    Lowell middle school does a wonderful job with orientations of incoming 5th graders. They have mentor programs for girls called STARS and for boys called GEARS. The programs involve 6th graders with 8th graders. Such a positive experience for both of my kids that participated. The parent involvement is outstanding. We just love it here.

    My kids attended Lowell Area Schools for elementary and middle school. We moved out of state and now my two kids attend a different school district for middle and high school. Low and behold both have major learning gaps in math and ELA and were behind their peers in these academic skills. The good grades they got in Lowell were not an indicator of their true skills. With lots of tutoring and many dollars later they are finally catching up. If you send your kids there be prepared to provide some extra remediation to ensure they have the skills they need for high school.
