Great Schools has completely lost it. Spring Ave has been ranked one of the top elementary schools in the area by local publications multiple times in the past couple of years. Great Schools is choosing to push social agendas these days instead of giving readers a true sense of the school. Great teachers and very involved families at Spring Ave.

Great close-knit neighborhood "walking school" community. Excellent teachers who strive to meet the needs of each individual child. High academic standards without a culture of competition. Very focused on social emotional well-being with 360 supports for students who need it. Could use more innovative approaches to the curriculum including STEM, hands-on and project-based learning. Also lacks diversity, but for the formative years of my children's education, it is a solid school.

The teachers are amazing and really care about students. It is a small enough district that they are able to be responsive to individual needs of students.

Spring has been open and responsive to discussing concerns, and consistently looks to best practices in improving the educational, social and emotional development of its students. The school has considered all stake holders in as much as possible (students and families have a voice in many issues). Having been part of a few school staffs myself, Spring definitely stands out and ultimately was a huge part of the reason we moved to this community.

This is the best elementary school in Northern Illinois! They have the most talented teachers who are truly dedicated to their jobs, and they treat the students as if they were their own children. They have the best principal I have ever met, Mrs. Webb, who is very involved in every child's learning experience, knows all the parents and kids by name, and who will go out of her way to help you with anything related to your family or child! From the principal to the custodial staff, every one at Spring Avenue is top notch, especially Mrs. Jones who runs the office! My first set of twins just graduated 6th grade in 2014, and my second set of twins have now entered 1st grade. I wouldn't move them from this school for any reason ... if you want the best for your children, look no further than Spring Avenue School!

We moved to this neighborhood specifically so our son could attend Spring Ave when he was going into 2nd grade. He is now in 6th, his last year at Spring and we could not be happier with the experience. Class sizes are small and the school provides good grounding in all the basic subjects as well as an excellent gifted and advanced program for both math and english. Classes attend art, gym, computer labs and music and there is a very active parent community. Spring is a 'walking school' so all the kids walk to school and although it might not look as fancy or technologically advanced as some schools, the emphasis here is on teaching both the subjects and good lifetime study habits and skills. The principal Mrs. Webb is excellent- very accessible and a good administrator whom the kids seem to genuinely like and respect. I would recommend Spring Ave to any family.
