My kid has an IEP, I would constantly have to advocate and remind teachers of my kids needs and accommodation. In the end the teachers were legally obligated to comply however kids with IEPs should not have to advocate so adamantly. The whole point of having an IEP to make things less difficult for those that have learning disabilities. When there is resistance to accommodations the learning environment feels hostile. For someone already struggling it makes the mountain feel even taller. Another issue was that my kids witnessed countless instances of racism, religious discrimination and homophobia. From constant use of derogatory terms in everyday language amongst classmates to groups of kids verbally and physical singling out and bully individuals. I am grateful we moved out of Lakeside and no longer have to endure. It felt like a continuous struggle. To elaborate on my grading - To Agree=5pts to Disagree=1pt, so total possible points is 30pointsLearning - I am sure it is very hard to get kids at the middle school age to be excited to do anything educational so I somewhat agree this school dose try to provide engaging educational material however lack of support makes it fall, so this was 3 pointsSpecial Education - All schools by law must comply with the disability requirements however teaches at TDS don't automatically accommodate they wait for you to advocate a& demand your rights so this was 1 pointTeaching - This was hard to grade because some teachers were great, some were okay and some were difficult. My kids each had 7 teachers and out of the 14+ I would say 2 were memorable to be great 8 were memorable to be difficult so that's 6 ok of 8 but then you have to factory the office workers and principal so I gave 2 pointsSafety - My kids did not feel safe and comfortable at all they had few friends who also felt the same so I gave 1 pointSocial-emotional support - when things were brought to attention of the teaches and staff they went through the motions to deal with it but issues would continue & at times escalate. My kids would tell me how teachers would complain about their work and describe their experience with other students its unprofessional so I gave 2ptFamily Engagement - Jupiter grades works however most of the time the grades were not updated until weeks later, this delay doesn't help the student juggle where their focus should be. This skill is necessary for High school. So I gave 2 ptsFinal Grade (D) 11/30pts 36%

The Staff cares about the students succeeding in Middle School and beyond. The Vice Principal takes time out to walk the campus meeting and communicating with the students on a regular basis.

The administration and teachers are very dedicated to the students. Now they have an excellent Immersion program as well. TdS is a great place to be!

I think TDS is wonderful. My son has great teachers who have a passion to teach and care about their students. He has been there 2 years so far and loves it! The only negative thing I can think of is the parking .Some parents /pick up persons for children don't read designated areas and park where they shouldn't creating a huge problem that doesn't seem to get addressed. SIGNS posted say do not park 7-2 I believe and about 7 vehicles park there causing issues for buses and drivers. As far as bullying goes haven't experienced it @ this school and hope not to~

TDS is a wonderful school. The teachers in the Special Ed program are fantastic and very dedicated to each student. My daughter is thriving at TDS. The music program under Ms. Vildebill is amazing as well.

My child went to this school for about two months before we had to remove her from the school due to outrageous bullying. We brought it to the principal's after the first incident of her publicly being threatened and nothing was done to help her. I do not recommend this middle school.
