We couldn't be happier with our experience at RNMS. It's the perfect blend of academic rigor and personalized attention, thanks to its small class sizes. We've seen tremendous growth, both academically and socially, in our children during their time in Rye Neck.

Fantastic middle school experience for my family - lots of investments in the arts and a surprisingly diverse class.

Wonderful small school. The teachers and administrators really get to know your child. There are ample enrichment and support opportunities.

Both of our kids attended Rye Neck Middle School and we were extremely happy. The District is small, and this is a tremendous and very unique advantage, it works as a private school, the principal knows the names of everyone, there is an active participation of the parents and the community, the sports options are great and the overall environment is very healthy and SAFE. We loved the school, we are very proud and our kids have been VERY successful, one still in high school and the other one already in a top IVY League.

Both of my kids graduated from Rye Neck and have excelled in college. My son graduated from Babson College and in now an Investment Banking analyst for Rothchild and supporting himself in Manhattan at 22. My daughter is in Industrial Design at RIT and has and Industrial Design internship at Lifetime Brands this summer. Rye Neck's independent learning courses which started in Middle School allowed them to discover and develop their career focus. Private schools were an option ... but my family preferred Rye Neck.

I find it difficult to believe the review below is genuine. The school is very small for a public school and is personal - bullying is caught and dealt with quickly. And btw, clicks, which you'll find in every school, are not the same as "gangs" which only exist in some schools, and certainly not in Rye Neck. As for NYC public schools - the Rye Neck HS would come in 10th out of 360 NYC High Schools schools if you compared it by combined SAT scores - and those other top 10 NYC schools need very good scores to get in (and forget about the sporting facilities). As for the middle school in NYC - why not google "NYC middle schools need improvement" - the Columbia study as reported by CBS for a start. The middle schools in NYC are the worst part of the system there. I say that having lived and had children in the system.

My son in the 6th grade was bullied horribly, to the very extreme. Worse, the teachers (yes, the teachers and the principles) have tried to cover up the truth. They took no responsibility, what so ever, and I am mystified what the councelor's job truly is. We just gave up and moved on, but I cannot sass enough the emotional scars. This school is very disappointing, I strongly suggest you look over this school as being close to your choice, even if there are benefits such as being able to get in without any test scores. But do not overlook the fact that this policy makes this school a much less safe environment, and really bad kids can get mixed in with the truly advanced. I agree with the parent a few comments before me. Other than the offenders in my son's case of severe bullying, I observe many "gangs," students using cuss words and talking about inappropriate topics, all behind the backs of ignorant teachers. My point is, try harder and look to other schools. Also, for your reference, there are many great public schools in Manhattan, in case you read this and is confused. Other place to look are trusted sites, there are plenty of them and can be found easily through Google.

I disagree with the previous parent. I do think the teachers and administrators are open to new ideas. It is a small school with the ability to know your child and to try and help them have a positive experience.
