As a former teacher at this school, I can affirm there is a serious need for more discipline and there was, during my time, no support for new teachers. The leadership technique was a variation of bullying with new teachers expected to cobble together information as best they could. It was a negative atmosphere with little to no support.

My daughter goes to this school and earlier this year, she wanted to be homeschooled because she said the kids there are very badly behaved. I was told this by her friends as well. They curse, fight, threaten other kids, and act inappropriately with each other as in kissing, touching. I know kids can't be supervised every minute of the day, but I have been told that the teachers and office personnel are aware of the kids' behaviors but choose not to do anything about it. They basically turn a blind eye to the way they act. There is little to no supervision in the hallways during class changes and as a result my daughter has been pushed into lockers and pushed down in the hallway. She has been physically threatened, called names, and bullied at school and on the bus by the kids that go to LaFayette Middle. I tried to get in touch with Dana Chapman in charge of "girls discipline" but I guess my daughter's situation with the kids who were bullying her wasn't a priority because she wouldn't call me back until the third day after one of the incidents. When she did call me back, she acted like she didn't know who I was, who my daughter was, or what had happened! I also understand that it is mostly the parents job to teach kids respect, kindness to others, to behave well, etc. But allowing these behaviors at school without being punished only rewards those behaviors and doesn't teach these kids to behave appropriately and to be considerate to others. There seems to be little to no order and discipline at this school which makes it incredibly hard for kids like my daughter to attend school due to these kids' bad behavior and the schools and parents allowing it.
