My son and daughter are so happy to be back in school in person. He enjoys being there. They work the kids hard all day so homework doesn’t need to too long. Kids need to kids.

My experience is neutral, my kids are doing great and my kids love the school, and I am not using the word love as a for of expression, I am using it as a literal expression. As a parent, I am not 100% convinced though, some of the teachers are great and they display amusement but there are about 4 staff members that do not convince me. The reason I am stating my opinion freely is due to the fact that we pay for this school, if it was a public school, my opinion would be much lighter. At times I feel that some of the actions are reactive from the staff and they are not proactive, the communication letters are somewhat late and at times really late. I do respect their efforts as it is a private school in a tough area and I am only stating my personal experience with the school

Sister Rita is no longer principal..the new principal is nothing like sister Rita. She is not principal-like and difficult to to talk to. She is so aggressive in her talk...so defensive. I don't think she came to fix whatever needed to be fixed from the sisters. School is probably in worse condition. And she always smells like cigarettes. Kids complain about that. We can see her smoking at the parking lot of the taco bell across the street. I don't know how this is a good Catholic model for kids.

I attended this school in the mid-80s to early-90s and it has always been a safe haven for the young children of North Long Beach. I highly recommend this school as Sr. Rita is still the principal, Sr. Debbie is still the 8th grade teacher, and Sr.Dora is still there to provide additional love, guidance, and education to those children. The school has done an excellent job of recruiting highly talented faculty and I see a lot of greatness in this little school because of it. I have met families who go on and on about how great this little school is, even compared to other great Catholic schools in the area! Make a wise decision and enroll your students here. It will change their life as it did for me. I can't imagine my life without the Sisters of St.Athanasius. May God bless you all at St. Athanasius for many, many, many years to come.
