We’ve been at Coronado for five years now. It was a tough start with the new principle in 2020-21 school year but she’s done a great job. We’ve had great teachers and great after school opportunities focusing on STEAM activities. We’ve really come to enjoy the parent community as well

We did not have a great experience at Coronado. Principal was not communicative. Staff was ok, but could do better at being open to parent communication.

This will be our 4th year with our principal, she is incredible. She has fostered relationships with students, families as well as the community. Teachers pride themselves on working here, and turnover is very low. There is a GT center program here as well as academics that meet the needs of all students. We have been so happy here the past 7 years!

Last year, we felt well informed about what was going on at school and our student was thriving. We felt both welcome and encouraged to participate. This year, we have seen a big change. Communication from class teachers about what students are learning is helpful, but the lack of communication from the principal - including unwillingness to meet with parents and failure to respond to email - has been extremely disappointing. There is a general impression that parents and staff are feeling frustrated and discouraged. Furthermore, we have witnessed a biased political climate within the school that does not belong there. Recent posters and window displays are definitely intended to promote a certain agenda.

I love this school. I have 1 kid in GT and the other with learning difficulties. It rises to the challenge of both.

I would give it a neutral rating as they really need fix things and have more understanding towards families

I have 3 children at Coronado Elementary. Their individual experiences have all been above our expectations. Their teachers genuinely care about each of our kids, and have met all of their needs; academically, socially and emotionally. When you walk into the school, you immediately feel welcomed. There is a sense of community at Coronado, of family and friends, and we are blessed knowing our children feel safe and are growing and thriving there.

We had 3 children at this school, now we have none and are so much happier. Bullying is ignored, almost encouraged! You go to the principals office and get a candy bar. The principal expressed several times to various parents that GT wasn't her priority, 2 of our children were in the GT program. When we first started at this school there was a different principal and it was a different story, amazing school, great ratings, we were so proud our kids had the opportunity to go there. Now I won't recommend this school to anyone, parent involvement has decreased dramatically, we know so many families who have left this school and are so much better off! It's sad, there are some good teachers there but even most of them are leaving. The school is unrecognisable from the school it was when we started 6 years ago.

Today the principal at Coronado Elementary was reported to have emailed her teachers that the inauguration today was not an appropriate subject or learning tool for students. Is this America? Do teachers not have a right and a responsibility to teach students about the Democratic process? If this is any indication of the direction of public education, it is a sad day for America.A retired teacher

As parents we could not be more disappointed with the quality of differentiated instruction and the improper use of technology. Technology seems to be integrated into the classroom as a classroom management tool vs. a tool to enhance and individualize instruction.

This is a bad school. We had a good teacher for first, second, and third grades and an average teacher for fourth. However, a long-term sub in fifth was a bad teacher. She yelled at and humiliated kids. There was no learning, and all work was sent home as homework. After multiple complaints, the school still ignored the problems we were facing. We have now moved to another school, and are happier. My child also faced bullying ignored by the school's staff. She was advenced, but was unchallenged, even in the GT program.

We love Coronado! This school is a GT magnet school for the district, and it shows throughout the entire school. The school is great at teaching social skills as well as traditional academics. The entire school is on a token-system for encouraging positive behavior. The teachers all are familiar with the social/emotional needs of gifted learners as well as the academic needs. Our child hasn't been successful in other environments, but he is very successful at Coronado. The entire school is friendly and the teachers and administrators know every child and family by name. Chess club is the most popular activity, and Legos are the most-played-with toy in after-care. Parent involvement is high, but it doesn't feel cliquish. The school is also proactive and attentive to children on IEPs. The school psychologist is great. They really focus on the needs of the individual child, and will provide services if they deem it will benefit a child, regardless of whether or not the child is on an IEP or 504 plan. I can't say enough positive things about this school. It's such a positive and inclusive learning environment.

My child was in Kindergarten and the Teachers did a good job. I tried to volunteer once a month just to see how thing were going in the room. yes, there were 22 kids and one teacher assistant. That is alot of kids and I think the Teacher did a great job keeping her eye on all of them. One child was in question for bullying!.. such a young age.. needs to be dealt with and addressed.
