The only reason this school is getting more than one star is because I had 3 teachers who actually cared. However, the principals, assistant principals, etc did not care about most of the students. It was always the students with the popular rich last names who got the upper-hand. I was called a bully multiple times for defending myself. I have gotten in trouble multiple times for defending myself. I did not defend myself by verbally threatening, abusing, assaulting, etc. I just stood my ground and told them to stop messing with me.From the start of each year, nothing was set in place on how the school year would run. It was always talked about, but never enforced. By the first 9-weeks, most teachers were already burnt out because of the way some of these students acted all day, everyday. It's time that Currituck starts expelling these kids instead of just suspending them for a couple of days or throwing them in CCLC for a few weeks or whatever. There are so many bullies who will never learn their lesson, there's no communication with parents, there's no communication with students. Just saying "We'll talk to him/her OR them," is not going to stop the constant bullying they know they can get away with because of who their parents are and things like that. I'm so glad I left this school. I would never allow my children to attend a school like this and I hope the parents who are reading this and considering this school change their minds as well.

All through my childen's school years, they were pushed through whether they were ready or not. Having I.E.P.'s, they didn't even have to pass any testing or retain what they had learned, that is until 9th grade. First day of high school, they get thrown in with the students who have achieved academic profiency, and expect them to know what to do. They scoff when children. Ask for extra help or when they say they don't understand. They won't hold they other children up, wasting their the trying to get someone 3 grade levels behind caught up. Then they tell them "oh if you don't pass you have to keep retaking before you are able to graduate." And the kids get so overwhelmed and start beating themselves up. It has been a terrible terrible mistake to have let them attend this long. I've had to take all 3 out and begin to honeschool just to protect them. Not to mention the bullying and bias administration shows. Very unethical values.

This is the worst school I have ever been to. They do nothing about the bullying. Even the bullies hate being at school. If you are a parent and are considering this school, listen to all the reviews like mine and don’t send your kid here. I could write paragraphs about how bad my experience has been here. I’m a junior and I’m looking into alternative school here because of how bad things have gotten. The staff does not care about the students and they are lazy. Kids in special ed are always made fun of and nothing is done about it. This school is disgusting and I can’t wait to leave

The majority of the teachers that I dealt with as a parent were not sticking to the curriculum that was set forth at the beginning of the year. At one point, both of my children came home and told me that for the past two weeks they had both done nothing but watch movies in class. Me thinking it was at least related to the subject asked more questions only to find out they had no educational value whatsoever. After speaking to the vice principal, principal, and even the superintendent, I was told the teacher would be observed by the principal to ensure proper curriculum was maintained. It will be if the boss is watching generally. I’m so glad my kids no longer attend this school.

It was honestly terrible. Most teachers didn’t bother to make disruptive students be quiet so those of us who cared about learning could learn. I hated it so much I graduated a semester early just to get out of there.

Being a military family and seeing several high schools first hand this is the absolute worst. Overcrowded, kids are disrespectful and bullying is terrible.

My children have excelled at this school, more than I could have ever imagined. To the people complaining about CCHS, please take the time to actually reach out to your teachers, your administrators, talk about the issues you might be having, come up with a resolution. Turning to facebook to bash the school accomplishes zero.

this school doesn't even deserve a star. not even one. this school is suppose to be bully free. ha thats not true. there is bullying every minute of every hour in that school and absolutely nothing is done about it. i should know. i use to go there now i don't bc when you ask for help the teachers don't help you at all. my own guidance councilor told me to my face i'm not made for school and that there is no way i would get to 12th grade or graduate at all.

I have hesitated for several months to write a review, hoping that things would improve, but unfortunately that is not the case. From the day of Open House, things have not been flowing smoothly. I do not understand how a course can continue without a Teacher who is certified in the subject at hand. I do understand that sometimes these things are out of their control, however, they did not have a Teacher lined up from the beginning and had no business going forward with this class. What kind of message do you think the students are getting out of this? They are learning that the Teacher's role is unimportant, or even intrusive. I agree with the poster who complained about the extensive wait, and minimal to no time to eat lunch. It's a parent's prerogative whether they bring home lunch or pay at school. If you choose to buy school lunch, the least thing they can do, is provide a reasonable amount of time to eat it. I have two students at CCHS, and they are very different from one another, but both agree that this is a problem. Let's face it, some of these kids are on the bus 1-1.5 hrs. each way, that makes for a very long day. These are just a couple of many concerns.

This school needs a lot of improvement ! There is a lack of student parent communication. Like I always say once your child enters through those doors, everything is top secret. Now there are a few teachers there that are really great but that is about 10% My child was struggling with a class and I didn't know until a week before graduation. If my child didn't pass the final exam it was no diploma for her. We tried to get her help in the class but no one was interested....
