To stay constructive, I'll say the safety officer in the school is extremely warm and respectful and loved by everyone. There is a lot of homework which is useless and doesn't really reinforce what is learned in class. There is no real social studies or science, public schools teach the student a lot more. The expository writing class is a joke, the teacher should have retired ages ago. The kids literally spend an hour a day learning absolutely NOTHING. Their guidance counselor is fairly new and doesn't really have time to guide anyone since the school thinks employees should do everything else the school requires, like answer phones, deliver lunches, etc. They have a math teacher that shouldn't be allowed anywhere near young children as he only degrades and yells at students, so make sure you don't ask him to explain something. And if you think there is no political indoctrination in private school, think again!

My child has been enrolled there from Toddler through Kindergarten. The administration is the biggest part of the problem. The teachers I have seen are good (Early childhood). They make changes and decisions based on money - not what is the best interest of the students. They promise you the world but delver not much. My child has learned a lot and they do have a lot of extras that go on. Watch your charges - accounting is very questionable and conveniently overcharge you and forget you put deposits down. Once is a mistake, twice is careless but three and four times is stealing. The bigger the donor you are - the better your child is treated. The turnover for some positions are very high. School counselors seem to change monthly.

Horrible board, administration and they do not teach the promised subjects. The sports program is like being in the military.

my children have been enrolled at SSDSGMC since 1st grade and Pre-K. This is a nurturing, egalitarian and unique Jewish Day School. Communication is completely direct between parents, teachers and students. The behavior of children and their work ethic truly stand out when they attend Public schools upon graduation. I am not impressed with the public middle school education provided by our district and felt it was very important to keep them at SSDSGMC until High school. We have been extremely pleased with our choice to be part of this incredible community.

We love this school! Our son has been there for 4 years so far and feels like it is his second home! He is getting a top-notch secular education and a stellar Judaic education. By second grade he was writing and reading both print and cursive Hebrew. He has an undeniable affinity for his Jewish roots. The teachers and the administration are very accommodating and work with you so your child can achieve the best education suited to his personal needs. My son has already asked if there will be a SSDS high school and a college! He never wants to leave! Once you see the school, the loving atmosphere and the quality education you'll never want to leave either.

I have 3 children at SSDS in Marlboro and I have always had a very positive experience. The staff is very warm and it feels like a family. My oldest has been in the school for 7 years and in that time we have never been unhappy. All 3 of my children are getting a top notch education coupled with learning about Israel and the hebrew language. All of the schools events are beautiful and if you take a tour you will never want to leave!

SSDS has been a wonderfully rich environment for my daughter both academically and socially. She had gained not only knowledge but confidence, the love of being Jewish and our Jewish heritage, and being part of a greater community. SSDS is truly an extended family that we are happy to be part of.

I love this school. My children have been here since nursery and one is already in middle school. The school is a warm and nurturing learning environment where students are provided an excellent secular and jewish education. Due to low teacher to student ratio, students are get very individualized attention from their teachers. The teachers and staff go above and beyond to make sure your child is working to his/her potential. One of the best decisions I ever made was sending my children here.

The school is amazing!! The teachers are all great and have many years of experience in the field. I mostly love that my children are in a loving family environment. Both my boys are learning so more than I could imagine. My first grader has not only succeed in the English language but also is doing amazing with the Hebrew language. Overall the school has made my kids love school and be proud of being Jewish. I would recommend SSDS to any family that wants to give their children the best of the best!!!!

My child has attended this school from the age of 4 and the experience has been wonderful. The family feel and welcoming atmosphere stood out from the beginning and hasn't changed over the years. The education has been outstanding, both in secular and Judaic studies. She is well ahead of her public school peers and already has valuable experience with research, report writing, presentations and use of technology. We feel lucky to have found SSDS at an early age and wish it went beyond eighth grade!

My child has had a terrible time at this school. The faculty turnover rate is extremely high. Don't dare question the administration or you will be targeted as a "challenger of their authority." Parents must email the Board members and are not allowed to call them. The leadership believes it can do no wrong. The more parents I speak with the more horror stories I hear. The school states 2 or 3 times in its handbook it teaches Rashi but in 2 years my child has learned no more than a few sentences. The sports coaches policy is " the kids are here to win not to play." I brought it up when the school team was winning 50 to 5 and several children had not been put in the game. When I brought it to the attention of the coach and principal I was yelled at and treated like a outcast.

Solomon Schechter Day School has given my four children an excellent foundation in their secular studies and a strong connection and love of their Jewish traditions, language, and culture. Over the past nine years my children have excelled in science and math and were even given accelerated classes to meet their needs. They have embraced their heritage and make me see that my investment in their future is well worth the sacrifice. Not only do the staff teach my children but they support the children in the classroom, on the sidelines, and even from the audiences of their many extra curricular performances. Solomon Schechter is not only an excellent school but a family to everyone involved. I think Solomon Schechter is GREAT!

I have three children at this school. The school provides a loving, caring environment while providing the highest academics. A teacher in a local middle school told me, "all kids coming from your school are ahead inatatics and science." Another highschool teacher told me by he could tell the kids from schechter because they are so well behaved and good kids. I know that my kids are well behaved, non-judge mental, smart, and loving due to this hidden gem.

My daughter went to school for two years from prek to kindergarden and my sisters three kids went from pre k to 2nd grade. This is the honest truth: Yes, they will learn about being jewish and singing hebrew songs. But they will not learn to read or write or math and will be behnd academically when they will enter public school. This school academically is so bad that it doesnt even matter what it does do for jewish heritage. What a wasteof money. Teacher in Marlboro Elementary told that ALL kids from Solomon Schechter are behind in reading, writing, math.
