Absolutely amazing school. Teachers, staff, and new administration team are truly making a positive impact. My three kids go here and the small environment and close knit community is perfect. Everyone truly cares about my kids and their future.

Memphis used to be a decent school with a decent selection of elective courses and extracurricular activities. In the time that I went from 5th grade to 12th, all of this disappeared. My siblings and I all were very good students and ended up taking the same course two or three times due to the lack of electives available. My senior year I took an “online” class which consisted of about a weeks worth of work followed by watching movies or doing homework for other classes because there was nothing else to do. Because the junior/senior schools are in one building, gym classes often had three different classes utilizing the same space at the same time. The athletic programs had been decently stable in the ten or so years before I got to high school but were an absolute wreck by the time I was there. The administration took the stance that it was the kids fault that the teams weren’t doing well, rather than admitting it was due to poor choice in coaching, ridiculous practice times, and staying in a league which our small school size had no chance in.

I regret ever doing school of choice at Memphis Jr High/High School. While they do have some amazing teachers the bullying that goes on at this school is out of control and it's just swept under the rug. If you don't fit into their perfect little box of how a perfect student should be you are treated very poorly by some. I eventually had to change schools because of this and other issues and my son who at one time wanted to go to college doesn't even want to graduate High School now.

What a great school !!! I can't say anything bad about it. My children (3) graduated from Memphis and are very successful professionals. The only thing small about Memphis is it's size. The schools and community have one of the most caring attitudes around.

I am a graduate of Memphis High School and very proud of it. I was extremely prepared for college when I left Memphis and I have earned a Bachelors' Degree and a Masters' Degree. Memphis is a small school where I was recognized by staff and peers as an individual but it also provided the opportunities and programs of bigger schools. I would put my Memphis education against any school in the area.

a mother of four, 2 graduated from memphis 2 were taken out in jr high i grew up here and very dissappointed at the quality of teachers in jr and high schools. elementary teachers are great always worked hard for students guiding and encouraging them along the way once your children get into jr and high school those teachers are on a power struggle to prove themselves better than the student letting them fall through the cracks of their system, it is true if your not in sports which most of the teachers are coaches of you do not matter to them and these children get shoveled aside for the jock, if your child has any sort of intelligence and wants to go ahead they are treated like trash kicked out of the class room for stupid infractions if i had a choice again i would have never bought a house in memphis district sports players get a different treatment then the rest their grades are made by the teachers not the student. The communication between teachers about your student won't happen they would rather call you at work then work it out among themsevles and student all i can say is thank you michigan for homeschooling and virtual learning i wil not let my children go back

As a parent of three students in this school district, I can say that the quality of the overall educational experience does diminish quite a bit once a student reaches the high school level. However, the school has adopted a stance against bullying that doesn't stop with the special presentations. Bullying is not tolerated. That being said, there is still a lot of bias between the athletes and non-athletes. Those who play sports are favored in many aspects and they tend to get away with things that most other students couldn't. Also, the counseling department is extremely lacking. I personally talked to the counselor to ask her to talk to my daughter and my daughter was ignored. She was also absent for a week with strep throat and the doctor's note that I turned in was lost, causing my daughter to have five unexcused absences on her file for one marking period. Being a Memphis grad, I can also say that the compassion the teachers and especially the administration has for their students is far from what it used to be, and has so much room to improve.
