We have been lost at this school since we are new to the school. There is no much effort to engage students and parents who are new to the system. I have read previous reviews and comments from other parents. Apparently, they had a great principal , in the Middle School. The new principal is fairly described in the previous reviews. Someone3 who does not take criticism, a little bit disorganized. I keep learning about the school by emailing staff directly because no orientation was provided whatsoever. The only orientation was for the students. The quality of the teachers vary as well as the quality of the content. It is not much more rigor that magnet public schools, so far. Yes, kids misbehave with many teachers. Interesting to note this in previous reviews. We do not the president well so far. He seems to be very smart. It looks like the Conservatory pays more attention to HS than to Middle school .I still do not know if recommend this school to others. I would say yes for now. Strange that they do not have book. I heard from the President that it is because of money. I thought that it was because of philosophy of teaching.

The new principal is far friendlier and caring with the students.

This was once an amazing, professional and great school to be with top rankings up until last year. Then the president of the Archimedean Board fired the principal over the summer without any explanations to us parents and since then everything has gone downhill. It is more than obvious and without a doubt, that the prior principal was the reason the school was so successful and with her leadership the school received two national Blue Ribbon awards while the other two schools barely got one but their principals are still there. Even other parents I know, sit and openly discuss in the parking lot or on chat rooms their concerns about the development and the direction that the school is taking yet they are afraid to do anything about voicing their concerns. This school year started and I cannot emphasize enough how the quality, the professionalism and respect this school once had have now deteriorated in such a short time. Probably because the person in charge and running the show (behind the scenes) is no other than the president of the board who walks around stating that he is the board and if we don’t like his decisions we should leave. We will take his advice and leave since he does not care about our children and their education. Furthermore he chose as the new principal a man that is no better than him with the same bad qualities. The school now has plenty of issues with students (bullying, swearing, etc.) and they are out of control since there is no discipline. Furthermore, the quality of the education has suffered since many of the qualified teachers have left. I even noticed that the environment of the school has changed and has become toxic. If you had asked me last year I would say without a doubt to take your child to this school, now I tell you to stay as far away as possible because you will live to regret it. Many of us are looking to take our children elsewhere.

We thank our previous principal for her leadership and for inspiring our children and the teachers to work hard and get a second Blue Ribbon. Unfortunately she is no longer in the school and will not be able to celebrate this great success with us because the president of the board fired her a few weeks before the school started. This is such a terrible situation. AMC is the only Archimedean school that got two Blue Ribbons and the principal was the best leader for so many years, we had the best and safest school, and he fired her. Now he hired only guys to be in charge of the three schools. AMC is not the same. The new guy is not a leader and does not know what to do, many good teachers left and the ones who stayed seem lost. The students are misbehaving and there is no learning. We are looking for other schools and we worry that our kids are falling behind but the president does not care what we think. The good days of AMC are gone and the performance of the school will never be the same. We do not want to stay and find out how bad the scores will be at the end of the year.

I have been with the Archimedean Schools since Elementary Kinder and I love it. Mostly because it is safe for my children and now with middle school it is Academically challenging too. If you are not willing to let your child put in the extra effort or take primary education seriously then don't consider this school. They take learning and growing very seriously and they want every child to shine. They are dedicated to finding every child's strength to help them become better and build self confidence.

My child has been at Archimedean since Kindergarten and is now in middle school and we couldn't be happier with the quality of the education she is receiving and the culture of community that she has learned being part of this great family.

I feel my son had a wonderful experience at this school. He was able to meet both students and teachers who were passionate about learning and maintaining a high level of excellence.

Great school. My 3 kids have attended AMC! The principal is a great leader and is surrounded by an amazing group of teachers. The school offers a safe and nurturing environments for the students.

There is no other school I would send my children to, and I feel very lucky that they were able to get in. The principal is phenomenal and keeps both faculty and the students on their toes. It's ironic how many of the negative reviews focus on disciplinary matters. My assumption is that the individuals posting these reviews found themselves in positions they shouldn't have and are still reeling from the consequences. We have been very impressed with Mrs. Moysidis' tactics, her principles, her persistence, and above all, her refusal to quit until all of her students succeeded. Thank you for a wonderful education for all of our children, even those who don't seem to notice how lucky they are!

I graduated from AMC last year and I agree that it is not for everyone but I wouldn't use that as an excuse because that goes for every school because every school has a unique way of functioning. Archimedean, however, takes uniqueness to a WHOLE other level. The homework is excessive, but not entirely impossible to do (it has its moments). The teachers have gotten better over the years, I can only think of three to five teachers that it's highly unlikely for you to get through to once they form an opinion on you. Once you figure out how to act around that teacher and you know how they work, it'll work for most of them. The REAL problem is the principal, she's a nightmare. I understand that kids, especially at the ages of 12-15, should be disciplined, but that's not really what she does. She'll suspend you for ridiculous reasons and act tough, but when an actual situation occurs, she does not know how to handle it. She acts like she knows everything, and maybe it's the arrogance and ignorance that clouds her judgment, but boy is that lady something. Teachers even change the way they act when she walks in the room. Once you hear her heels in the hallway, everything is dead silent. If you report something to her, report to her three more times and MAYBE she'll do something. I was once had a horrible teacher in 7th grade that failed almost everyone. This is no exaggeration: more than half of my class went to the principal about once or maybe even two times a week to complain about him. Did anything get done? Nope. Last year there was this teacher that would form an opinion on the students over little things they would do and hold it against them throughout the year. He spent half of the class making speeches about how he learned in class when he was a child and basically bragging about how great he was. Who cares? Will that help me in life? It's not like the material he was teaching would've helped me either way but come on. He once spent a whole class insulting a student and telling them all the teachers thought they were absent minded. Who does that? And did the principal do anything about it? Nope. That lady doesn't do half as much as the vice principal. Just stay clear of her and it'll be fine. One thing I'll say is that I learned many life lessons there and there are truly amazing teachers at this school. Once you know how to act, it's really not that bad.

Our daughter has made leaps and bounds both academically, and socially at AMC. She is a new 6th grader to the school and words cannot express our appreciation for the teachers. They make her feel loved, welcomed and they always provide a safe nurturing environment. She has the full support of all her teachers and peers. The education provided by AMC is one of a kind!

Dito! Major nepotism in the school. was convinced and impressed the day I attended orientation. However, when school started, all my expectations and content with the school were erased. I agree with a previous comment that your child will be pulled from class and given indoor suspension without notifying the parent. I left several messages and emails to both the teacher and the principal, which were not answered. I plan to make an appointment with the school board to show that this is NOT proper behavior for any school's staff. I had to force my way to see the principal by going to the office and telling the receptionist that I was not leaving until I saw her. This is more of a boarding school where they treat your children as if they were criminals and liars. I agree with a strict curriculum and punishment but this goes too far. This is my child's first year at AMC. My child has excelled throughout previous years and received high scores on his FCATs, however, he is failing this year. I agree with another review, my child has also developed depression and emotional problems attending this school. This is NOT a happy place.

The high test scores this school brags about are everything that a parent would hope for but it IS NOT what it seems. Tutoring as they call it on Saturdays is mandatory.. Equivalent to a Kaplan course for the FCAT, the children put in an extra 50-60 hours toward preparation for the test? If it's so academically rigorous, why can't they score accordingly like the rest of the county? The children are threatened with 10 detentions for each Saturday missed. That's missed lunches by the way. Upon withdrawing my child, I was told by teachers & other staff to please let the board of education know; to do something!!! They said they see perfectly good children come out of the elementary and once they hit middle it's all downhill because of the principal's methods. With a charter school, you have no recourse with the county should a situation arise. We switched to a full-gifted program that is equivalently challenging and my child is so much happier. Don't make the mistake of thinking that the low rating reviews are exaggerated; for your child's sake and yours.

No, This school it's not for everybody!! It is a very demanding school, not only for the kids but also for the parents! That's why my kids go to Archimedean because I want the best for them and with all the pros and cons this school is doing a great job. The principal is very strict but that's how you have to be when you are dealing with rising teenagers. Saturday school is not mandatory but if you want to be the best you have to work hard! and that's what they teach the kids...

My daughter is in her first year at Archimedean Middle Conservatory. We are amazed at the kindness of students and staff (even though the teachers can be strict at times). We love the way that they teach at the school, although it may seem quite overwhelming. Yes, they are told to attend Saturday tutoring every week in the months before the exams, but only certain days are mandatory. The school also asks the students to attend Wednesday tutoring and stay an extra hour in the afternoons. Again, not all days are mandatory. The consequence for not attending the mandatory sessions is a detention during lunchtime but students are NOT deprived of their lunches. All the school is trying to do is confirm the success in your child's future. It is true that it is not for everyone, but anyone can succeed anywhere if they have the drive to.

(continued #2) I'm a student in....... In Archimedean Middle Conservatory they teach you greek, which helps us exercise how to learn a language, greek math, which helps us learn where some math came from, and philosophy (ethics), where students learn to do the right thing. In Archimedean we exercise our brains and actually work unlike other schools. If you want to be in a school to succeed I highly recommend Archimedean Middle Conservatory. Another thing parents/students might complain about is that the principle is to strict and I can agree on this but no school works with non strict principals or teachers. My principal, Mrs. Moysidis works very hard to help us succeed in life and if there is any problem or conflict in our school even if there it's something little like losing a watch she solves it in one second as some people may call her she is like the agent of our school. This school is the best school in the world. If there is any complaint of people's children not doing good in this school it's not because of the lack of good teachers, principal, and staff it's because they lack effort or don't study enough. This is the best school you can ever find in the universe!!!!!!

This is my son's first year at Archimedean. Yes we wanted our son to be in a structured and diciplined environment. We are devoted and loving parents all we want is our son to reach his full potential, to do his best and have pride and respect for himself and his community, and above all to be happy and successful in his life. We want him to have confidence in himself and the choices he makes. In saying this I would like to state that I am so very grateful for this school, yes it is rigorous and it is difficult, but you must as a parent tell your child to keep trying and to keep with it and to ask for help when needed. If you have a positive attitude, a respect for learning a respect for teachers, this school will bring out the best in your child. My son was an average student and is now gaining confidence and self worth, he has become more animated and communicates with us always telling us about something new he has looked up. His grades have steadily moved up to above average, he is learning greek and philosophy . I say a "D" in this school is like a "B" anywhere else!

Horrible, rude environment! This school prepare very well the students for the state test, they jump really fast to one subject to the next one! CHILDREN need more than this!!! children need to have a ROUNDED education, children need to be able to see their teachers as mentors, as examples. Teachers in Archemedean yell and scream like crazy! life is not about to have HIGH SCORES IN THE TEST! Life is not about to be so competitive that your children are going to be miserable. People who have their children in Archimedean do not know what they are missing !
