We are new to CWM for the 2022-23 school year. We transferred in mid-year. We have a second grader who is extremely shy and has lots of worry & gets very nervous. Adriana, from the front office team was our first contact & was so kind and welcoming. She was extremely organized and responded to my many questions so quickly when I emailed. She helped us gather all the necessary information for starting out and connected us with our Teacher, Mrs. Taylor along with the Principal, Mr. Mitchem and Counselor, Ms. Medina. The communication from all of them was top notch! And there is not enough space to write about Mrs. Taylor. She one of the best teachers we have ever partnered with! She communicated with us from the get-go to understand our child and situation and is so helpful in providing us with links/directions/answering questions, etc. Our child has come to absolutely love her in such a short time!I appreciate that the Principal is hands on vs. a watch from afar! He is at the gate many mornings welcoming students and knows so many of their names. As I understand it he is only in his second year here. That made it more impressive that he knows so many of the students and reflects that he is in fact out and about in classrooms and engaged with the students. The District has also instituted a position called a Community Liaison at the campus'. Mrs. Jackie who is at CWM has also been an integral part of welcoming us to the school and interacting with our child in such a positive way! Seeing her smiling face meeting us at the gate the first few days was so helpful!I am lover of reading and was so excited to see the library on campus! It's got so many books and fun little spots for the kids to get comfy and read. All of our interactions with staff and teachers so far has been honestly so much better than we expected. We have been in Menifee for many years and knew that the "talk" wasn't great about CWM. Our experience has been completely the opposite!I rated 4 vs 5 stars because of things that aren't necessarily due to the schools fault. For example, the campus is very small and also quite old. They seem to be bursting at the seems in regard to room and there is much that looks like could be done to update the campus. This is a district issue of course but does keep it from a 5 in my thoughts. For everything else, it takes us, as parents getting involved & engaging to help the spirit of a school.

Chester W. Morrison is an amazing school filled with wonderful Teachers and Staff Members. My children have been at CWM since Kindergarten and they are now in 2nd & 3rd grade. The community was so welcoming that within my second year here I became the Parent Teacher Organization President. The family community at CWM is close which makes it possible to have a lot of family events. The teachers are wonderful and easy to work with. The staff is amazing to work with and make all transitions and events easy.

My experience was traumatic, and transferring to another class was the best thing my mother could have done for me. She was an ex-marine and achieved academic tenure. She would wave those two facts in our faces and say "she was untouchable" and didn't "even like kids/was [there] for the paycheck." It was true. Many parents complained about her and even transferred their kids out. PTA moms used their leverage to request that the principal keeps their students out of her class. Let me tell you some, fun quirky tactics of hers:(1) On the first day, she asked students to ask her first before them, and their parents report her.(2) She made a student push their chair in and out 100 times because they left it slightly out to use the restroom (mind you, we all had small bladders, and they were likely in a hurry.)(3) She had a microwave in her classroom and would eat popcorn during lectures in front of predominately low-income, food-insecure students on subsidized lunches (at Chester W. Morrison that meant they had to eat bread with a cold slice of American cheese while other students ate real food.) (4) She took a different student every morning to the ramp (we were in "temporary" trailers that were never removed). She said she learned it in the military. (5) I made it to the District Spelling Bee and she increased our homework, which I believe was to keep me from studying my 100-page list of words. My mother had reported her once at this point and began treating me worse.(6) After I was the 8th student of hers to transfer to another class, she was livid. She told the remainder of her students that she "kicked [me] out of her class because [I] was a bad kid."

Nothing but good positive things to say about this school and the teachers and principal. I was a little worried because the overall school rating was only a 6 but i couldn't be happier with this school. My boy love it, love going, love learning.

the new principal is AMAZING! he waits at the gate every morning to greet the kids and gives everyone a high five and a compliment. my sons teacher Ms. Golledge is awesome as well, she takes the time with all the kids to focus on their individual learning abilities. when I email her she responds the same day and even sets up meetings if needed right away. she is very available to students and parents. my son is excelling in his school work because of the consistent attention he receives! I am very very happy with this school

My son started 1st grade here a few months into the school year because we moved. He had the worst year ever. He went from a boy that loved school to one that never wanted to go. His teachers made him feel unliked and put him in the back of the class facing the wall to do his writing assignements. The worst was they would have him call me at home when he wouldn't do his writting. Not much I could do as a parent over the phone with my son crying. Isn't it there job to get the kids to do their work in class. The next year I took my son out of that school adn transfered him. He is back to the kid that loves school and his teacher. Don't put your kids in chester morrison

We started at Kindergarden and the 2 teachers we have had these last 2 years have been remarkable. My son has had a ton of health issue's and through it all they have understood and been great about it. I find you need to get to know your child's teacher to have that relationship with them, learned that from my mom, who helpd out in all of our classrooms. Our new Principal this year, Lynn Hanke has been wonderful, I love how she works with the kids and is willing at any time to speak with the parents. Last year they were giving out awards to the kids, which was nice, however not every child got one and I felt that was sending the wrong message to a child. That is not part of this year program. I have had no problems with any of the teachers or the office staff, I did with one but it was handled very well. I also wanted to add that you cannot judge a book by it's cover, you need to get involved with your child's teach in order to make a judgement and to make school a more suitable invirement for them. If we all work together then any school will be at the top!

This school has suffored the effects of a weak principal and district. This school often has no administrator on campus and teachers have been overheard making negative coments about families, very unprofessional. Let's hope that the new principal can turn this school around and provide a calmer, drama free environment for our children to learn in.
