We enjoyed Hygiene at first, but this year has been a very disappointing experience. It seems test scores are more important than allowing kids to have authentic learning experience. When a child does not complete work because of unrealistic teacher expectations, they have to sit out of recess, the thing they probably need the most! Bullies are allowed to continue with their behavior and kids that speak up are silenced and ignored.

Hygiene Elementary School is an exemplary educational facility. From the moment of our first tour until now we have been greatly pleased. The environment is absolutely lovely. It's tucked away in the country and feels quite safe. The administration is fabulous and seems to support a strong parent/ school alliance. The teachers have been wonderful and caring. Also, my child seems challenged academically and also has fun throughout her school day. There has been no major bullying issues we have been aware of. Issues between children have been dealt with quickly and respectfully. We cannot say enough good things about this school and I recommend it highly.

We’ve had to open enroll out of this (which should be our home school) due to endless issues that they couldn’t resolve over the two years we attended. Lack of special education support, intense bullying with no resolution “Kids will be kids”, racism among students and staff, teachers leaving often and replacements are brand new graduates (or not even graduates yet) starting mid year and unprepared for classroom management, Principal is stuck in her way and is either unwilling or unable to manage the school in a way that follows current legal guidelines. The Hawk Air program eats so much time and energy each year but the kids get so little out of it, other than a play day they enjoy, it’s not a learning environment and it’s a huge waste of resources. The testing pressure during mandated testing is enormous and honestly the only time education seems to be prioritized.

We’ve attended Hygiene since preschool but we took a year off for virtual school, due to covid. Since we came back, many teachers have left and continue to leave the school in seeming droves. Though this is our home school, we recently decided to open enroll to another school, mid year. Many factors were involved in our decision, but the biggest reason was that testing pressure was causing anxiety in our fourth grader. Great emphasis and resources are put on the annual capstone project, HawkAir. While H.A. is the biggest feature that separates Hygiene from other schools in the area, many other programs fall flat.Administration/leadership is lacking, often cloying. Testing is very important to the administration at the expense of joy in learning. We didn’t find this to be a very nurturing environment.

We open enroll so that our daughters could enjoy a community based nurturing school environment and we’ve never been disappointed. 5 stars

This is an awesome school! I feel very fortunate that my children go here. The staff is caring and supportive, the extra curricular opportunities go from technology and robots to arts and theater, and the atmosphere there very warm and friendly. My two children have been very happy at Hygiene.

Hygiene Elementary is a wonderful school. The teachers are attentive and care deeply about their kids. The leadership and staff are high quality and really work hard each day to make Hygiene a great place for students, parents, and the community. My boys enjoy school and are getting a wonderful education that will help them succeed going forward into middle school, high school, and postsecondary ed. I highly recommend this school and the wonderful, talented staff and teachers!

Hygiene has been a wonderful school for my two sons. We have been at the school for 3 years so far and I have had nothing but positive experiences. The boys teachers provide weekly updates by email and are always available if I have a particular area of concern. One of my sons has some challenges with focus and attention and his teachers have done an amazing job employing fidgets and exercise balls in the classroom to support his learning. Hygiene also offers a full realm of art, music, PE and STEAM Lab. All of the students participate in STEAM design projects throughout the year which really seems to get them excited about science, technology and learning in general!

From the moment I walked into this school, I was in love. The drive there was easy, and quite gorgeous (see mountain views and surrounding farms) I was greeted with a friendly, attentive front office staff, then given a personal tour from the principal Renee, who made plenty of time for me and my son, and our questions. This is our second year here at Hygiene and my son and I couldn't be happier. The whole staff is amazing! They care, they are passionate about this school and their students. They are kind, and fun. I've never seen a student (or teacher) upset by being at school, they are all filled with excitement as they await the morning bell. The school is STEAM focused, so the students have a well rounded education. There are very small classes (six children in my half day kinder class), in a district bursting with over crowding. I'm so glad this is my neighborhood school, I made the right choice when sending my son here.

The staff are excellent, the principal is absolutely engaged in the students growth and education, and the parents and PTO are committed to the schools achievement and excellent. The environment is perfect for learning and situated in a beautiful landscape. The ranking I see now is a completely inaccurate portrayal of this school, and should be 8 or above. Our son loves this school, we love the many healthy school events like Jogathon and Fall Festival, and look forward to many years of having our child grow and learn in this marvelous elementary school.

I think that people are right when they say that the principle. The people that work in the office are very disrespectful but the teachers are very nice and they care about the students. The old principle was so nice. They made probably the worst decision changing the principle, Otherwise this is an amazing school.

I was so impressed when I first came into Hygiene Elementary School. The office staff was so helpful and very sweet to my daughter and myself. They did everything they could to answer all my questions. The principal took us on a tour of the school and made sure we felt comfortable and excited about joining the school. I am so excited that a month into it I have made the best decision to have her come to Hygiene and recommend it to anyone looking for a school that offers love, great learning and a belonging to a community!

I have two children attending Hygiene and I have been so impressed with how caring and compassionate the staff is from the main office to the classroom to the cafeteria. Hygiene is all about educating the whole child. They focus on movement, academic rigor and the arts with a natural knack to reach kids. Not very many schools in this district are able to maintain that small school environment and Hygiene has that small community feel. You know what they say, small community, large family. I would not want my kids going anywhere else.

Hygiene is an amazing school! I have 3 children here and have been a parent here for over 5 years. The great school experience starts when you walk in the front door and are greeted by the front office staff. This friendly, loving greeting carries over into the classroom. The teachers develop an amazing relationship with their students and get to know them and are able to meet their ever changing needs. My children love coming to school everyday and always come home with a smile on their faces. The principal has done a great job transitioning the school and making sure all students are prepared for the real world! I highly recommend this school to anyone in Longmont! The whole child is considered in every aspect at Hygiene Elementary.

This new principal is not interested in the development of the children as much as she should be. I have 2 students that attend and I am transfering them based on her and her staffs lack of attention towards the students. The old principal was awesome and had a wonderful staff. Sad to say that it's not the case anymore! One very dissapointed parent!

Hygiene is a great elementary school. They teach the 'whole child' approach, and the arts programs (P.E.. Art and Music) certainly assist the children in grasping the material they are to learn...plus they get to play on a wonderful playground! We are not in the district, but we find the teachers caring and very good and worth the drive, The atmosphere (with so many examples of the children's works hanging in the hallways!) is quite delightful, the school is run in a very organized manner, and the administration and staff have a lot of energy and talents. Itt is a better school than our local one and has a very caring staff that teaches well..
