If your child is in love with football like mine and is an underclassmen you will be disappointed. Some of the kids who bother to try out for the jv football team just quit. JV is treated as an after thought with no head coach or seperate coaching staff from varsity like other schools do <currituck, northeastern, edenton...> schedule is incomplete and light yet jv soccer has 10 plus games. Then even more kids get frustrated and quit after they sre the schools lack of commitment to football and just go to track or something else. This year I think jv has 1 home game, if it is not a forfeit.

Bad drug problem in this area. Heroin use is an epidemic, gangs are a growing problem. The kids say that they are bored and tend to get into trouble. If you somehow make it through high school years without being hooked on something your best bet is to go away to college. This is an island/tourist town with similar drug issues that you saw on the news recently about Cape Cod.

Two of my children have graduated from FFHS. Overall I would say it is a great school as it is small and the staff gets a real chance to know the students. Most of the teachers are great, but a few seemed to have moved here to live a different life and teaching is just an income.
