My daughter was in transitional Kindergarden at La Pluma Elementary. There was a lack of racial diversity there but the worst part is, my daughter was expelled after four days, because her teacher didn't have any patience and definitely gave off bad vibes from day one. This despite my daughter testing very well.It was my daughters first time attending school and myself and my wife didn't get any updates on my child's behavior until the day she was expelled for being "too excited". I don't like to play the race card but my daughter is Black and I heard other Black parents speak about how their kids were also mistreated at La Pluma. She was the only Black Student in her class.I placed my daughter in another school nearby and her performance and behavior has been GREAT. It's been over a month without any issues and she's learning everyday. La Pluma Elementary should hire teachers that have more patience and also work on their diversity because that was a horrible experience.

We had an amazing experience when my oldest attended La Pluma for K-5th. Now my youngest is attending. I foresee only good things with the new Principal. The faculty and staff are putting forth a great effort to continue to improve the academic offerings for all grade levels.

This school is such a hidden gem in our community! The principal, staff and teachers are all amazing! I would highly recommend this school! We are transfers from another district because of how wonderful we heard La Pluma is! So glad we chose to put our kids at this school! The front office staff is so nice and welcoming! The teachers always go above and beyond when it comes to the students! Thank you Mrs Bixby and your staff for such a wonderful elementary school experience!

It’s a great school where the teachers are all a part of the community feel. The PTA puts on fantastic events, both educational and fun for the students. Both my kids had a great experience here. Getting involved is a must do, if you really want to get the entire feel of the place.

La Pluma is a great school. The teachers are attentive and really enjoy teaching. The school spirit thrives with various activities, organizations, and fundraisers. Parents and staff really work together.

Horrible. Some of the students exhibit racist behavior. My son heard the Nhword from a student here on his first day here, and he's 10.

I love La Pluma and encourage everyone who has a child starting school in the area to check it out! The principal Mrs. Pace is great and is very interested in the children's well-being. She gets to know the students and their families. The teachers and staff are great as well. There are a lot of opportunities for parents to get involved in their child's education, if they want to. They have music, art and computer classes for each classroom weekly or twice a month, which is great!

With 3 kids going through this school from age of 11, 8 & 5, I have seen the greater effort of teachers and principle trying to bring the test scores and learning curve up. They even creatively perform a play to entertain the kids how to handle incoming CST test. It is great to see other parents get involved their kids education instead just send their kids expect the teachers to do everything. La Pluma test score does average out with some kids with disadvantage, and I except their test score continue to improve.

La Pluma has excellent teachers, a caring principal and challenging academic programs. They also have a first grade teacher on staff who is one of LA County's Teacher's of the Year. Not every school can say that!

standards are low compared to other elementary schools... the teachers dont work as hard as they used to since the arts program came out....
