This school is a hidden gem in Massachusetts. I have worked there as a substitute while my children attend a better-known, larger high school that frequently rates top of the charts. However, I think that MHS is probably a better choice for many families. It is a small, self-contained district where everyone knows one another. The principal maintains order with clear rules, warmth and relationships. The assistant principal is exceptionally trained. The facilities are state of the art. I've observed how students respect one another and treat others with kindness, even though they may not be in the same social spheres. Class sizes are small and the teachers encourage small group discussion. The school spirit is strong. The only downside is that as a small school, they cannot offer endless course options, such as German, Mandarin or various arts classes. Still, there are many AP courses and the school actively works to make sure as many kids as possible are challenging themselves with rigor. I encourage young families frustrated by the housing crunch to check out Maynard... you may be surprised.

Maintenance public school system is one of the worst school system that I've ever endured racism is definitely present in the school my daughter was bullied for months a perfectly healthy child ended up with depression due to the behaviors of students bullying taking pictures following and stalking her in the hallways communication to other teachers around the incident cause lack of support for the student in question student was blamed once she hit her breaking point and had put water in the student's face after being chased stocked harassed and bullied throughout the day my daughter had had enough school system found a way to turn this back on the child who was once the victim has now the aggressor my child was called a cotton picker and a monkey and was forced to face the bully every day in her classes The bullying continued and when my child finally did something she was suspended faculty principal covered up I was silent as a parent cuz they didn't like my approach and telling them what they did wrong principal is disgustingly inappropriately out of content with voice tone and her obsession to be right and in fact had a child is rant about how I couldn't record her when she is in a public school system and is subjected to appropriate conduct which was not what was displayed while dealing or talking to me as a parent about a situation that the school system made worse and stomach racism is real because they don't seem to know what they did wrong and they feel that they have done all they could do and they've done a good job retaliation is definitely part of this process as they suggested that I do online schooling and quickly rekindled the conversation that was taking place on a phone that was recorded

Great, small school in a wonderful community where students are well-known and supported by staff. Interested students can participate in every aspect of school life; several varsity sports teams have "no cuts" and there are a wide variety of clubs (academic, community service, foreign language, etc) an incredible music program, and a radio/tv studio. Both of our children took advantage of it all: the AP classes, sports, music, theater, WAVM. Teachers and administration are receptive to student input. Our kids had fun, studied hard, made wonderful friends, and graduated confident young adults who were very well-prepared for college.

The education and just overall say the school is structured is the reason I was able to go on to college and graduate from an AACSB business school and get a job.

The school was not for me so I personally didn’t like it whatsoever, made some good friends though, would recommend going if you like school boring and easy. Overall I would give my experience a 2

Maynard High School is a brand new state of the art $46 million dollar high school building constructed in 2013. The Town of Maynard is a geographically smaller size town than the bordering towns of Acton, Concord, Sudbury, and Stow, Massachusetts. The Town of Maynard High School is the size of a small private prep high school compared to the much larger population school districts of those neighboring towns. Those four school districts have many more students, higher property taxes for funding, and larger classrooms. Maynard High School offers a tremendous alternative to the high school experience as one of only a few "small student population" to the "large school population" high schools of Sudbury-Lincoln, Concord-Carlisle, Acton-Boxboro, and Nashoba Valley (Stow-Bolton). Maynard High School represents its strong, small neighborhood communities where home values are much more reasonable for the median salary type of career professionals or skilled workers. Maynard High School students learn in an environment with less than 290 students. Students at Maynard High School have access to Advanced Placement courses that might not be offered at the surrounding towns with large student populations. We witnessed the difference first hand during a student led tour of the Maynard High School in 2014 by a senior year student who was taking advanced placement courses that were not offered at neighboring Acton-Boxboro High School. He was extremely satisfied with his AP courses, ability to compete, and be accepted at highly competitive universities. When looking at a home purchase in Maynard, it is important to realize that one of the rewards of Maynard is living in a small, quiet, established town with a high school having less than 290 students. This fact alone is the major difference from the four surrounding school districts. The Maynard High School athletic program is a part of the Massachusetts (MIAA) smaller high school district division. It has had success in reaching the Massachusetts State Championship Game in basketball (March 2016) and football (November 2016). Welcome to small town living and small town Maynard High School. Town of Maynard and its high school are within a reasonable distance (25 miles) commute to downtown Boston via commuter rail or highways. Take a tour of Maynard High School to see the benefits of a small high school.

This is an under rated school system in my opinion. Sent both my children through it. Both excelled and went on top top colleges -- Holy Cross and NYU. The big development is they just opened a state of the art High School and the Middle School is also less then 10 years old, so the facilities are excellent.

Overall, good experience with teachers and the curriculum they teach. Offers AP and Honors level courses. Main problem with the district is the administration and their utter lack of professionalism and accountability (don't follow student handbook, practice a 'group think' with a low opinion of parents and students, written requests for information often ignored, talk down their own staff at school committee meetings; large proportion of students choose Assabet Valley over Maynard - they don't like to discuss why a number of residents leave). Your child could get an education there, but be forewarned of the risks in dealing with the people who run these schools!
