Best choice we made for our son! What a breath of fresh air for a kid that was struggling in the big public schools. These are some of the finest administrators and teachers that care for your child and work hard to make sure the experience they have is inspiring and supportive. Just because they have a great supportive structure that is centered around core values, does not mean they don’t adhere to high academic expectations and standards. Our son was struggling to fit in, and it was affecting not only his self-esteem but his grades as well. Now he has really found a home socially and wants to attend school; furthermore, he is striving academically! We love the structure that is designed to aid with organizational skills, teamwork, and personal accountability. I kid you not, our son is more structured and organized at home now too! Thank you so much Mirus!!

I am incredibly grateful for Mirus Academy, and for the wonderful memories I have made in this school. It is truly more than just a school, it’s a beautiful community that accepts and supports the students to find their originality. The teachers strive for their student’ s learning and encourage them to have a mind of their own. The classes are very well structured, and offer many options for electives which I love.

Our overall experience at Mirus Academy has been extremely positive. The school is well run by wonderful and caring administrators. The small classroom sizes and very competent and compassionate teachers, meet the students’ individual needs and set them up for success. Highly recommend!

Absolutely LOVE this school-Mirus Academy is amazing.Mirus Academy is a one of a kind of school specializing in small classrooms- high teacher to student ratio- which ensures individual attention from the teachers and one-on-one learning. We came to this school after a failed 1st semester in one of the top-ranked junior highs in the Houston area; the classrooms were just too large and too many students in the school. Our daughter became withdrawn, quiet, and depressed. Mirus has had a profound change in our daughter after attending one month. She is now outgoing, confident, creative, compassionate, and just back to her quirky self. Students feel important and a place where they can express themselves. Mirus gives its students a safe environment to grow and think outside the box and just to be themselves. 100% this school is worth the investment into our daughter's future. We now have been at the school entering our third year and absolutely LOVE it. I only wish we had started earlier then 6th grade

When we moved to Houston, our children started in the highly acclaimed Katy ISD. Unfortunately, our children were two years ahead of the public curriculum. We investigated private schools throughout the Houston area. Mirus was the only school that offered to place our children based on ability rather than age. The classes are small. The teachers WANT to be there and WANT to teach. The administration holds the students to a high standard. They will tailor their teaching, help, and expectations to the student. They are willing to experiment with new ideas. What the school may lack in infrastructure, it makes up for in caring and flexibility. Without Mirus our older child would not have been able to accept a prestigious scholarship to allow her to study overseas for a year and our younger child would not be able to pursue academics two years above her chronological age. This type of education is unique in the Houston area.

I have taught at private schools for over 11 years, including Second Baptist School and Kinkaid. Mirus has been the best place I have worked for three reasons. First, the environment for the students is very positive and nurturing. Second, the academics are rigorous and help prepare students for college courses. Students are held to a high standard, and the nurturing environment and caring staff help them achieve academic success without the excessive stress common in high pressure school environments. Third, the school teaches students at their level, instead of making students fit into expected "grade-level" courses. Because of this, we have several students who are able to take above grade-level academic courses.

Our daughter has been a student at Mirus Academy for 5 years. She will graduate with them next year. Mirus was an answer to our prayers. It took one day at Mirus to transform our daughter! We had not seen her smile about school in over a year. After making the change, she looked forward to school days and dreaded holidays!! It is so hard to put into words what Mirus Academy means to our family. Mirus provides her with a challenging but exciting academic environment and a nurturing, safe social environment. We will always be thankful we walked into that little, old house looking for curriculum and a better way!! They are not in that little, old house anymore, and they have grown quiet a bit. It would have been so easy for them to get off track and follow a road so similar to other growing school. Yes, some things at Mirus have changed over the years. However, at heart, they are still the same little school we fell in love with so many years ago.

Mirus is a wonderful place! The classes are small and individualized, allowing each student to receive specialized attention. Everybody knows everybody, and it has a great family-like feel. All the people are accepting, and you can just be yourself! Placement is based on ability rather than age, allowing and encouraging you to excel. I can't imagine a better school!

So far, so good - second year in the school and I've been very satisfied, and my now high-schooler is thrilled! We're some distance away, and it's well worth the investment of time and money. Great job by the Administration/Teachers focusing on each student!

I could not imagine a better high school experience for my child. The kids are placed by ability not age. Classes are small. There is a flexibility in the school which is just perfect for the "real world" We came from a home school environment and the transition could not have gone better. There is just a great feel in the school which is shared by teachers, students and families. We feel very lucky to live close by. It is not uncommon for people drive from 50+ miles 2x's a day for this school! But please don't tell too many people so it stays as unique and incredible as it is. :)

Since I moved my daughter to this school her self confidence, grades, motivation, and attitude have improved. She loves it there. The teachers are caring and they encourage teamwork. They build the student's self confidence. I can tell how well the school is run when the students show respect and kindness to visitors. It is so hard to find that in the youth today. I like that the staff and adminstrator's show respect and kindness back to the students. I couldn't be more happy. The over all moral of the staff and students is above the grid. My only hope is for this school to grow and produce more outgoing students that will change the community for the better.

My child got to the point he did not want to go to school so we started looking for a private school. Now he loves going to school. This school has been wonderful. He loves his teachers and is getting a better education. Loves the experiments.

We love Mirus! My fourth grader gets has better grammar and writing skills than my seventh grader in public school. He gets to learn from regular science experiments. But, the best thing is that he loves going to school in the morning.

First I'd like to start with the good: the classes are small, the kids are a good group of kids in general, and the teachers and administration are accessible. However, I was very disappointed to find out that one of my children's teachers does not only not have a background in teaching, but she doesn't even have a bachelors degree. When I spoke to someone in administration about this, I was told that this individual was in fact a teaching assistant and had homeschooled her own children. However, I don't understand how she can be considered just a teaching assistant if she is the only teacher in the classroom instructing the children. I am paying for a private school education, and to discover that the school does not even require the teachers to have a bachelors degree is unacceptable. This has put me in a position to question the judgement of the administration and the future decisions that they might make. Maybe this is how they are able to keep their tuition lower than other private schools - by not hiring properly qualified teachers.

We moved our children to Mirus two years ago when we became frustrated with public school. We were tired of the ridiculous emphasis put on state-testing, the terrible behavior which teachers and other students have to contend with, and the lack of challenge for bright and gifted kids. Mirus meets our needs, and our kids love their school. I've been impressed with the different curricula; and we especially like the fact that kids are placed in classes based on their ability, rather than strictly by their grade-level. Many of the kids at Mirus are working above grade-level in at least one subject, so my kids are finally being appropriately challenged! We also love the flexible scheduling and the small classes. (The largest class we've experienced has about 15 kids; many have 10 or less.) Another bonus is the fact that students can go on two field trips per month. The school is quite small, and fairly traditional in its instruction, so it may not appeal to everyone; but it is definitely a school worth looking into!

One of the best schools I have ever been to! The teachers are terrific and really interact with all of the students. The students are so welcoming and everyone is friends with each other here. I have really learned alot and can not WAIT for another school year.
