I have three children and two are still enrolled at Alpine, the eldest is now a middle school student. We have been really happy with all aspects of their education at Alpine. Small class sizes, PE, music and art every other day and weekly Spanish language instruction, which aligns with International Baccalaureate standards. This is an amazing school that has diversity (abilities, race, socioeconomic, etc) and really is student-centered. Alpine offers student clubs, has a community garden that is expanding, and an active PTO. There is a sense of community and welcome that isn’t replicated at other schools. I would recommend this school to any family considering where to enroll their children.

Alpine is a wonderful neighborhood school. They maintain smaller class sizes with fabulous teachers. We have been nothing but impressed with everyone in the school and my kids love attending. They come home often talking about the fun activities they did and I’m blown away by some of the things they’ve learned. The focus on STEM and IB are awesome!

My son has been attending Alpine since Kindergarten and I can't believe this year will be his last year as a 5th grader here! He has had amazing teachers that that have made a point to get to know him, how he learns, and how best to help him be successful. Communication and follow-through from the office could be better, but the teachers are at the heart of what makes this an amazing place. If I were to do it again I would still choose Alpine as our school.

I have two elementary-aged students and they have had the best experiences at Alpine Elementary School. The principal knew my first grader’s name, and she goes above and beyond to connect with families. Each of my children’s teachers have been really phenomenal and while I want my two youngest to have their own experiences I secretly want them to keep having the same teachers as my eldest because they were that good. This school is diverse not only in terms of the racial makeup up the student body but also because of the socio-economic, and language diversity. I can’t recommend this school enough and encourage all families to come inside, meet the staff and enroll.

We will be starting our third year at Alpine and have been very happy with our experience. Our kids have had wonderful teachers who care and ensure the students get the best education. Through these crazy Covid times we feel our teachers at Alpine have gone above and beyond to engage with the kids and make learning fun at school and online. They did an amazing job keeping our kids safe during the pandemic. The before school care is great and very helpful for working parents. Our kids love going to school everyday and we love Alpine!

My boys have both attended Alpine since Preschool and it has been an amazing experience! The focus at Alpine is on the whole child, and not just a test score. There is a system of support for those that need differentiation or challenge and my boys are being taught to problem solve and think for themselves, not just spew out facts. I wouldn't send my kids anywhere else.

My child attended Alpine from preschool thru kindergarten. We now have him at another school and are amazed at the difference. We are having to catch him up to the level the new school expects because his education at Alpine was insufficient. Everything about the school is poorly run. It starts with the principal, Dede, and trickles down. The drive line in the morning is a complete cluster and a disaster waiting to happen with cars cutting in and out. There is no order to the drive line at all. The teachers are trying but do not have support from the administration. There is no energy or excitement about this school and already in kindergarten, my child hated going to school every day. At his new school, he is engaged and happy and excited to get to school in the morning, as he should be as a kindergartener. We had high hopes for Alpine since the school was such a nice neighborhood school and close enough to walk to school every day. I would not recommend the school to anyone until their is a major overhaul in leadership and structure.

The front desk at Alpine Elementary is rude, there's one lady in particular that puts her nose where it doesn't belong. The teachers are all amazing, the school itself is wonderful. It's just the rude front desk lady that needs know that she is dealing with human beings.

I have two kids here. We moved here from CA a few months ago. I was apprehensive to send my kids here because of the grade, we're use to 9/10 schools. Though, I have been impresses with the extracurricular classes CA schools have either done away with or reduced. Both my children love the IB/STEM programs and Mr. Axel! They have music, art, P.E., and Spanish weekly sometimes twice, depends on rotation. The staff has been welcoming and very friendly. Some of the classroom work has been repetitive, my children had done some of the work in last years grade or earlier before we moved. Overall, i am happy I chose this school (our home school) as opposed to another. I am looking forward to next year. (3rd/5th grades)

This school is on a downturn. I have been involved at Alpine as a parent helper and volunteer almost since the year it opened and feel like the quality of the school has greatly declined. None of my children will be attending Alpine any more. I have to agree that, in spite of the efforts of some great teachers, the overall "vibe" in the school has lost the fun and enthusiasm that it used to have. The stress of STEM, IB, TCAP tests, and a stern administration have taken their toll and taken the fun right out of learning for the students.

I have been tied to the SVVSD for over 25 years, both as a student and now as a parent. I have been through great schools and I have been through the not so great. To me, Alpine falls far below what I consider a 'great' school. Multiple great teachers have left the school in the last few years. I can't help but chalk it up to the NO FUN atmosphere that the principal has enstilled. When you walk into a Kindergarten classroom, it isn't full of joy and giggles. It is full of little kids sitting at tables and doing work. (The training of perfect little testers) The school does absolutely nothing, to make these kids enjoy school. Even the 'Fun Run' was disappointing. The one time in the year they could have done somethjng exciting for the kids, they failed. The run consisted of running around a circle 20 times... The prizes were just as sad. It gave my children no desire to even raise money. An example of a prize... Staying after school and playing with bubbles! Wow! It is unfortunate but we will be leaving Alpine in search of a more engaging educational environment. Ask any teacher in the district what they think of Alpine Elementary. Guaranteed it won't be positive.

It has a good plan for high achieving students in classroom setting. I like the monthly character piece that goes with the IP program. I like as a parent I know what the units of inquiry are. The music program is strong and my children have to demonstrate their learning to me yearly.
