As a past guard employee of the school I do not recommend for African American kids I have videos of the children being bullied unfortunately to say this is a school for mainly white children as that may be when the kids are bullied the school doesn’t care the black kids are being called the n word the children aren’t focused on really learning and the teachers are not allowed to fail the children there they have to pass them due to there parents status the parents run this school for sure the children are smoking vaping one even tried to burn the building down they are allowed to dress vaguely and all the staff just never mind the amount of butt cheeks hanging out and boobs and they just gossip among there selves of how they shouldn’t be allowed to wear certain things they treat the security poorly I mean none take lunch breaks or even paid for all of the time off that’s why they all quite this place is totally a hang out spot I will say there are some pretty dope teachers there and the new principal is such a nice man however for the children they are not learning anything just being passed along the district is just set up for the children to just pass along to the next grade and it’s not like that any other district there is no opting out of test but hey who cares about actually learning when ur passing right !!!

I currently go to this school, I moved from Mount Vernon. The school is large, spacious, and nice. If you plan on moving when you're in 7th or 8th it's hard because everybody has their own clicks. I have seen homophobia and racism but that's to be expected in every school in Westchester. (From a person of color myself) I average around 90s in all my classes and I would say that if you don't come at 6th grade you will NOT be granted as much opportunity. Some teachers are fun and engaging others are tough but otherwise nice. Would probably recommend.

Mostly good teachers, some bad. Very safe. Needs new air conditioning and heating. Socially it’s pretty bad. You don’t learn much. It’s OK.

My son had his best year ever at Hommocks this year. The teachers are wonderful. They are kind and focused on what each students needs. The team format makes the school small. The new principal is a star.

I go to this school, and there are so many problems with it. Racism. Homophobia. And the leadership at the school is so ineffective and uncoordinated. The school can't hire a secretary for some of the offices! I have had some great experiences with some teachers, and some not so great experiences. The school is overall not very good at handling situations, especially related to bullying. I know many people that have been bullied, but the school hasn't done much about it. And if you try to defend yourself at this school, you will be the person ending up in trouble too. There are also a lot of kids that act like sovereign citizens at this school. They aft like they're better than everyone else, just because they grew up on the "rich side of town" (the manor). A few years back, the school had some racial controversy because a white student called a black student the N word. And the school handled it absolutely horribly, and the story ended up on regional TV. I was also called a racial slur at Hommocks, and the school could have done a 50x better job at handling it. I also remember a lesbian girl left the school because of how much she was bullied, and how badly the school handled it. The school isn't all bad. I have had some truly great teachers, and I especially like how it is one of the only schools in the U.S. that offers Mandarin as a language option, and not just the run-of-the-mill Spanish and French. Hommocks has some pretty good teachers. The 8 A.M. start time of Hommocks is honestly too early. And overcrowding in the stairwells is a huge issue, and some students have been trampled and injured. Overall, my experience at Hommocks has been mostly negative, with incompetent staff, a lack of resources, and a boatload of other issues, that could easily be made better.

My daughters experience at Hommocks and mhs has been horrible. We moved here from new rochelle and its a world of difference for the negative. New rochelle School district is golden. All these parents who leave positive reviews on here in curious to know what race they are. I guarantee they are not people of color.

Excellent school. The teachers are incredibly dedicated. There is a wide range of engaging activities. The school is bright and cheerful. The children are the best adverisement for the school - they are happy and well behaved. A great experience!

My son is now a junior at MHS and is excelling. His experience at Hommocks gave him a huge boost of confidence and allowed him to believe in his abilities and take risks such as taking on heavier courseloads with two APs and 2 Honors classes this year. I literally could not recommend this school more. We are very lucky to have Hommocks here in our community!

They do an amazing job of making the school feel smaller and able to be navigated. Well thought through how they spend their day. My oldest daughter is in 6th grade and is thriving. Couldn't ask for more.

We were delighted with our two children's experience at Hommocks Middle School. They were both approaching their middle school years with slight trepidation (different school; lockers; different classrooms for different classes; bigger school; etc.) but they adapted very quickly, in part thanks to the school's nurturing environment. The curriculum is solid, the teachers are very good and caring, the facilities are very good, and the arts / music programs are outstanding. We could not have been happier.

All of my children had a wonderful experience at Hommocks. The district does a really great job of transitioning elementary school kids into high school bound students. Plenty of fun mixed with plenty of learning...a really healthy balance.

Hommocks is horrible. If you care about your children at all, do not send them there.

Hommocks somehow works magic and turns middle school into a great experience for a really amazingly talented and diverse population! You hear so many "I hated middle school" stories...well, I can say all four of my children have LOVED Hommocks! The teachers were fantastic, the facility is amazing-pool, ice rink, state of the art theatre....! Great trips to Washington DC etc....so many avenues to explore at Hommocks that prepare you for the next big step at the High School. Highly Recommend.
