My son has been attending the school for the last two years. We have been pleasantly surprised with the experience. His teachers in sixth grade were absolutely excellent. And we are thrilled with his teachers in seventh grade as well. The principal and vice principals are doing a great job. John Burroughs is great school.

"I absolutely love this school - it's an incredible institution with a lot of potential. From the amazing faculty to the diverse student body, every aspect of this school is truly awe-inspiring. The academic programs are top-notch, and the extracurricular activities provide endless opportunities for personal growth and development. I feel so fortunate to be a part of this community and am excited to see what the future holds for this amazing school."

The teachers are caring and professional. Teachers are willing to communicate with parents and update the parents if situation arises. The counselors are professional and considerate. Thank you for doing an excellent job.

Zero parent involvement!! Almost one full school year has gone by without being able to go inside the school or meet with any teacher. As a parent I want to be involved but this school does not interact with parents except via zoom like webinars. I am missing personal involvement. Nor am I informed how my child is doing except weekly generated reports on Schoology. Parents conferences seem to take place secretly or they don’t even exist. This is our first year at JB and I am greatly disappointed. Also, there are rarely crossing guards around to assist students. I am missing the personal touch!!!However, academically it is a superior school and my daughter likes it.

First of all I am currently going to this school and I really hate it , not only are some of the teachers biased , but they are just kinda bad . Homework is fine but it could be better honestly . I’m not sure abt leadership . All I know is that the students in this school have no manner and they are super racist . I had people call me terrorist and call bad stuff becuase I’m Muslim , but they did nothing about it . It really depends on the teacher about learning differences , some teachers do basically nothing and some teachers are pretty helpful. What do they do abt bullying? Pffft they know literally nothing , so much kids get bullied in John Burroughs and they do nothing about it. I’m a muslim and it’s really common of me to get bullied by other students , I have complained to the school of students being full on racist and saying racist slurs and they didn’t do much good either. This school says it’s an anti bully zone. But doesn’t know the difference between joking and actual racism . John Burroughs , what are you doing . I have one more year and I don’t think I want to go anymore , I really don’t like it here , I’m glad it’s online for now. I don’t have to deal with racist people. Overall this school is just a no, I do not like it here, mostly because the kids have no manners and people are racist , and the school doesn’t know how to teach kids. , please do not go to this school if your kid gets bullied , or just don’t go to this school at all. Really bad. Everyone has no manners. Deserves a 0/5.

Right now, it is amazing. All of my teachers are polite. The food is wayyyyy better than elementary. The school is big and beautiful. There are a lot of different elections. Some are band, orchestra, college eds, Spanish class (Spain), Korean class, etc. I really like the music teacher who teaches us the basic notes. Then, in December and in spring, we will have concerts.

There's not much to expect. A public school is a public school; it will not always be the best. However, it is encouraged that you attend this school if you wish to have a great time with amazing memories.Starting with the staff, there's really not much hope. You can hope that you'll get to know them personally so they're nice to you. If they don't know you, sometimes they'll just shrug you off. They often don't have time to deal with minor issues and are tired of student problems, so they might be a bit... inconsistent. Teachers are okay. There are some that are just badmouthed by all the students in the school, but some others are really good and know how to teach. There really isn't much to say, but if you end up in the SAS program you'll have some nice teachers. The best part of this school is the memories you make. Social interactions are lit, drama occurs and everybody goes crazy... There isn't much bullying, and everybody just gets along with each other. Usually, the whole school bonds together in own small groups and conjoin with one another. Everybody usually knows one another and are nice. If drama occurs, it's usually between who hates who or fighting over a girl/boy. However, that's what makes the school fun. This school isn't mostly heavily focused on academics but rather on social interactions that everybody can be involved in. Laughters spread across the campus and it's happy, because most of the time you can fit in. The transition from elem to middle is so easy when you come here. Everybody's so friendly, but it's sad that the staff is not.Academically, it's okay. SAS program is still not even really considered SAS because they literally accept anybody. If you study, you're going to be fine.If you are rather adaptable to changes and want to enjoy yourselves without the STUDY HARD part before high school hits you, this school is definitely for you. It's not as bad as people say; I can tell that people just badmouth the school but enjoy the memories and bonds you make over the course of three years.

I graduated from this school in 2008, and have read some of the comments on this site regarding it. Yes, I agree, there were some racial cliques forming when I was in school, too. However, my group of friends were multi-racial and close-knit. (We were Ethiopian, Russian, German, Italian, Thai, Korean, Filipino, and Romanian.) While other kids may have been in their own racial groups, I still feel that so many students had a friendly connection to their teachers. Going to school was something I looked forward to daily, and I'm appalled students in the present generation disagree.

Wow. This is an amzing school with amazingly dedicated staff, hardworking principal, and educationally motivated students. The outside is beautifully maintained. This school is at the level of, if not better than, an expensive private school.

I graduated this year to rate the school it was really bad. I mean if they were going to tell us to fill in a survey about what needs to change I mean shouldn't you try to change it. for example the bathroom was really dirty when I was 6 grade and when I was 7 grade the bathroom was even more disgusting and in 8 grade the bathroom was so disgusting I couldn't stand to go inside but I only went because of my friends. some teachers are nice but I saw a history teacher make her students run around the field and then go to there fourth period after. I didn't even feel safe in this school. I am kind of embarrassed to say I went to that school. just because of there api does not mean they are a good school inside.
