Many of the schools teachers are clearly power hungry and I wonder if they had childhood problems. Students get in trouble for lobster shoes while teachers can go barefoot. Got ISS for not saying yes mam. Sad... I wish the school had a sensible principle that investigated when a student reported the teacher for bullying. They refused to investigate when I reported a teacher for bullying until 3 weeks after I had reported, throughout the school year I presented the school with multiple rules they were breaking in the student handbook in return they gifted me with ISS for "disrespect". Got kicked out of gifted because called a teacher out on breaking handbook rules. Sad school in general with sad clearly power hungry teachers and administrators. Also my mom busted a teacher for lying on ISS paperwork to justify giving ISS. Said opposite in parent meeting with assistant principal present. Funny assistant principal didn't even connect the dots that both could not be the truth!!

Admin. at mossy creek MS gives no reason to respect them! They dont follow rules they created in student handbook or rules developed by the school board. County MS regs. state written form MUST be sent home regarding why child is sent to In school suspension. Only recieved 1 time when i asked for it. Our son did nothing to justify taking him out of his gifted class but instead of principal dealing with teacher who was bullying our son, he removed our son. When numerous kids are playing on computer and our son gets reprimanded with signature and right after teacher warns (no punishment) "other kids that are on computer games to get off" That's bullying. For several weeks principal refused to investigate. (County requirement to investigate report of bullying) By time he did witnesses didn't recall...even though they told my son they too were on games! Teacher didn't like that my son challenged why she didn't follow student handbook rules and proper dress code rules- walking around classroom barefoot while students parents get calls to leave their jobs to bring their kids different shoes if they are fun shaped shoes. Principal and his boss said barefoot is not breaking dress code!!! All kids should follow rules equally or get punished equally. Was told by principal and his boss that this is fine teachers have liberty to discipline as they seem fit and only punish some or 1 if multiple kids doing same thing. This is our 3rd son through this school. All 3 said girls rarely get in trouble....major sexism issue! Only 1 time when my son was in in school suspension was there a girl. Everytime I ask administration about why other kids that did same, similar, or equivalent things as my kid did not get same consequence im told its none of my business! EQUAL treatment not a thing at this school. After son was removed from gifted class they justified by saying he would be in standard class with Alternative education plan....only 6 weeks of school left. He got 1 extra assignment without asking. He has to complain to principal about not getting anything above standard kids in class. Then principal tells teacher to give him extra. 4 times he complained enough to be given extra. Hes given worksheets to teach himself new material out of book, turns it in -sometimes its not even corrected by teacher! Teachers are NOT held accountable - kids get punishment for slerping water, using non assigned bathroom, Non assigned lunch table, or asking teacher why given punishment.

My daughter is going into 7th grade this year here. I love this school. She has a IEP and her meeting last year was the best IEP meeting we’ve ever had. They were awesome, they answered all my questions, didn’t make me dumb or uncomfortable. The tutoring they have after school really helped my daughter. The communication was great. Her teachers answered me back on class dojo on the same day and sent messages out everyday about homework. The receptionist and front office staff are always nice and helpful. My oldest daughter went to Warner Robins Middle and our experience there was totally different and not as good as here, we wish we moved earlier so she could have came here.

A handful of the teachers are good. Others pay no attention to their students. They most certainly do not take bullying seriously. The whole disciplinary process is ridiculous especially when it comes to bullying.

After having 2 children attend this school for 3 years each, we are moving out of the schools zoning so our younger two children do NOT attend this school. Maybe if they would be more concerned with putting education 1st rather than their sports teams, what the kids are wearing or how much money mommy and daddy make this school could be a little better, but it really needs a mass firing starting at the top, all the way down.

My son is entering his 7th grade year. Last year was a little rocky, but that was mainly due to him making the transition from elementary to middle school. The administration is very good and I love his teachers for keeping me/us informed of his progress. My son is by no means part of the "in crowd" but I am an active parent and they treat us with respect and dignity.

My daughters first year at Mossy and I am loving the transition. The principal is very communicative with us and my daughter loves the environment.

We just fnished three years at Mossy Creek. Coming from a private school environment we were very apprehensive. We were pleasantly surprised! Loved our experience. Great relationship with staff and teachers. It did require work on my part to get to know them and them to know me-to get involved. I served on pto for three years and it was a fabulous experience. I do have to laugh at the one review that stated the pro students were favorites. I personally know two pto children that were sent home for wearing leggings. Maybe we did receive some favoritism along the way but we worked our tails off for the good of the school and the students. I wouldn't hesitate to send my child to The Creek. I'm just sad our time is over. My student received a top notch education that has prepared her for the next phase of her life.

I have to say according the the negative reviews I am the only "socioeconomically disadvantaged" parent which has become a "favorite parent." The principal has never struck me as having favorites and has been most helpful several times in the past couple years when my child has had issues or needed assistance in school. My child's teacher has an open door policy and I have dropped in spoken to the teacher as well as enjoyed lunch with the class. My child have liked his teachers, although I have had to go behind closed doors with the principal due to inappropriate behavior. My child was excited to become a member of the FFA. The school staff from the med tech to the cafeteria staff have always been nice and helpful as well. As for being from the "economically deficient" neighborhood, I can guarantee that I am from that neighborhood and then some. I believe that much of the way the staff and teachers treat the parents has to do with how much the parents interact with the school and their attitude toward the teachers, staff and administrators.

I agree totally with the person that posted 2/3/15! The principal has his favorites, some of the teachers are more interested in socializing about latest events than teaching kids. And my child must have had the same "math" teacher in 6th grade because she did the same thing to my child. SHAME ON YOU--you know who you are! People should really look into what is going on around this school and the favoritism that is rampant! Thank goodness my child is done after this one. I couldn't handle another year there. Do not move to this part of town just to put child in this school--go right down the road to Feagin Mill or somewhere other than here.

My child has been in the school for the past 3 years and has hated it as have I.The principal has favorites and if you're not one of them, plan on getting in trouble for every little thing. It may be in a good area but if you're not from one of "those" neighborhoods, forget being anything but outsider. In 6th grade, one teacher (her Math Teacher) was so horrible acted more like a kid.She berated my child to other teachers in front of other students. She even had the nerve to tell me when we went for our 6th grade parents luncheon--it's a good thing your child is pretty--Implying that she wasn't the smartest kid in the class. This was brought to their attention which they denied taking place.Even when my child was asked to change for dress code violation because she was wearing jeggings and a tunic that came half down her thigh but the very next day one of her friends was wearing leggings and a shirt that barely covered her behind, because she was a "cheerleader" and mom was a PTO, nothing was ever said about that.To which they said if we don't see it we can't address it.I'm glad this is my childs last year in the school.SO PARENTS BEWARE--IF YOU ARE NOT WEALTHY OR PTO, GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I'm an 8th grader at MCMS and have loved it! You'll love this school so much! Teacher are very nice as well. What I like best about this school is the way the teachers teach... They're amazing!

As a parent, I have been very happy with the curriculum at Mossy Creek Middle School in Kathleen. My child is happy and the transition from their West Coast school to here was seamless. I do think more homework could be given out over the weekend, which seems to bean unpopular idea with the teachers. This year my child chose to be part of FFA's year round program, so we are very excited about raising a pig in their state-of-the-art brand new barn located on campus.

I agree with this parent about the school playing favorites! There is a lot of drama among the female population at the school that is overlooked and allowed to continue just because of the socioeconomic area the school is located in.

The school recently sent parents forms to rate and suggest changes to the school and many of them are being implemented. Most of the teachers are very friendly and helpful towards the students.

Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes from parents who's little Johnny or Susie doesn't know how to behave. Mossy Creek is a great school, don't misbehave and the discipline cards are not an issue!! I wouldn't be surprised if all the "sour grape" posts were by the same parent!!
