  I want to disclaim that although this review will be very emotional, it comes from a place of both pain and honesty about what it was like to go there everyday and an authentic perspective of many students there.There's some good qualities of the school going into it, like the aesthetics, location, and a seemingly good education. Overall, this school made most of the students feel very isolated and hurt. It was difficult to ask if my peers were having as hard a time as I was because teachers would be listening around the corner and scold us if we said anything they deemed "disrespectful to the school", including taking about the genuine experiences we were having. I think I saw almost every student at that school be verbally abused and intentionally humiliated by some of the teachers. The environment of the school drew away many students once they transferred and would often transfer out after less than a month.There was one teacher that taught a lot of valuable things for college, but I think you might be able to find parts of that in an AP class at IHS to teach you the same thing without the threat of being expelled every time the teachers thought you were "hurting" the school environment for simple things like one students that got screamed out of the building in front of a whole school meeting for making oatmeal for class. Another student had a one-on-one class (which used to be a full class until the teacher harassed EVERY student but one) with a teacher who was clearly verbally abusive, telling them how terrible they are and should give up on themselves.The school has a very different appearance until you get stuck inside it and you'll likely end up transferring yourself. Last year, all the students but two left, and the same with the year before when only two students stayed too. You get high grades, but low state test scores and will find it hard to both make friends in that environment and find clubs/sports when you are unable to join anything at another school.It felt like homeschooling with a dysfunctional family and a few other students (only three other students in the whole school last year).Many students that left said they had better experiences elsewhere.
