As a charter school, Micanopy Academy has to be the worst in the county. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. I am shocked nobody has spoken out before, but they are likely too afraid because their child(ren) go to this school and may have no other affordable option. The administration is a joke. The principal and vice principal are in desperate need of an educational intervention. Essentially, they run the school as of it is a private school sans regard for any written protocol in their own handbook, let alone Alachua county rules and regulations. If you want adults to speak negatively about your child, this is the place for you. If you want your child to be a part of their "silent lunches" where if you talk or ask for a napkin, you are immediately reported and given detention. Abusive behaviors abound by the faculty and administration. Forcing students to clean the cafeteria as punishment for detention, does not mesh well for many parents. Many of the teachers are not certified in the areas in which they are teaching, because academia is not a priority here. This location should be closed down.

MMS is a great school. Its staff really care about the students and their well-being. The students will not get lost in the crowd due to our class number ranges from 18-22. The teachers are well equipped to provide the help our student need. Our FSA and EOC scores are great. We are offering virtual school, Spanish and a STEM program this year.

My child attends MMS and she loves going to school. She rarely misses a day. It is a small school with teachers who have time for their kids. Even the principal teaches a class. Students have teachers who go the extra mile for them and with no extra pay. Discipline is good as kids can learn better with fewer discipline issues and teachers can teach! My family loves MMS and the staff. Thankful for the good test scores.

MMS staff is always willing to help any child. The new principal has gone above and beyond to get the school out of debt this year so the staff can get back to what is best for the kids. The grades reflect the great education the students are getting. God Bless MMS! We Love MMS! Citizen

Horrible administration and teachers. DO NOT send your child here if they need extra help or accelerate in school. One of my kids struggles in school and was looked down upon and ride comments made to him by teachers especially the new principal who was a teacher at the time Ms. Lowe-Phillips. She's horrible if in her words you are "one of those". My other child went from honor roll all his life to failing everything and getting in trouble because school and curriculum wasn't challenging enough. Switched back to public school mid year 2 years ago and both kids are doing great! My one son is getting the extra help he needs and my other is back to being an honor roll student.

I am very pleased with the teachers at Micanopy Middle School. They know what they are doing and are very helpful. I am very glad that my child goes there.

I really love the friendly, family-like atmosphere of this school. I did not want my daughter to go to a large public school where she would get lost in the crowd. MMS is very small and the teachers and staff really care about each student.
