I absolutely LOVE how this school treats both my boys. 1 of my boys is in their special education program & they treat my son with thee most love & care I’ve ever seen a school treat him. My Nui for the first time in his life truly looks forward to going to school every day, it’s amazing. With in 1yr they have changed both my sons lives for the better. I’ve never seen a school go above & beyond like Hunter Elementary. Even the principal is by far the best principal I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. His attention to detail, & his daily attention to every single child, is above & beyond, he is on a level unseen in any school district I’ve ever seen across this beautiful nation. They also do keep all entrances to the school locked, forcing all who choose to enter, to enter through the front office. I do love their security protocols. But I do wish they had an armed guard, or the teachers where armed, but that’s just cuz children are precious & deserve more protection then politicians. Anyways, ya, absolutely love Hunter & all of the teachers & principal that makes this school the best in the nation in my opinion. Love them. The Royal’s will always support them as they support the kids in everything academic, as well as for the wellbeing of their day to day existence.

We transferred from another school in the area when we moved from another area of Meridian. We have been so pleased with Hunter! It is so much better for my son. He went from disliking school to LOVING it. His teachers have been so excellent, and the school has good security and educational standards.

We have 2 children w/8 collective years at Hunter (K-5 K-1). They both tested as gifted this year, but teachers/counselor treated them as problems & didn't identify this nor their challenges. Overcrowded. Focus of school is fundraisers/appearances. Teachers only care about tests, don't enforce homework to be done. Bullying is tolerated. Staff is negative and likes to gossip. Rooms are filled to the brim w/stuff and the environment is overwhelming and stressful. If your children are creative/gifted, this school will do everything to kill their self-esteem. We pulled our son out after this year, he tested in the 99th %ile for math, but his 1st grade teacher didn't challenge him nor suggest that he could be gifted. The teachers would rather the students be medicated rather than challenge them. Our daughter after completing 5th grade truly believes that there is something wrong with herself and we aren't going to let the narrow-minded teachers at Hunter do the same thing to our other child. If you are thinking about pulling your children out of Hunter, I'd suggest checking out the other schools of choice in the area. We found a few better options around this area- schools that have a much better philosophy on educating children. We chose Barbara Morgan STEM Academy because it is a school with the philosophy of teaching children to think for themselves and appreciating individual strengths. This is a concept which seems to be lost on the teachers at Hunter Elementary. Hunter is testing and results based before all else.

My children have been here for 3 years and we have been more than happy with their education. The teachers really care for their students and want them to succeed. That is what makes a difference for them. I would definitely recommend this school to others.

Not a good school. Over crowded, large class size, low expectations of students. We went here, and then pulled our kids. Parents had no clue and didn't care how poorly their kids were performing. Don't care about high achieving kids either. It's been overcrowded and poor reputation since it opened. Very disappointing.

My kids are in their second year at this school and thus far the teachers have been amazing. The downsides? Overcrowding in class rooms with 30 plus kids.

I think Hunter is a very good school. i have been impressed by the teachers and their willingness to go the second mile. I am pleased with the administration and very pleased with the extracurricular specialist ie: Music, Lunch workers and PE

I have been nothing but pleased with the education my children are receiving at Hunter Elementary. I can't believe the disdain in some people-those poor children who aren't being pushed enough in school are probably being overly pushed at home. My children are excellent students and if they are struggling in a subject, we work on it a little more at home. The way it's supposed to be. But that's just me, a gap-toothed hick product of the Idaho educational system.

Minimum standards met, not much else. Hunter is not a poor school but its about mediocre. Teachers are hit and miss and the general faculty and leadership seem to lack the desire to push students to succeed at higher than the minimum standards, which in Idaho are not very high. Overall we are disappointed with 2nd and 3rd grade at Hunter. One thing is for sure, Great Schools has it right when they rate schools, 9s and 10s are excellent (i.e. Seven Oaks Elem.), 6s are just average like Hunter.
