I have to agree with the review posted in May 2014. Tuscan has a mostly excellent teaching staff (you have to do your homework on getting the best teacher for your child), diverse student body and active community of parents. Unfortunately, Principal Majeed sets a poor tone and example for the staff. Decisions about your child are made in a vacuum and a deaf ear is applied to outside opinion (including parents). Good luck if you happen to disagree with Ms Majeed's conclusions.

Tuscan has a mostly excellent teaching staff, diverse student body and active community of parents. The PTA is incredible (hello, Tuscan Show!). Unfortunately, Principal Majeed is so unpopular that it creates a toxic, bureaucratic environment. The school was the subject of a news reporter's investigation for lax security after the Sandy Hook massacre; morning drop off is as friendly and stress-free as Penn Station on a Friday afternoon; and don't even ask about the procedure for picking up a child early.

Tuscan is a wonderful school filled with caring, dedicated teachers. The atmosphere is one of respect and a thirst for learning. The ROAR (Respect Others Act Responsibly) program instills the best of the human spirit. The parent community is involved and supportive. A great place to learn and grow.

A caring, diverse, and effective elementary school in an excellent district. Highly recommended neighborhood school.

On the upside, and most importantly, a strong teaching staff with a few exceptions. On the downside, overcrowded facilities such as cafeteria, recess, bathrooms and auditorium and too many compromises must be made as a result. Leadership at this school is less than effective. Again though, most teachers are pretty wonderful.

My grand-daughter attended this school and performed very well in middle school. Tuscan and all the other elementary schools in Maplewood really prepare children for academic excellence. I highly recommend this school.
