St. Timothy, a small school with one class per grade, offers a warm and intimate environment for students and their families. It seems to depend on the grade but we have been fortunate to be in a class where the community is friendly and tightly-knit. However, there is room for improvement in terms of communication. As parents, we often find ourselves having to reach out to one another to stay informed about rules, events, and our children's daily activities, including academics. The school's inconsistency in communicating clearly often leaves us feeling frustrated. Also, I personally place a higher importance on mental and emotional growth especially during the elementary school years, rather than solely focusing on academics. St. Timothy has not been able to adequately support this aspect. Ultimately, the issue seems to stem from a lack of effective leadership. When problems arise, the principal is often unresponsive, further exacerbating the issue. This issue has led to numerous families choosing to leave for other schools. Schools are not just institutions for academic learning, but also places where social skills, emotional intelligence, and personal growth are nurtured. It is crucial for St. Timothy to strike a balance between focusing on financial stability and addressing other important aspects of their organization.

Thrilled to have my 1st grader and pre-K kids at St. Timothy. We feel so supported by the admin and teaching staff- They are engaged and present with the kids every second of the day! At STS there is the perfect blend of learning & fun. We can’t wait to grow with the school and participate in its wide range of sports and drama programs. Thank you STS for providing a safe harbor for our kids.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this school. Our child's favorite thing to do every day is literally wake up and get ready to go to school. Diversity is very important to us and St. Timothy is the best at cultivating a diverse class with unique backgrounds.

What’s not to love about STS? We have one child here and she absolutely loves it. Our other children will be going here when they get a little older, so that’s how much we appreciate what our children get (and will get) from the school. It’s a small school, but that’s great for feeling known. It’s easy to feel like staff cares about the children. Rigorous education – there is such a good push for a solid educational foundation. We felt like the pacing was good whereby it didn’t feel like too much time was ever spent on any one lesson. I found myself amazed at times with what my daughter had picked up in school. Small class size – I guess this can be a pro or a con depending on what you’re looking for. I really appreciate the small class size because it felt like extra attention would be given to the students. The small size lends itself to the feeling that the teachers can really identify any areas where the students might be falling behind. In fact, our child had been needing some extra help from us in a certain area and the teacher was quick to identify it to us so that we could take action. I really liked that. After-school curriculars – it seems like a nice blend of offerings throughout the school year to accommodate a lot of interests. Drama and after-school sports class always seemed to be popular.Safety – even though the school is right off Pico, the school really feels safe and secure. They have a good system to keep track of the children and solid gates and doors. During Covid, they really kept a good system for keeping the kids safe. There was weekly testing and great response times when there were positive cases. Tuition – the cost does go up each year, but it feels manageable and in line with costs that increase in all other areas of life these days. No complaints there. There are tuition discounts when you become a member of the church. Playground – while there isn’t playground, the kids seem to really enjoy the blacktop area. They can run around and play games. They can also play basketball and volleyball. In the end, we are really happy that we chose St Timothy. It’s been a great experience thus far and we look forward to more years here.

We couldn't be happier at St. Tim's. Our main concern going in was that our daughter receive individual attention and support that may be lacking at bigger schools for her food allergies. I wanted to make sure that the teachers and staff were on board, and that other students treat her with kindness and respect. Everyone at St. Tim turned out amazing. Ms. Lorraine is always on top of her medication lists, the teachers always check in to make sure the treats they distribute are safe for our daughter, and her classmates are super understanding as well. The school has this family feel that fosters compassion and kindness, and lets the kids feel free to be themselves. Our daughter is thriving there, both socially and academically.Another important thing is the energy there. Every day at drop off and pick up, I sense so much positivity from everyone there. The teachers and coaches truly care about their charges and it shows. I love all the extracurricular activities they offer. The Food Craft class by Ms. Nguyen was fantastic and Coach Rubin's camps are always a great success. The main thing is this - our daughter looks forward to every school day at St. Tim's. And in my book - this is priceless.

We didn’t choose St. Timothy School. Our kids did. They were in 2nd & 4th grade and terrified of leaving their public school. At their tour, they were greeted by a 6th grader who asked them what their favorite things were and then said: “I bet you’d like to write for our school newspaper.” To our other child, “You’d be perfect for student government.” Two years later, both predictions came true. The school was brilliant at helping our very different children each see their own potential and reach their goals.

St. Timothy is a great small private school that provides excellent education that shapes the entire student. My daughter has been a student there since Pre-K and now she will be entering 1st grade. The courses at St Timothy are more rigorous than at public schools, but the environment is very supportive and collaborative. All teachers are very knowledgeable, caring, and go above and beyond for their students. Teachers are also great at communicating with parents on a weekly and sometimes even daily basis. School offers after school programs and sports activities. You feel safe at STS and you know that everyone is watching out for your child. The entire staff will get to know you and your family, including the maintenance guy. Overall, STS is a very well rounded school. We love STS!

St. Timothy School may be small, but it offers excellent academics, great diversity/community, and really committed and caring teachers. We have two children who went from kindergarten (and 1st) through 8th grade, and our kids (and us parents) have had the best experiences. The middle school students compete and some students always place in the annual L.A. County Science Fair and move on to state and even national levels. The school has very inclusive sports program, giving even lower elementary school students a chance to learn and practice on B and C teams. The librarian is is a published author of many children's and YA books and who fosters a love of reading, and also leads creative writing workshops. STS students matriculate to many of the top Catholic schools, many with hefty merit scholarships, and also to highly competitive independent schools like Brentwood School, Geffen Academy, Harvard Westlake, Campbell Hall, Wildwood, etc. We highly recommend this school!

We are so grateful to have landed at this gem of a school 8 years ago. The academic and specials programs are both strong and engaging. Students have the opportunity to take part in their education in a multi-modal format that, in my experience, cements learning for all different types of learners. From programs like 'walking classroom' to small group & individual creative projects that fold in history, geography, ELA and science, I am delighted to know that my child is getting the chance to really engage in the curricula. In addition, I love the math curriculum which I feel has a solid pedagogical spiral woven into it.Across all grades and classes, the teachers are incredibly communicative, approachable, and supportive. I feel like they really know and understand my child. This student-teacher-parent connection is, for sure, one aspect that makes this school extra special for us.The leadership under Ms. Randle is nothing less than sterling. She, like her staff, is committed, open, supportive, and related. She has enriched the school curriculum so much over the years and she seems to be ever-more looking for ways to enhance the overall student experience. Finally, we are grateful to be part of such a diverse school community that emphasizes, at each grade level, the importance of values through the service learning program, their teaching about spirituality (we are not catholic), and their honoring of diversity, equality, and identity.

Excellent school with a strong sense of community, great values and teachers who truly care. Our daughter has attended for 9 years, and we have been consistently impressed with the school under the leadership of Ms. Randle, the principal. Even through Covid, the transition to online learning was smooth and the school continued to be a stabilizing presence in the lives of the kids. In addition to very strong academics, the school offers a plethora of additional activities, sports and clubs for all interests. Extra callout to the librarian, Ms. Howland, who is a published author of many children's and YA books. The kids really respond to having a published author (of books they can read!) as a close role model, and she works with the kids to inspire and teach them the art of writing.

We are pleased with our experience at St. Timothy School. Our child is challenged academically, and is encouraged to explore. There is a sense of community that is unmatched. The faculty are committed to their students success both inside and outside the classroom. One of the greatest challenges was the pivot to virtual learning in spring 2020. The school did a phenomenal job in keeping the students engaged and connecting with them daily. Course instruction continued and the faculty remained creative in their approach to educating in a virtual environment. The administration also actively engages with the families of the school. They request and use input from parents in their decision making. We plan to enroll at St Timothy School through 8th grade.

SUPER-DUPER-TERRIBLE!!!!! This school used to be an amazing school, with fairness, kindness, compassion, it was fun. But over the years things started to get worse, and now kids are counting down the days so they can leave this horrible place. At least the teachers have stayed amazing, and they always will. As a former student, (recently) I do not recommend this school at all. If the right changes were made, maybe I would have stayed.

Excellent! Our kids are safe, nurtured, challenged academically and held to strong/valuable norms. The school is another family element for our kids.

St. Timothy School has been a great experience for my children - they have excelled academically, but more importantly to me the school has helped them grow into confident human beings with a great, moral compass. The small class sizes, the academics, the nurturing faculty, the diverse community, all under the umbrella of the Catholic education, have been nothing but wonderful things for our family.

This is a small, academically rigorous, and loving school. As such, each child is given a lot of attention and the curriculum is tailored to each child's learning speeds. Advanced kids are identified and challenged appropriately. Teachers are engaged and loving and the kids are kind and happy. It's also a little known secret but St. Tim's math scores are the highest in the archdiocese on the standardized testing. So, things are going pretty well in the classroom too. Despite great test scores, the school isn't giving short shrift to the arts. The drama program is robust and there's a dedicated art and music teacher as well. Spanish is also compulsory. The parent community is also very engaged which makes the school and students stronger. The administration is also very responsive to parents' concerns and change can occur at the school fairly quickly if need be. The students are very diverse and is something we really value. This is a great school for our kid and we're lucky to have found it.

We are so happy since we shifted schools from a top LAUSD charter school to St. Timothy's. Our daughter is doing a second year of kindergarten, and the key here is COMMUNITY. Unlike our experience last year, this year she is getting top academics mixed with actual VALUES, warmth, and a sense of CARING. Kids are not just put into chairs or on a rug or disciplined in a vacuum - they are treasured. They are not anonymous. They are given a larger context for their actions, to help them care a bit more about who they ARE. They are taught their value to each OTHER, not just to their own achievement. Parents are warmer, the community is much more friendly, back to school night was not just about "my kid" - it was about the pride in the community and how we all need be a part of that. If you are looking for a school that is value based, that is top academically (kids matriculate to Harvard Westlake, etc etc) but is also warm, with a loving, caring environment, then this is your school. A BIG bonus: our teacher in Kindergarten has her PH.D in early childhood development! Masters degrees and higher are present here. And small class size - a huge bonus. We love it.

We are continually reminded of how lucky we are to have found St. Timothy School for our children several years ago. They go to school every day energized and excited to learn. St. Timothy's academics rate right up there with the Mirman School. In fact, St. Tim's has placed in the top 10 at the Academic Decathlon every year since we have been there. The advanced curriculum definitely isn't for everyone, but it has completely changed how our kids feel about school. Now school is a place where our kids are challenged to reach their potential, not a place where they are forced to "dumb it down" in order to fit in. The student body impresses us with their KINDNESS and pure TALENT. The teachers and staff are caring and positive in their interactions with both parents and students. On different occasions over the years we have contacted the teachers, the principal, the PE coach, the guidance counselor, and even the librarian regarding concerns or asking advice about our kids. We always feel heard, and everyone is RESPONSIVE. The classroom size is small, as is the entire school, so the teachers really get to know and care about each child, as do the support staff. Can't beat St. Tim's!

St. Timothy School is the best combination of what every parent loves about a private, public or religious school. It is hands down the best decision we ever made as parents. Three children have graduated from STS and one is currently in 6th grade. I could go on about the academics, curriculum, small class size, unbelievable amount of attention every student receives from their teacher, superb families with similar values, extensive sports and extracurriculars, very qualified teachers and Principal - but what makes me smile when I think about St. Timothy's - my kids are happy, bright kids with strong friendships, a moral compass and they always want to go to school and learn. It all started at St. Timothy's. Thank you St. Timothy's!

This school runs like a well-oiled machine! I love it! The faculty and staff are completely amazing! Traditions abound from cross-curricular projects, to sports/after school programs, to the Halloween carnival, to an amazing technology component, just to name a few. The teachers make sure the children are happy, engaged learners even as they reach more a little more from each; they are top notch! Parents are updated weekly, completely engaged in the process. The school scores are amazing, curriculum is very challenging. I like the fact that I can email teachers when my daughter had a rough night/morning or when she struggled with a concept at home and get an update on her progress at the end of the day via email. I like the amazing diversity, we are hard working families that send their children here because we like a small learning community and want our kids to get individual attention. We care about strong Christian values, and we are a welcoming and inclusive bunch. Wish we had a better play yard, and/or a garden, but at least there is a great park and golf course across the street and many a picnic happen over there, not to mention my kids' golf lessons. :)

St. Tim's is a fantastic school! The environment is challenging, employing Saxon Math programs and a huge focus on reading and community service learning projects. Each teacher cares deeply about their students and we couldn't be happier! The pace at which they are learning is amazing! The cirriculum is accelerated so in 3rd grade they are reading 4th grade material. They are constantly growing, too, and adding enrichment programs to round out our kids' experiences. The only complaint I have is the amount of money we seem to fork over in addition to tuition, but they put the money to good use.
