This school is beyond review. My children are super happy there. They have an amazing playground, basketball court, and field to enjoy at recess, and the lunch is delicious! They have a large gym, Library, Art classroom, and music classroom. Great place, And great rewards for the kids such as Kona ice, chalk art, Movies, and Firebird buck, (Fake school money) Prizes. This school is unbelievably amazing.

The experience my child had at this school has tarnished her view towards trusting adults particularly those in charge such as Ms. Beiter, principal. When she was bullied and my daughter finally gained the nerve to report it to Ms. Beiter it was dismissed as "kids being kids." Now, my daughter, who once loved school, cries every morning before she has to go and begs me to please not make her go, because she fears the bullying. Ms. Beiter has been made aware of this on multiple occasions and dismisses it every time. Most alarming is when I discovered my child's diary, and being a parent curious as to how her daughter is dealing with everything, read it. I was left breathless and heartbroken to read my daughter, who is only 10 years old, had written multiple times that suicide is something she has contemplated due to the repeated bullying, and lack of response from the principal in dealing with the matter. To read my child no longer trusts adults in protecting her from those who bully and threaten her and believes suicide to be a solution since her concerns were dismissed multiple times by Ms. Beiter was devastating to read. This school needs a better principal, one who will actually do their job in not only furthering the education of students, but also listen to and protect those who bring concerns of bullying to their attention. How are we to establish trust and faith in our children when their every attempt at reaching out for help is dismissed? Children are our future. Are we to foster an attitude of ignorance and dismissiveness every time they reach out for help? What kind of future does this leave for our children?

Dissatisfied. I’m hoping that a little bit more time, and demanding professionalism, It will cause a correction, and will result in appropriate growth.

My son is being bullied by one of the teachers son. We have been in the principal's office about the issue. The principal condescendingly said she would tell the teacher. Of course nothing ever came of it. Now the other kid has used racial slurs against my child and I will be in the principal's office again about the same problem even though I know nothing will come of it. So I guess I will just have to contact the superintendent as well. The school needs a principal and teachers that care about their students.

There seems to be a serious lack of communication between teachers and parents at this school. If you elevate your concerns to the principal, she backs her teachers 100%. This is not always a bad thing, but she does so with a condescending tone. Unfortunately, there is a such thing as being in a job too long. You can become burned out and not be motivated to do your best work. This seems to be a common theme at this school. This is our second school year, and maybe our last, at Indian Riffle. Thankfully, Kettering allows you to attend any school in their district.

My 5 year old son loved going to preschool here this last school year ('14- '15) His teacher and the office staff were always friendly and helpful. His teacher was Mrs. P. We cannot say enough good things about her! I've never seen a teacher care so much for each student, helping them feel comfortable in her care and to succeed. She goes out of her way to involve parents, keep you informed of their progress and classroom activities, etc. We couldn't have asked for a better first teacher for our son. He liked the literacy lunch they did, which allows the students to dress up as their favorite book character and encourages reading with your child. The preschool playground is right at the front of the school. It's fenced in for safety, but still allows you to watch your child play at the end of their day, if you like. A classroom newsletter was sent home weekly that informed you of what the students learned that week, along with upcoming important events and dates. A binder is kept of each child's progress throughout the year. Their artwork is sent home in their backpack. My son also really looked forward to it being his turn to be the special helper, who gets to talk about that day's weather, day of the week, and letter of the day. Overall, I would recommend this school to others and would highly recommend Mrs. P. for a preschool teacher.

My daughter is a little chatty. I had warned her teacher Mrs. O'Brien at IRE that sitting her next to the girl she did was a bad idea. She got in trouble for talking and now has to sit behind the teacher's desk facing the wall indefinitely. They have better treatment in prison. This teacher has no patience and should not be there teaching. The principal has her back 100% though (Mrs. Debbie Beiter). There are definitely better schools in the Kettering area. When living in Kettering you can send your child to any school in their district.
