This school is good when it comes to education, but the administration needs work. Bullying is continuous with the same kids and it is not handled effectively. Overall teachers are kind and go above and beyond for the most part.Tons of activities with music, art, and sports.A lot of opportunities of succes, but also the constant bullying isnt helpful. Sometimes something bad will happen and admin wont call home. The new nurse made some mistakes. It matters but also we move on.

We initially moved to the neighborhood FOR this school, based on the ratings. However once we were at the school a few years, we saw that the learning environment was more detrimental than helpful to our child so we switched out to a different district. The difference in our child being at the new school is astounding. The administration at Tincher needs to actually listen to the parents and children and make changes to the teaching staff accordingly.

Tincher overall has a lot of great attributes. Administration has been very responsive and communicates effectively with any issues I’ve questioned or raised. The principal has K-8 to deal with so it’s understood she has a lot on her plate; yet I feel she listens and try’s her best to listen to my requaests and is open-minded. Teachers so far have all been excellent. The new group of Kindegarten parents seems to be very involved in PTA and local enrollment is high. A lot more families moved into our home area over the last couple years and I think it bodes well for current and future enrollment locally. Overall, our experience with administration, teachers, school activities, & PTA have all been superb compared to another local school we attended for a few years that ‘scores’ highly on this website. It seems to me that the few negative comments reviewed overshadow the majority of positive experiences that don’t seem to be posted. Future is looking bright at Tincher!

Majority of the teachers at Tincher think they can talk to the parents like they are trash. Every year the women teachers are so rude and condescending. They have no respect for the parent. They seem to take the behavior of the child and bring that into the relationship they are developing with the parent. Worse attitudes from the teaching staff!

I felt that this was the school for us, but as some posters have commented, that seemed to change in Grade 2. We voiced some concerns about our child's teacher & that was the beginning of the end. We feel that children are being systematically targeted for failure based on the like and dislike of parents (and worse there seems to be a racial component), as I've heard has happened with other students forcing families to leave the school. We feel left out and are thinking about changing schools for his 5th grade year. The feeling of dread that we have everyday in having to deal with the staff is wearing on me and my spouse. The office staff is unhelpful, roll their eyes and at times act superior to you when you ask questions or worse yet, question why you need certain information at all about public things (i.e. names of teachers, sports coaches, criteria for GATE clustering or testing, etc.). I've spoken to one parent whose child was targeted because of the parent and the school actually tried to retain her child who previously spent 4 years in the GATE cluster, but suddenly in 5th grade was in danger of retention! Their way of getting the family to leave the school I guess.

Tincher prep. Transferred to this school in fall 2013 with my first grader. Tincher has been very responsive to any situation. The principal has gone to great lengths to add new opportunity to the pupils. I am happy we made the change.

My concern regarding this learning institution is as listed: With all the minority enrollment that currently exist at the school. Why, and I place a direct emphasis on WHY, why are there not ONE black teacher on this staff. Not one, that is either a great peculiar coincidence or a GIGANTIC statement as to what respect the young black people are to receive by way of sincere considerations in many areas at that place of learning. This oversight is the reason for the lower rating of the Principal and teacher quality...

With 3 kids, I just celebrated my 10th year at Tincher and can honestly say "WOW". From autism pre-K programs to stellar GATE teachers...they have it all. It starts at the top with a strong principal Dr. An and a fine staff who set high standards. Tincher is a loving place to learn and grow with an abundance of fun programs.
