Im a current student a middle town middle school. Im an 8th grader. I do not recommend this school at all. There is severe racism, homophobia, ableism, bullying, and lots of drama. Everyday in middle town middle school i hear atleast one white kid saying the n word or some type of slur. No one does anything to correct the behavior or the teachers dont hear it. Most students just laugh it off and pay no mind to it. I dont feel safe at this school. Ive been harassed and teased by other students, mostly boys. ive reported things to the principal but no severe or really any punishments happen.I dont enjoy going to school and i hate it. Ive heard RAPE jokes everyday at this school from the boys, doesnt sound safe does it? They say it as a joke and its weird.Im tired of this school and dont enjoy it, i hate this school.

Middletown Middle School has serious issues related to student harassement. Cyber bullying through the use of social media is at the core of this problem. Boys and girls are using cell phones and social media to attack and harm our children. There are new laws in place now thanks to Jerry Brown that will go after the children who use Facebook, Twitter, etc to harm our children. Childrens lives, and families lives are being victimized by the children who propegate lies and assertions. Very dissapointed with MMS, the children, and their parents who are involved.

MMS is a very nice school for the "New Kids On The Block". My child came to this school in the middle of the second trimester and when another kid tried to bully her, my child e-mail her teacher. Her teacher took care of the bully from the start. The teachers do take care of bullies, making the learning experience a safe and enjoyable one for my daughter. This school IS a "ZERO TOLERANCE TO BULLYING" school. This school spend more time in actual teaching (love the hands on science experiments with Mrs. K.) than punishing the kids for bad behavior. I feel my daughter is safe and respected by her teachers and peers. Thank you, God for MMS.

This review is for the school year 2010-2011, when Dan Morgan was principal. I was impressed with Mr. Morgan's leadership and responsiveness to disciplinary issues, although I had heard a contrary opinion regarding managing a bullying problem from another parent. He seemed to command respect from both parents and students, was well-liked by the students, and compassionate when it was needed. I volunteered to chaperon two school dances and was able to observe both Mr. Morita (an outstanding teacher) and Mr. Morgan at work. Great guys. Thad Owens is now principal but I can't post a review yet. I've met 4 of my son's 8th grade teachers (incl. his science teacher Jennifer Kelly, CA Teacher of the Year in 2011) and they seemed to have high academic expectations - a good thing. His 7th grade teachers were also generally above average. Many parents fret over middle school, but I think MMS and the quality of its students are well above average.
