Staff does not do well with special needs students. They strapped my son into a chair without my permission or knowledge for 3 months. I was only informed at his IEP meeting. He was non verbal and unable to tell me. My neurotypical child would come home telling me about fights almost everyday. Just not a safe environment. If I could give negative stars, I would.

I went to this school a long time ago so it may have changed but helped us a lot especially helping us find a new school when we were moving one thing is they did not really have avid which I think is a really good program to have.

I'm so glad I took my daughter out of this school. My daughter’s 1st grade teacher and principal were bullies and they have a weird control thing going with the food. Snacks were taken away because the children were being too loud or the snacks that were sent from home weren't 'healthy enough'. Some kids missed out on the class pizza party and were asked to leave in front of the entire class because, for whatever reason, didn't finish their flashcards. My daughter's principal took her into an empty classroom and intimidated her into not telling the other kids that there were snacks in the office if they were hungry. The principle compared food to the notorious millennial trophies and kids were brought up thinking we are entitled to it....yes, entitled to food. Every time I brought this up with the teacher or principle, they acted like nothing was wrong and I was the only one that would have an issue with this. My daughter also felt like every time she asked about the assignment because she didn't understand, the teacher just said to finish it without offering to help. My daughter missed out on quite a bit of recess time because of this. I'm sure some of the teachers are great, but we did not have a great experience.

My experience has been top notch from day one. The amount of care put into every aspect of the school shows throughout and we couldn’t be happier to have placed our kids here.

I have two kids that go to Chaparral and we have had a great experience so far. I've seen reviews about the principal and I haven't had the experience myself... so I can't speak to that. I have noticed that she does know my kids by name (not for any other reason than knowing them) and gives them high fives in the hallway. I've really liked the teachers there! Hoping for another great year here.

Very disappointed with the principal at this school. She lacks in her ability connect with parents and the needs of her students.

The principal at this school does not care about her students at all. She lies to them and to the parents about what goes on. When confronted about it she lies some more. We had an incident where a student threatened our kids with extreme violence and repeatedly told our kids that their dad was going to kill them. This student brought weapons and alcohol to school and showed it to everyone and discussed explicit sexual acts in front of the other students. What did the principal do about it? Nothing, instead of taking action like she should have, she continually blamed our kids and all the kids that this student bullied and call them all liars, and then put this student on a pedestal. When we were changing schools the kids wanted to say goodbye to all their friends, and we were told repeatedly that it would be a disruption to the class if they did so they would clean out the desk for the kids and leave the stuff in the office for pickup. When students asked, the principal told all the kids in the class that our children moved and couldn't say goodbye. We know this because we are friends with several of the parents who's kids told them what happened in class. There are a handful of teachers that were decent teachers, but the majority that we had to deal with over the course of three years, treated the kids like they were in a military academy. Forcing them to miss recess because they didn't understand something on their homework. Instead of finding time in class, they would continually be held in for all recesses, and lunch to make up work. Kids need to play, they need to run, they are not like adults. Their minds need to be cleared and refreshed during the day to maintain their focus. Most of these teachers do not understand this, or refuse to.The P.E. teacher also teaches like he is dealing with adults in the military and constantly giving all the students a 1 out of 5 on their activities because they can't do a push-up like a man can, or do sit-ups like a man can. They are kids, they don't do things like adults, their bodies are not at that point yet in their lives. Eventually, yes, they will be able to do all of those things, but to grade them and put it on their record that they failed P.E. because they can't do certain exercises is ridiculous. If you want a quality education from an institution that cares, this is not the school for you.

Chaparral is a great school! The teachers are caring and want children to succeed. I have had two children there and volunteer regularly. I like to know what is going on with my kids and have been very happy with what I see. The principal knows all of the kids by name and is involved with all aspects of the school. The modified schedule is a huge plus too. It gives much needed breaks to young kids and the short summer helps kids to retain what they have learned.

This is a very disappointing school. If you're looking for a militant education for your children, Chaparral is perfect.

I'm not impressed. We moved from another state and I realize each state measures their students differently. This one tests well but the special needs kids really hurt learning for the other children. I know that is harsh but the fact is they can be disruptive and challenging for the teacher, which effects everyone. I've been told by my child that (SN)'s kids get praised while the others are dismissed for correct answers. I know that all deserve a education but I would have appreciated a head's up on the ratio.

Chaparral is awesome! The teachers are awesome! Everything about this school is great! I'm a student and the only trouble I had was with one of the kindergarten teachers. The principal is great and all of the staff members are really involved and caring. The review under me is not true!!!!! There is choir, and specials like music, health, and phys ed. There is usually 21-32 students to teacher but the teachers have time for every student, including me. The PTA always holds events like Dining Night Out, Carnival, and a Book Fair. Ive been here since preschool and I'm finishing 5th grade now. The playground also gets updated regularly. There is Safetypatrol and Student Council and a newspaper and a newsletter. This is the best school ever!!!!!!!!!!

It is interesting to me that Chaparral would have such a great rating My son attended this school for three years because of there lack of skills I now have to have my son tutored since finding this out lots of other parents have had to do the same. This school is optional because it is a track school I would never recommend sending you child to this school.

My child has been attending Chaparral for 3 years and we love it! The teachers and staff are great!

We have had 3 children go to this school. Now that Chaparral has one track, and not others, we as parents do not understand why the schedule is placed on the "traditional" schedule.

Really was disliked being at this school had a horrible kindergarten year and actually left the school. No support, even though the principal knew the teacher was terrible.

My boys have been going to Chaparral for 3 years. I love this school! The year round schedule is perfect for more family time, better retention, and the staff is fantastic!
