I have the pleasure of sending my daughters to Fiske Elementary School and I couldn't be happier with their education. The academic curriculum is challenging and stimulating, and the teachers are dedicated to helping each student reach their full potential. The school places a strong emphasis on social emotional learning, which has helped my daughters develop important skills like empathy and resilience. The culture at Fiske is truly special. The staff goes above and beyond to create a positive and inclusive environment for all students. They use posters and events to encourage students to be their best selves and to build a sense of community. My daughters have always felt safe and supported at Fiske and I know that this has helped them to thrive academically and personally.I would highly recommend Fiske Elementary School to any parent looking for an excellent education for their child. The school is tRuehl special and I am grateful for the wonderful experience my daughters have had there.

There is nothing particularly innovative or unique about this school, which is disappointing. The kids it draws from largely come from extremely educated and affluent households, so the sky should be the limit here. There is no foreign language instruction. Cafeteria food is bad. Teacher quality is variable - some are outright amazing and others are not. There seems to be no genuine and sustained effort to get skilled teachers. If you have great teachers in a supportive and engaged community (which this is)severything else falls into place.

Our son has had a great experience at Fiske kindergarten. The teachers are supportive, fun and are working hard to help the kids achieve not only academic but important social milestones. In a community which puts a lot of pressure on kids to perform academically, I feel they are doing well to balance learning and life skills. There are certainly larger class sizes than many would want, but I have not seen our son suffer as a result of this, if anything it's helped with his confidence and sense of independence.

I feel the school has been academically quite rigorous and my children are happy. Given a huge mandate the principal is give, I believe he does a very good job. I am impressed by how individualized an experience they are able to give despite it being an overcrowded elementary school.

The principal is a enthusiastic manager/administrator who has his hands tied by a teacher staff that is ok but not great and some are outright terrible. There is not a lot of discussion around learning pedagogy. The families are type A+. Almost every kid is in at least one outside math program and some are in multiple. The social environment is meh. Mean girls seem to rule. Not too much supervision tho all the right posters about teamwork, etc are on the walls.

This school is not a good learning or social environment for everyone. High average test scores can mostly be attributed to family support in this generally affluent, involved community. Communication/access to teachers/principal is challenging. Principal generally stands by teachers no matter how egregious the problem, but I get the sense that there could be better communication between principal/teachers. Principal exhibits overwhelmed/confused attitude about his role. Have a question about general curriculum or adapting it for your special needs child? He will throw up his hands and say he does not know what the curriculum is for the district, much less how to customize it for your child. Have a concern about communication? He is bullish about the school steering a course without parental input. His views are more consistent with educating older students, not elementary students. He has expressed that it is not the school s job to worry much about social development - the school s role is to educate. Unfortunately, social issues often get in the way of education. When our child made no academic progress for a year, we started tutoring our child intensively ourselves.
