Having my kids attend this school was the worst experience for me and my family. We experienced a lot of bullying, harsh punishments by front office employees, no support for special needs, and my thoughts on the principal mimic the other reviews…she is the worst. Simply the worst.

The teachers at this school are incredible but unfortunately the leadership is not. Teachers are over worked and unsupported. My kids have gone here for a couple years. The worst thing about the school is the principal. She is unkind and it seems she doesn’t even like children when you watch her talk to them . I also overheard her speaking to a teacher and was appalled by the way she was talking. Extremely rude. This school could be so much better with someone else in charge. If you have a child in special education I would not send them to this school. My child needed more than they got for special education. Every day my child would tell me they would get to play games on their Chromebook when getting taken out of the classroom. Kids deserve more than this school is giving.

The Principal Danielle is so rigid, that teachers are constantly quitting. Some last a month, others a couple of weeks. Other times multiple teachers quit at once. And then students are left without a teacher! Not a good environment to be in. Sometimes students are referred to the counselor or the principal but no one helps them. Other times they are having a panic attack in an assembly outside, but the counselors and teachers force them to stay even though the noise and all of the people is too much for them to cope with and they are crying and trembling. And some teachers as well scream at students and treat them poorly.

Amazing school and teachers who are excited about your kids growth and give them everything they need to accomplish that growth.

I was threatened last year by another student. Staff did nothing, the other student made comments about ending people’s lives, but I was still put in the same classes as them. And one of the teachers even made us partner up? This is not a school I recommend.

It’s disappointing to have to leave a review so low but sometimes the truth is needed in hopes that the individuals that operate this school will look in the mirror and make it a great school again. The communication is non existent, bias opinions to make decisions, the engagement of teachers is below average this is a direct reflection of leadership within the organization. Teaching is done by chrome books not by teachers this method of teaching our students does not give our children the tools they needs to interact and learn structure. There is no mentorship as a teacher should. Parents are not included in the education of their children, the curriculum is almost secretive. Makes you wonder what is my children are being taught. This is an environment to create sheep not leaders that our community will need in the future. Thompson school district should be ashamed this school was great when it first opened but a change in leadership has made this school below average. Our child was given a transgender hand out and when I called the school it they denied ever doing so, this was the final straw. Our kids were pulled out this school and moved into a wholesome school that parents are included in their child’s education and taught skills that will help support them as they grow. Our children are not mature enough to handle sexuality situations like this it is our responsibility as parents to teach this not a school.

I'm really happy that we took a chance on High Plains. We were thinking about moving to the Poudre School District, but so far we've been really happy with our decision.
