I thank Mr Miele for sitting with me 5 years ago and asking me to give Ward Elementary a chance. It was a life changing experience for my child and I truly owe it to the staff at the school. She developed academically, socially, and emotionally...I could not ask for more...and she would not have thrived as much without the nurturing and support she received in that school.

My 3 children have had an excellent experience at Ward a school. The teachers and staff are exceptional. My children have been happy and left Ward well prepared for middle school.

For the past 4 years things have been good. The worst experience so far is the teachers lack of commitment and compassion towards our 8 year old. Teachers should not just be assignment givers. Students should have a confidant in their teachers at this age. These teachers should be developing the right relationships with the students to get the best out of them. You can’t just turn off compassion at this level. They are not in middle school. Not having empathy around 3rd graders is not ok!

I am very impressed with Ward Elementary. We moved to this community for the elementary and middle schools, and my family could not be happier with the decision. Each teacher my son has had, from kindergarten to the fourth grade, thus far, has been amazing (Ms. Tartaka, Ms. Jones, Ms. Goodman and Ms. Bisaria)! The Principal and Assistant Principal are very responsive and respectful. It's obvious that Mr. Miele strongly supports his staff , and they seem to respect him as well. Although it's a big elementary school, it doesn't feel that way. It's a nurturing community where I think every student feels valued. I am going to miss Ward when my son graduates next year!

Great teachers, the principal is always there for you, the bilingual program rocks! Yes, it is a large school, but it really feels smaller the way each set of grades is in different parts of the school and because of how everyone in the staff gets to know you pretty fast.

Although Ward is a big school, as a parent and student you feel like part of a small, well connected community. From the principal, to the teachers, to the staff, everyone makes you feel welcomed and important. The teachers are excellent and the school is a microcosm of our diverse population and cultures. I'm proud to be a Ward parent.

Ward is the largest of all the elementary schools in Westchester. There is just about 1000 students and even so everything runs smoothly. Parking is not the easiest but often timing is everything. The principle Mr. Miele is in his 4th year and seems to be running a tight ship. He is clearly visible every morning and afternoon when the children arrive and leave making it obvious that he is easily approachable for both the students and parents. The parents seem actively involved and constantly helping to improve the school in one way or another. I can honestly say that I have been very happy with the quality of teachers and their abilities to deal with not only the new Core but with the new security measures and risk that now comes with being in a school (words I never thought I would have to say). The school has a new security system and they have been practicing all the drills and it is clear that the safety of our children is of the up most concern.

We transferred our two daughters from private school because of the well-known superb teachers and differentiated curriculum. We have never regretted this decision. To our delight, we were met by a very active and engaged Administrative staff and a warm and welcoming community of parents.

This school is top rate. With a community school feel and a top rated education that is strenuous and challenging. The teachers are top notch.

Beautiful grounds, very diverse, active pta. Many after school activities, even though it is large the staff seems to know the children by name.

I have researched all of the elementary schools in New Rochelle and found that Ward has the most to offer so we moved in that area. They have programs for all types of students, a phenomenal reading department and a dual language program that if your child doesn't get into, they will still be learning a foreign language in the FLES program. AMAZING SCHOOL!

I am so proud to be a Ward parent. Our kids are getting a wonderful education - from the specialized reading help for my daughter to the Spanish immersion and Kaleidoscope programs that challenge my son - Ward offers so much! My children are nurtured by their teachers and inspired by their principal, who offers a wonderful vision for being the best elementary school in New York!

I have 3 children and 2 of them have graduated from Ward and my youngest still attends. I have had an incredible experience. The teachers are hard working and really love their jobs. Some of my childrens teachers who I now call my friends, were supportive and professional and did an amazing job preparing my children for their future education. The prinicipal of Ward, Mr. Miele really does an outstanding job. He knows all the children by name and commits himself to making sure the kids have a pleasant and safe environment. He really makes a difference and is a great asset to Ward School.

I am amazed with the special needs programs that Ward offers to children with special needs. They have a pleasant staff and my child has accomplished more in a month then in a year at a different school. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to have my child in this school.

My two children are really thriving at Ward. The school has a wonderful dual language program, and several after school enrichment programs. The principal is always available to meet the parents and makes a concerned effort to get to know all the children at Ward. Looking forward to a wonderful year.

William B Ward Elementary School is a great school. My two daughters are in 4th and 2nd grades, respectively. All the teachers they have had have been fantastic. My daughter cannot praise their teachers enough with the younger saying that "[she] loves [her] teacher because she is an angel!" Our family finds Ward school to be very warm and inviting to the students as well as the parents. This wonderful atmosphere is fostered by our very involved, warm, caring, receptive and responsive principal and teachers who take time to know the students and their parents. The principal and the teachers are always present at the evening school sponsored events talking to parents and students. Whenever we had any issue concerning either one of our daughters, we were able to directly communicate with the principal and the teachers to help find a solution to resolve the problem in an expeditious manner. As a result, my daughters love going to school and we help out at the school whenever we can. It is worth repeating, William B Ward Elementary School is a great school.

As a mother of a student who has special needs, I was particularly concerned when it was decided he was doing well enough to be enrolled in our local school. However, from the moment I walked into Ward School, my fears were eased. That first year, the principal and kindergarten teacher brought him into the classroom for a tour before school started so he would become familiar with his new school. Over the past two years, my son has continued to develop skills and confidence, all while receiving a fine education. I credit all of the wonderful teachers, therapists, and social workers who have given their time and best efforts to provide my son with what he needs to be successful in school and in his life. I thank them for being available to speak with me when issues arose and for including my ideas in bringing those problems to successful resolutions. My younger son is now in Ward School as well, and I could not be happier.
