Reo Elementary is a great school. Many miss the school due to it's location off of MLK. But it is definitely a hidden jewel. The teachers are innovative and seem to truly love teaching young learners. My son attended Reo and received a good foundation of skills. Classroom management skills were satisfactory as well as opportunities for parental involvement. The principal is no nonsense, but it seems to come straight from the heart. My only complaint is that my child performed at a higher level than many of his classmates and therefore, needed a differentiated learning curriculum. For whatever reason, the teacher believed that the class should function as a whole group. For example, when he would master a lesson and perform the task, he would often became bored or disinterested waiting for others to finish. Unoccupied, he would get 'off task'. As a result, he was labeled as 'naughty'. All he really needed was to move on to the next lesson independently or be challenged even further in the lesson. I was disappointed at times when the teacher did not see it that way. Otherwise...Reo Elementary remains a jewel.

This school has it together. The students walk in the halls quietly with arms folded. There is a dress code. The principal is constantly running around monitoring classrooms. This school is the opposite of Wainwright Elementary where the kids run and scream and don't learn anything. Even a parent that shows up with the saggy pants thing going on is told "Leave now, you are setting a bad example." One of the best elementary schools in ghetto Lansing.
