Our youngest is graduating this year and our time at Rossmoor will be coming to an end. We were so lucky to have had the most incredible teachers every single year! My kids thrived at Rossmoor Elementary School.

We have two kids at the school and our experience has been fabulous all around. The teachers care about the students, the students are challenged and enjoy their time at school.

Do not like this school or the attitude it reflects on to be students . Belsha is rude and has no sense of speaking to parents with empathy.

All this school cares about is Test scores, My son should of been pulled out long ago, but the former Principle Mrs. Spirato s seem to keep the teachers from being out of line. This year there is a new Principle and I have seen a lot of racism and it was even put into words in an IEP draft. I believe they take Minority students and funnel them in and put them in a box, classifying and giving Minorities labels to help their funding and and test scores. This year has been a nightmare for my 3 children. I have one in TK whom they pick on on act like she is suppose to be an adult, you know they want to put her in a box and label her too. Same with the 1 st grader. We lived in the District and they treated us all like an outcast including the parents. All of my kids are switching schools for 2017-2018 school year. We are suppose to be uplifting are kids no matter what Race or background they come from. I believe institutionalized racism starts at schools like these and it is really sad.

We have been very pleased with our daughter's experience at Rossmoor Elementary. We are impressed with how much communication the school provides to the parents, how much parent involvement is welcomed and celebrated, the caliber of teaching our child is receiving, and the level of education she is encouraged in. She has been reading since the TK Level, and I truly believe that is because from the start, her teachers have encouraged her in reading, as well as challenged her. The environment is wonderful and welcoming, and the principal, Ms. Belsha, is very hands on and involved with what is happening at the school.

We have been very disappointed in Rossmoor. We live in district and had high expectations for this school, but quickly found out that the emphasis is on test scores and being "the best," instead of putting students first. There is an extreme lack of communication and there is no type of "partnership" between the parents and the staff. I spent many hours volunteering in my children's classrooms and was involved in the PTA and was shocked at how some of the teachers spoke to the students and how the parents were treated. Other than the 2nd grade teachers who are absolutely amazing, it is difficult to find many positive things to say about Rossmoor. We will not settle for this type of environment for our children and will not return.

Rossmoor is an excellent school. My son enjoyed his time there, from 2nd grade to 5th. School staff are very committed to work hard with all students. We don't live in Los Alamitos but we always fell at home at Rossmoor. The only thing that I regret is with the District that first, sent letters to choose middle school , and later on, they don't honor the middle school chosen.

We are a new kinder family and we LOVE Rossmoor! Our son's teacher is tech savvy, smart and creative. I know my child is getting the best experience possible- a real 21st century education. Rossmoor has a strong culture of teacher collaboration, the most rigorous and authentic academic programs and a beautiful, safe campus. Couldn't be happier.....

Rossmoor Elementary... Wouldn't put my child there again... We pulled them out, few great teachers but really lacking a good principal. Sad because the potential is there but with a leader that can't lead, where can you go? There is too much gossip and game playing with the principal. Sorry, don't want my child back there...

PROS: Doreen is great (front office) and she, unlike some of the staff has been the most kind, helpful person there. The health clerk is also courteous and open. The Kids Corner staff seems to have it together and are polite and organized. CONS: A child's first experience of school is in Kindergarten, and the way teachers and staff treat children AND their parents will help shape their like or dislike of school. We've had poor experiences so far. We're not talking about hand-holding, we're talking common courtesy. I've no room to go into details but here was our first day: K Orientation was 20 mins with your children to help them adapt, the kids being taken out of the room and listening to the teacher talk the rest of the time (about 50 mins). Unfortunately she spoke for ALL of the remaining time and said "time's up, sorry, no time for questions." If you wish to speak to a teacher, you have to make an appt. Our experience so far is poor, and my child does not like school. Sad for a "high rated" school. My advice: Don't threaten to throw children's belongings away. Be pleasant to children and parents. These are 4-6 year olds who are sensitive and very young!

Rossmoor Elementary, although some are very happy here, I was not. Lived in the district, volunteered regularly and gave many hours to assist this school at various fundraisers and activities. Principal and office lacking. Too many intra-district transfers make it difficult to build friendships and also, too many bully type kids. We left.

Rossmoor is a wonderful school. The teacher, parents and administrator go above and beyond to meet the needs of the students. My children are kind, positive role models, understand behaviors to model and those to ignore. It takes a team of parent, teacher and staff to build a school. We have an amazing amount of parent participation, and the school continues to break records of student achievement. We LOVE Rossmoor!

Worst school ever I had to remove my son from this school due to bullying by staff members. This school will improve when they find an alternative to bullying. I also feel that they need a new principal that can manage the staff and handle diversity.

I went there since K - 5. I was bullied a lot there. Lots of snobby kids. I only had 9 good friends. It was an ok experience. But I switched districts, I will miss Los Al, but I am enjoying it.
