A small (but not too small, just perfect size for intuitive learning environments) and private Catholic school in the heart of Los Angeles. We have been sending our daughter to Cathedral Chapel School from the kindergarten, and now she is turning 6th grade soon. We love our school in terms of the size of each grade class, top notch teachers and staffs, bonded relationships amongst parents with friendliness and commitment for school, faithful and spiritual learning, etc. are some of the highlights of what CCS has to offer. There are many students who have been attending school from the kindergarten, and that shows how the students and parents love the school. We heard of this school from the words of mouth from our close friends, and we definitely made a good decision. We highly recommend you joining us for a great learning opportunity for your kids like we did.

Our son started at CCS this year in the First Grade and he loves his class and teacher. She is dedicated to their education as well as their social development. The class size is small and the administration is great! We hope to continue there as we're just getting to know the community. The community is very diverse, which we love. If you're looking for a school in mid-city, this is definitely a great pick.

My three sons attended Cathedral Chapel School since Kindergarten (one is now in college, one in high school, and the last one still attends CCS). We love the school (having been there since 2010). The children are well prepared academically upon graduation, and ready for high school (and beyond). My sons made lifelong friends. It is truly a gem in the heart of the Miracle Mile!

My sons have attended Cathedral Chapel School for the past 4 years and our experience has been wonderful! The teacher's are so dedicated to the students and were quite the selling point when we were looking. This hidden gem of a school in Mid-City has been wonderful for our family. I attended CCS from Kinder to 4th Grade and was beyond thrilled to see that the diversity and quality of education had only skyrocketed in my absence. The classrooms and staff showcase the diversity that makes Cathedral Chapel School a "home" for so many families. It's also unsurprising that a school with so many wins in the Academic Decathlons has become a bit of a feeder school to some of the most prestigious high schools in the Greater Los Angeles Area. But even that is a testament to the leadership of the teachers and their dedication to the students. The school has supported my two very different children's needs beautifully and watching them thrive in school socially, emotionally, and -importantly- academically, makes me confident I made the best decision in choosing a starting point for my sons.

My oldest daughter graduated from this school and she will be attending Marymount in the fall. She started CCS in kindergarten and we love the school community. The teachers really care about the students. My daughter was part of the Academic Decathlon team and they have won 1st place in the LA region, 3rd place in CA, and 4th in the US this year!My youngest daughter is still in CCS and we are looking forward to the changes happening in the school.

This school has gone down hill. Don’t waste your money. There has been a mass exodus of families leaving. It does have a good price point but you get what you pay for. The administration is terrible and the principal was fired from the school when she was a teacher for inappropriate content on her school computer. She is not good at hiring teachers and there is A LOT of teacher turnover. If you have any issues w the school or your child you are lucky if you get any emails back. Check out other schools and maybe even non catholic ones and the diocese know all the terrible things going on and they don’t care either.

My children attended this school for several years. As others have reviewed, the administration and teachers are biased. They show favoritism to girls. If your child is African American, keep your eyes and ears open. Some families left the school because of the way their children were treated. The children are prepared for high school, but not encouraged to "think outside the box" or question their teachers. Unfortunately critical thinking is essential and kids are surprised when they get to high school. It's okay to encourage critical thinking. The school is diverse, but having programs to highlight diversity would be nice.

My experience is quite bad. Teachers are biased against boys. The faculty is corrupt. Racism is clearly visible (just ask students what skin colors get in trouble the most). I'd rate it a 5/10 only because the students stand together often and act as support groups to help each other.

Some members in administration need to learn some manners and control in their behavior in front of students. Their lack of patience and choosing to yell out their frustration doesn't reflect their age and position very well. Very surprising that they are a part of a private Catholic school. What a disappointment my child had to witness such behavior.

This school is excellent. For parents who are looking for a Catholic school in the West LA/Mid-Wilshire area, it is the best! It offers wonderful academic offerings, extra curricular activities; and most of all an environment where the students feel welcomed and comfortable. In short, it has been an environment that's very conducive to our children's learning and personal development. The school families are also great!

Bad school. The only thing I learned in my time here was that people will disrespect you in life. I had my first experiences here with inequality. Teachers favorite the "smart" students, and treat the rest like dirt

Our daughter started at CCS in Kindergarten this year and we are so happy with the school. We truly feel that we are part of a family. We have found the faculty and office staff to be very helpful and supportive.- and my daughter is surprising me every day with how much she is learning. Math is her favourite!!! CCS is a little gem in the middle of Los Angeles. We are so thankful for it and so happy it goes all the way up to Grade 8!

The community and education are the strength of this school. The parents are all very involved creating a family atmosphere. Passionate teachers and very diverse student body. My wife and I love this school. A top education at an affordable private school price. Check it out.

I like that Cathedral Chapel has a strong parent presence. We not only feel welcome on campus, we are encouraged to participate in all aspects of our son's education. I appreciate that my son has learned lessons using current apps and websites as well as text books and flash cards. The school seems very in touch with tried and true, old school teaching paired with cutting edge, modern technology. Most importantly, the principal and staff emphasize respect, responsibility and faith which is lacking in public schools these days.

A school is a place away from home, somewhere your children can feel comfortable and safe, a place to develop, learn and grow with confidence. We all want the best for our children, finding the right school makes a huge difference. My husband and I are extremely happy with Cathedral Chapel School. Moving to LA we found that the education system is so different then where we came from. My husband and I wanted a school where our children can learn strong academically and advance quickly. We enjoy how the school involves every grade when it comes to Spelling Bees, Religion Bees, Geography Bees and there Science Fair, it was one of the most fun experience to have all grades involved in. The schools computer class is amazing, each student learns on Mac Computers. The Art room is so fun, you never know what piece of Art you child will create in there. Spanish class is incredable how fast they learn to read, write and speak a new language. The Science Lab, is fabulous, something I only remember seeing in High School. The Music program is fantastic, the children develop and learn so quickly through the art of music. When we found this school there was no way I would even look at another school. we are incredibly happy hear and looking forward to seeing our children develop with Cathedral Chapel School.

Our children are completing their second year at Chapel, following a great experience at a highly sought after LA charter school. Leaving a progressive charter school for a traditional Catholic school was a bit of an adjustment – it took the first few months to get used to the pace, and calling teachers “Mr.” and “Mrs.” but they caught on. They’ve made great friends and we, as parents, have gotten involved (there are lots of volunteer opportunities). Chapel is academically rigorous, so be prepared. Students receive top honors at the academic decathlon every year. Chapel’s system works well – graduates are accepted in the best schools in LA (Loyola, Harvard Westlake, Notre Dame, Immaculate Heart, etc.) and in the nation. This year, two of our 8th graders are moving to New York and Maryland to attend top high schools. It’s really nice to know that our students are so well-prepared.In additional to strong academics, our kids are having fun – Family Fun Night, Halloween, Jog-a-thon, Spirit Day, competitive sports, etc. -- and the music programs during the year are jaw-droppingly AMAZING. Families are super nice and get together outside of school for “unofficial” social events, which gives everyone a chance to bond. Two enthusiastic thumbs up for Cathedral Chapel!

My daughter has been enrolled in this school, and this community has been very welcoming. The teachers have an abundance of resources and are willing to help children improve. I look forward to working with CCS this year!

All around horrible experience for my son. The grading curve is way too high. Even a 92% is a B, which brought my child's confidence down. I transferred my son out this year, but the trouble from this school has followed us. I requested a letter of recommendation and some necessary paperwork. They have stated that my son is so poor in English that the new school has placed my son in ESL. My son was born in the US, doesn't even speak his native language. I was simply appalled. I spoke with other parents and all students that transfer out of this school are having a hard time because of the poorly written letters. My son now believes that no matter how hard he tries, that he will be held behind. His confidence has dropped so incredibly low that he just wants to give up. My heart is broken and I don't know what to do to help him feel better. I am doing what I can to straighten out this mess but I'm afraid the damage is done. This school focuses on high reputation that they have no regard to the students. Does nothing for their confidence. and because you are transferring out, they just disregard you. Absolutely a horrible school. I regret sending my child here.

I grew up in a Catholic family. I was raised with Catholic values and traditions. I wanted to give those same things to my child, which included a school with the same. I made the worst mistake about that by sending my child here. The school states that it has values, yet my child was bullied during the year, and nothing was done. There was gossiping in the school yard, by the students which in turn was fueled by the parents who gossiped directly in front of the kids. The administration is consistently asking for donations, and they make those who cannot donate feel like outcasts. The school only cares about test scores, and not about the child as a whole. The teachers yell at the kids, call the kids out in the classroom and embarrass them. They care more about updating technology then having hot water, or even clean water running in the restrooms. The water fountains taste as if the water is dirty. I would not recommend this school to anyone. EVER!!!
