My son attended McGlannan from the middle of third grade through sixth grade. Since transitioning to mainstream public school and now at MAST academy, he has earned straight As and much teacher praise. He is a very bright child with serious dyslexia and ADD. We pulled him from Sunset Elementary in the third grade where he was struggling with reading and the homework load. He thrived at McGlannan, although it wasn't always obvious to us because there were no grades and his standardized testing did not show significantly improved results until his third year. I was frustrated at times with the lack of extracurricular activities at the school and the sometimes wishy washy administrators. I always felt that my child had so much more "mojo" than he could express in the McGlannan environment. I found the classrooms a little bleak and some of the teachers boring. And at times, he was called in for disruptive behavior in class. However, as we were advised by other families, the school gets results and the kids come out so well prepared for mainstream school. My child is excelling beyond our wildest dreams (so far...) and he has attended two different public schools since leaving McGlannan. He still struggles with spelling, but he has an IEP and the teachers are happy to work with him in the public school setting. Most critically, he is able to demonstrate his higher order thinking skills and he is not deterred by his dyslexia. Although we didn't always feel it while our son attended McGlannan, they do an amazing job with the kids. My child did not miss anything by having fewer classes, less homework, and no FSA testing. The streamlined, less distracting environment may seem boring to parents, but it works for these kids! Every child who was in class with my son is now excelling at their new school. Really! If you can manage the price and the logistics, McGlannan is worth it.

This school saved my son. He was diagnosed with dyslexia after being held back in first grade. He was so discouraged and was starting to feel dumb. McGlannan gave him the attention he needed as well as having the expertise in students with reading problems. I bless God for this school.

Excellent School!!! Hands down. The proof is in the pudding. I've had 2 kids go through there and both are doing great. My son who is now in 11 grade has 4.0 GPA in all honors. This is a kid who would tell me he was the dumbest kid who know thinks he wants to go into the medical field. Full of confidence and The first month he was there in the 3rd grade he told me that he was finally learning. Priceless!!! Trust me that they know what they are doing.
