My son is in TK and I feel like we won the lottery! Class size is very small around 12 students. There are 2 teachers and 2 TAs. They are always creating new art or doing fun activities that help with learning. They already had 3 field trips. The school also has many community building fundraisers and we find that everyone, especially the Principal and all the Staff are genuinely caring and kind.

It is a small school where every kid feels like a family member. Teachers know names of all students and they are always so excited to share about progress of kids with parents. School principal Ms. Robinson is an energentic, motivated and passionate lady. Most of the mornings she is at the gate to welcome kids. At elementary school emotional support and stability is equally important as is literacy and numeracy, Wilshire crest is successfully providing emotional support and sense of safety to kids My kids love wilshire crest and their teachers.

We love Wilshire Crest! It is walking distance from our home, the class sizes are small and at this school they can’t get very big. There’s a limit of 180 kids in this entire k-5 public school. It has a private school feel. They are also one of the schools that have a Pre-K, which is what grade my daughter is in now. She was accepted in to their Dual Language program that will immerse her classes in Spanish and English which is such a cool thing to be able to learn at a young age. They have their own beautiful teaching garden, an orchestra that they can start in grade 1 and the principal, Mrs. Robinson, has created such a supportive culture. The parents at this school, especially what I’ve seen in my daughter’s class, are so involved, everyone knows everyone else and it is truly a feeling of community here.

Small hidden gem! Public school with a private school feel. Small class size to really meet the needs of the students. Administration is awesome. Don't let the test scores sway your opinion. Go in and see the school.

This school is an absolute gem! It was not on our radar (or any of our area FB groups or neighbors!) but we are so happy we found it! First of all the campus is large and airy - a huge plus for us during and after the heights of Covid, with bright outside-facing classrooms. The garden is a full sized little oasis for the kids to learn, play and explore in - not just a couple boxes thrown in the corner of a playground. The class sizes are small (often 1/2 the size of other schools), the school itself is small (120-130 in 2022), and the dual language program is thriving (70/30). The principal Ms. Robinson is a gift -- she knows all the students by name and is available most drops offs and pick ups just to say hi and chat. Our K teacher had the flexibility to challenge our child and still adjust to students that needed extra help. Issues are addressed quickly and communicated clearly.

I was so happy to have a dual language program finally be offered in the community in 2018. The curriculum is taught in both languages, but what’s great about this program is that it’s not just focused on learning Spanish vocabulary and Language Arts instruction. The students are also provided Spanish instruction in math, science, social studies and even PE! It was more than I expected and I’m so happy my daughter is in this amazing program. The teachers are amazing and super creative, but most of all patient with the children. The school size was also a bonus, it is a small school and it’s like a family. The principal, Ms. Robinson and all staff and teachers are so supportive and always available to parents.

If anyone is looking for a absolutely amazing Spanish immersion school in Mid City, please consider Wilshire Crest Elementary. The ratings are not great, but they are outdated and do not reflect the current staff and students. Our daughter has just 10 kids in her class and the principal knows everyone by name. The school is ETK-5 and can only hold 220 kids so its never going to be a HUGE school, which is one of the reasons we chose it. Our daughter was reading and writing in Spanish and English by the end of kindergarten which I never thought possible! We could not be happier there. Additionally, even though this past year was challenging the support and live online experience was so much better then we could have ever hoped for. Our daughter did not fall behind and in fact excelled. We truly love this school!!!

We have enjoyed our time at this small school. It is a clean facility, has a welcoming environment and the staff is familiar with all of the students. There are events and programs and ways for volunteers to support the school. In addition, teachers are willing to help students if they need extra attention/guidance and the principal is available to answer questions and concerns.

The Dual language program is a growing gem in this part of LA! The students learn in a 70/30 model with a lot of stimulation to develop both languages. The school has adopted a GCI mathematics approach which is both rigorous and fun for the students. The school has many specials such as: music classes, a local garden program with cooking classes, science with STEM projects and fun activities lead by the PTA. The campus is spacious, clean and beautiful! The staff is caring and friendly. Overall a wonderful place to learn!

Is really great, I love how is small and the staff is soo nice , the ladies in the office knows you and they are so sweet! They have garden , the kids learn how to take care of it and they also have health cooking classes using all the veggies and fruits from the garden. They have a good after school program and a big area to run and playground . I really like .

I was a site coordinator here at Wilshire Crest. This school has such a great environment which is set from the principal all the way to the janitorial staff. It is truly a great school and I recommend sending your kids here.

The Dual Language program is excellent. Kids are learning English and Spanish at the same time. This is happening because parents are involved in their child's education. It's a lot of work but worth it. Everyone works together to provide a welcoming environment to learn.

First, let me praise the new principal at Wilshire Crest. Mrs. Robinson has done a fantastic job this year. My daughter is in kindergarten and loves her school. There are issues from previous years that the new principal is addressing. She has a vision for the school. It is important for parents and the community to get involved to support her efforts. A bilingual program is starting next year!! And because the school is small, it functions like a family. If you have issues, the administration is accessible and friendly. Office staff is always smiling and ready to help.

This school should be shut down. Principal? Faculty? Counselors? Do they actually work?

I've always been on the fence about this school, but his last year (fourth grade) was it for me. My son has attended this school since first grade and the only reason this school is getting more than a single star is because of the principal. This school has a lot of potential to be great with Ms. Taylor at the helm. She knows the students/parents/families by name and is very attentive, but as one person she can only do so much. Like most LAUSD schools, the 1-on-1 attention for students in grades above kinder is minimal to non-existent, but my son lucked up on good teachers his second and third grade years. Most of the work my child has done this year is repetitive of the things covered in third grade and it seems many of the teachers are sticking to the bare minimum and/or are catering to the under-performing students. Instead of working to bring those students up to the next level, the better performing students in class aren't being challenged. There have also been a lot of "incidents" with students, parents, and teachers this year. At least 2-3 times per week my son was telling me some sort of story about students fighting each other/teachers, parents confronting students and teachers, etc.

My son has been attending Wilshire crest since kindergarten and he is now in the 2nd. My daughter is also attending in their etk program, this year. What I love most about the school is the principal. I love how she interacts with the students and is very involved. As a parent, I know we are very fortunate to have her as the principal. Anytime I have had a concern, I've been able to speak with Mrs. Taylor and my children's teachers. This school has potential to improve, if parents do their parts with their students. The teachers and principal give all the need tools it's now up to the parents to reinforce the materials and push their children to greatness.

Bullying is out of control here! Not only by the students but by the parents! Even the principal complains of being bullied everyday. Parents are rude and disruptive to others. Lack of enforcement of uniform code. General apathy has taken over the campus. There are a few shining stars on the faculty, but overall it is a sincere disappointment and deteriorating.

I am a parent who's child is in pre-k and I could not be more pleased. The dedicated staff are continuosly developing my son's skills and abilities in and outside the classroom. I am very pleased.
