LCA provides an enriching experience for the scholar. Faculty is supportive and invested in your child’s experience. My son has been a student since third grade and I couldn’t be more pleased.

My three daughters has been here for 2 years. They are doing very well. They has become very disciplined in their study habits since they has been at Lansing Charter Academy. I love the moral teachings. The academic teaching is strong as well. The leadership is very structured and strong. The teachers really care about the children. Thanks

This is a great school full of fabulous, dedicated teachers, wonderful children, and committed parents.

The kids and parents that are currently attending the school are rude, disrespectful, and the teachers are unable to correct the students. The language the children use is out of control. I feel bad for the school staff.

My daughter and son have attended two years at the school, and why it seem at first to be a good school starting off. Slowly I started to see how terrible this school really is. The children in middle and high school curse, and talk about their experience of being sexually active in the presents of the smaller children walking through the halls. The principal (Mr. Ward) does nothing about bullying and labeling a child. He makes threats against children with disabilities if their behavior does not improve he will expel them. I could go on and on but be advised do not take a chance on your child's future here.

My child went here for 4 years. Office Staff are amazing, some teachers work hard and care. Curriculum is challenging, includes a moral focus and school is nice and clean. School has social worker but services are not available if your child is gifted AND has ADHD, or if you are not identified as "at risk." Communication and cooperation on 504 and IEP evaluation requests leaves a lot to be desired. Generally a good school if your child does not have ADHD.

I was a student at LCA but I graduated this year. I started going to LCA when I was in fourth grade, I always loved the school, but then we got a new principal (Mr. Ward). Mr. Ward did a great job in getting out scores up. Why I am giving LCA a 2 star rating is because their were 3 fights this year and the years before then their had be none. Mr. Ward failed to know most of the students names. This is why I believe LCA deserves a 2 star rating.

My children have attended LCA since it opened. I can guarantee it has not been all roses. When a problem does arise they do try their best to deal with it. Mr. Ward, the new principal for the 13-14 school year, really has turned the school around. The teachers have always been awesome and so are the deans. The office staff are wonderful. They treat all the children as they are family. A few volunteers try to do as much as they can to help the staff and run school events. I think the lack of parent involvement is not any worst than anywhere else. Everyone is so busy. If you are looking for a school in the greater Lansing area I would differentially check out LCA.

I really like the school and love the fact that things are always changing to make improvements. This has been kinda hectic because of after school pick up but the staff always shows up with a smile on there face and a positive attitude. Just wanted to say thank you for all that LCA does for children!

I love this school for my child he was bullied at his old school for years now that he is at LCA he has friends, great grades, and the staff is very friendly. I recommend this school to any one who wants their kids to get a good education in a good environment you should check it out.

We have been with LCA for two years and have been very happy with the education out child is receiving. Administration has been responsive and teachers have been invested and helpful. Concerns have not been ignored and the team atmosphere we have been able to create has truly helped our child. He is not just a number at LCA, he had a name!

I'm really surprised that this school has a rating of 3/10. I moved my kids from Red Cedar which has a much higher rating undeservedly. LCA has great teachers and staff.. They work hard and interact with the parents. I'm very comfortable having my both kids in this school.

The teachers I have worked with are great, the only issues I have is I feel there are too many students in each class for 1 teacher. And there is not enough parent support or volunteers to help with events. Everything else so far I love about the school. My child excels in all areas and they continue to push to make him better.

I think LCA is a great school! They work hard to put the students first (which most public schools are unable to do due to 'politics"). My granddaughter seems to thrive and is learning a lot. I like the friendliness of the teachers and staff and the fact that they get to know the students by name. I wish there was a little more security when picking up students (especially after school). I have picked my granddaughter up from school several times and never been asked for ID (not even the first time I stopped to get her). Overall they are doing a great job and the kids seems to thrive!

Lansing Charter Academy focuses on the development of moral character, and integrity is woven into the curriculum at every level. My children are challenged to go above and beyond and consistently score higher than their grade level. It is a safe and family-like environment for my children.

Lansing Charter Academy sent out letters to parents yesterday admitting to not complying with federal guidelines by having a non-certified, "non-highly qualified" teacher teaching Science to middle school students. Parents were concerned with teachers experience, way of teaching and grading practices and the letter received explains why. No wonder our schools are failing!

I love this school. Every time I walk in, I feel welcome and there is an energy here that you have to experience! Right when you walk into the office, you feel like the staff cares about you and your family. The staff and students interact in a wonderfully encouraging way that is very conducive to learning. The principal handles issues in a way that is fair and safe, keping expectations high for the whole school. They may actually be too high for some parents. But, that is okay because it isn't for everybody. If you like high academics (students grow about a year and a half each year + compared to less than a year at the other area schools) and high expectations so that your child can achieve more in a calm, family style environment, you would probably be as happy here as I am! My bar is set high. And I am never disappointed ;)

Barely better than the public schools here in the district. I came in as a hopeful parent the first year this school was open. It started great but has steadily declined since then. What once was a vibrant community and school has devolved substantially under the direction of an unresponsive and dictatorial administration. As soon as the first principal left things began to slide. If you're wondering how they rate simply ask about their teacher turnover rate. While there is a higher than average to be expected due to the fact that this is a charter school and thus wages aren't as high, they lost no less than half of their workforce in the last year alone. Kind of scary when the teachers themselves are leaving in droves.

I love this school my son has been going to Lansing Charter Academy since they opened his reading, math and spelling skills has went up so high he is more out going and not as shy as he use to be. The staff is very friendly they make you feel like one big family. They care about the children and they show it. I just wish they do something about that parking lot the pick up is crazy.
