This is our first year at Hite and we couldn't be happier. The Principal Ms. Barnett, teachers and all staff members are exceptional. Parental involvement is great! What a loving environment where my child can thrive academically.

I have had a child in Hite for the last 5 years (2 kids the last 2 years). I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff and their care for all of the kids there. Hite is blessed to have children from all backgrounds and all ability levels, yet they are all treated with care and respect. The teachers are very good about bringing any concerns they have to the parent so that any concerns can be worked on as a team. I have only seen a small handful of any issues with students needing discipline there, but the few problems I have witnessed were handled very quickly and clear expectations and boundaries were made known to the student, yet they were still treated with respect. Hite is also blessed to have a great deal of involvement from the families of students, but I think that is because we are made to feel welcomed and cared for as well. If I could be assured all the schools my children attend in their lifetime would be anything like Hite, I would breath a huge sigh of relief!
