I really enjoy the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Not to mention the caring attitude of the principal. I have seen her interact with students and she does get down on their level. Also, we have had issues, and the teachers are willing to resolve them, and the principal is always willing to listen and come up with solutions. There have been challenges, but we feel like its better to jump in and come up with solutions.

I cannot back this school as I have seen all my children struggling to not be bullied.I am seriously worried about all the children testing below grade level. We need more buses to go to different schools, our choices are so limited.

There needs to be minus stars for this school and its pitiful performance. They don't teach, don't listen to you or your child or you, don't care and shouldn't even be allowed to call themselves a learning institution. Why isn't anything being done? They need all new teachers and a new principal! They should be ashamed of themselves; it's really that bad.

I cannot express enough that this school needs to improve on every level. From the teaching staff to the rude office personnel. Bullies are a huge issue, not sure why this school has so many of them and the principal should be fired as she is never in and will not respond to the many parents that have huge concerns in these departments.I have spoken to a few parents who know this is a problem. Why isn't the state looking into this? This school is testing below the state level, they are failing our children!

Worst school my 3 kids have gone to. I think they can improve everywhere, from teachers not teaching to a principal that just doesn't care. Also why are they always asking for money?

If there was a way to write a lower review I would. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE.Please save yourself the headache and send your child anywhere but this school (if you can call it that).Worst education, worst teachers, worst staff, and the principal is never in. Do they even have a principal?

The teachers are so bad, the principal even worse.Send your child here if you don't want them to learn anything. The school looks for any reason to keep the kids out of school, so many days off. No wonder my child can't read, and he is in the 4th grade. My daughter is a target for bullies also, why doesn't the school do something. I have asked for help over and over and I get nowhere with them.No one will reach out to you or help you. I just don't understand why this school is even running. I think it is the worst school my child has ever gone to.

What is going on with a school that does nothing about Bullying!!!Why don't the teachers or the principal care or try to stop it? I am so frustrated and confused as to why this school is so full of bullies.

Updated review.....My son who was in the contained classrooms brought home a folder for me to look at. In it was the weekly charting his teacher and her para's did throughout each month of the school year. Upon reading through the pages though I came across at least three places where there was a handwritten note by his teacher, (who is supposedly trained and certified to teach children with special needs) that read; "So very slow," "(my son's name) is painfully slow....," and another read, (my son's name) is super slow counting objects."My son is on the autism spectrum, I expected his teacher to have compassion and professionalism in how she treated him. Yes, it takes him time to read and to count and to write his sentences. He did not need her to write snarky notes on his paperwork about how he is "slow," he could read each and every note written about him and it hurt his feelings and this explained to me why he would not look his teacher in the eye or was never happy to see her. I was not made aware of the binder or the notes until his last day of school when he unpacked his backpack and showed it to me. To that teacher, you know who you are..... Shame on you! You made my son feel bad about himself, you embarrassed him and you have NO business teaching children at all! Get out of this business and find a new vocation! And to the parents reading this review... DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL!!

Disgusting school. Kids are riddled with lice but the school wont send them home like a normal school, wont make the lazy parents take responsibility for cleaning their kids. Title 1 school that doesnt want to lose their money so they dont care about lice infestations. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!

There are two ladies in the front office. The Hispanic one is nice and helpful. Can't say the same for the other. I have heard her be rude to other parents besides me. She wasn't to kid friendly with my children on the first day. I have an I'll child that is on a special diet. He was told by a teacher not to bring in certain things. I would of been ok if maybe she asked a parent why he had it or sent a note home. The nurses and vice president were nice and understanding. Mrs Abner is an awesome teacher. I wasn't even told ahead of time that when it rains the children only have half days. Hopefully things will get better and they get rid of the rude lady up front.

I called the school to ask some questions. The security seemed like she just wanted to rush me off the phone. She didn't sound to welcoming either. I will for sure be looking for my children to go else where. Even if it is out my way.

If you child is bullied or assaulted at Maricopa Elementary, don't expect the Administration to do a thing. My son was assaulted on 8/16/13 by another student that resulted in a concussion. The Administration's response: A "Disciplinary Action Form" was filled out. That is it. The aggressor was able to return to school immediately after the incident while my son sat in the ER. There were no Administrators there that day. But I was told by the Nurse, her Assistant and Jerry one of the Secretaries that this was a Zero Tolerance school and the other kid would be delt with. I beg you to take your child/ren elsewhere. The kids at this school are not safe. Not one single adult witnessed a huge group of kids surrounding my son laying on the ground crying!?! B.S. They wanted to sweep it under the rug
