My daughter is currently at The Country School and it is the perfect place for her. Growing up in this nurturing and safe to take risks environment has done wonders for our reserved girl. She is blossoming into a confident young lady who advocates for her learning, offers to lend a helping hand and shows great care and compassion to all around her. There could not be a better fit.

Simply outstanding. This gem of a school has managed to attract and retain educators who are among the most impressive I’ve come across, at any level. The campus is the kind of place where fun consorts with rigor: academic standards are as high as they can be, and there is at the same time an emphasis on developing what the head of school sometimes calls “relatively free-range children.” Our second-grader’s class, learning about colonial America, has been studying in the classroom and also building shelters out of tree limbs scavenged in the woods behind the playing fields. The school puts special emphasis on self-reliance, leadership, kindness, poetry, and public speaking. It has a strong STEM program, but calls it STEAM instead, recognizing that there is art in engineering. It’s a nice mix.

Best education, caring teachers and a community that fosters friendship, leadership, respect and empathy for others. My two boys love going to school every day, and they are excited to come home and share what they learned. My boys learn very differently and since TCS focuses on the whole child approach to learning, it has been wonderful each and every year. The kids are taught to solve problems which is a life skill that will go way beyond TCS. In addition, the outdoor education is a huge bonus to their growth and development. Check it out for yourself. You will be impressed

A Country School education provides a beautiful balance between rigorous academics and upholding the sense of wonder and creativity in the child. The Country School (TCS) embraces the whole child, allowing him to her to grow and blossom in a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment. The leadership, public speaking, and outdoor education programs foster an authentic sense of self-confidence within the classrooms and beyond. A Country School education is truly an education that lasts a lifetime!

There is no place better! This school helped me to raise two intelligent, thoughtful and mature young adults. Both of my children attended The Country School from the age of 3. I cannot say enough about the curriculum, outdoor education progarm, the beautiful campus or the dedicated teachers. They taught my children how to love learning, how to study and how to advocate for themselves. I will be forever grateful to the people who lead this community. I did consider other private elementary schools in New Haven and Middletown. Many of these schools have fine programs and wonderful teachers - the thing that swayed me was the warmth of the community and the safety of the suburban location. This is a special place.

The Country School is outstanding! In a time when so many schools are forced to "teach to tests," TCS offers a true learning community in which teachers and children of all ages (preschool through grade eight) engage and collaborate while thoroughly enjoying learning. The school emphasizes STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) for every student. As a parent, I'm thrilled that my first grade son has many daily opportunities to run and play outdoors. Kids visit the steam lab, art, music, PE, media center, and world language teacher several times per week. The small student teacher ratio is terrific and enables the professional, caring, bright teachers an opportunity to know each child well. My son loves TCS and I do too!

I can honestly say I love to go to work. Our students come to school ready and eager to learn. It is cool to be smart at The Country School. Students encourage eachother to reach their full potential - that's the kind of peer pressure that works for me. The best part about being in a school where students grow and develop over a ten year period is the positive relationships that I can have with my students. I look forward to seeing them back each September where we pick up where we left off in June.
