Are experience at this school was awful. The current principal is a bully and likes to talk down to women. His decision are to benefit him. He only cares about the money and not the students. My very young son use to love school and one of his teachers, who is not properly trained broke his spirit.

Worse school ever!!! Principal is no good most teachers have quit in the last year because of leadership. New principal needs some education himself. Too many issues in this school that are concerning. Do not waste your time here.

Worse school ever the principal is arrogant and does not care about the students or parents concerns. Principal Erika Jimenez was the worse also she couldn’t handle any situation. The new principal a year later is also terrible. Parents are extremely unhappy!!! They do not stick to their promises and it’s a catholic school. Look for a better school for you child do not waste your money here.

There was a time in which SJCS was considered the leader of all Catholic schools in the area. That is no longer. With the departure of the former principle Mr. Kim, the leadership and direction of the school has been lost. The new father has already created an unapproachable environment. He is in no way interested in hearing grievances from the parents or parishioners. The “parent” community is outraged at his unwillingness to listen with an unbiased opinion. We have always looked to our fathers for guidance and support however the new father has made it clear that he is not interested in working with or even attempting to understand our families. We do not want a mutiny, we just want to be heard and understood. Our SJCS families deserve better. The new “interim” principle has no experience or ability to lead a school. She has continuously pushed the boundaries of what is acceptable under provisions set forth by health professionals establishing safe procedures during the Covid pandemic. It appears there is very little concern for the safety of the student body as she has shown careless disregard for our children’s safety. The line of communication has been completely severed as she’s demonstrated her lack of leadership by not executing proper judgement. It’s as if she’s on an extreme power trip because of her interim status of being the school’s principal. She has withheld important information with regard to possible Covid exposures at the school and has shown little care or compassion to families seeking the schools assistance in various capacities. The best we can hope for is the Archdiocese step in before we lose more families due to the lack of proper leadership and guidance currently being offered to our school family.

A very nice community with families that I can relate to. They understand working parents and help with early care and after school care. The school has an accelerated Math program in grades TK - 2nd. Amazing to think that they are almost a year ahead in Math compared to other places. I guess it just took someone to challenge our children. We are happy here.

I rated this school 5 stars because this school is a great school. I have a student in 4th grade and one in TK.For my TK Student this is her 1st year attending and she absolutely loves going to school everyday and she says her favorite part of the day is the morning payer. My 4th grader has attended since TK and has learned so much he is a supper speller and is reading above grade level, his math skills are excellent and that is all thanks to the exceptional teachers at this school.NOTE: All school activities and field trips are educational.

My daughter hasn't had any experience dealing with bullying, but I have witnessed the teachers pull parents aside after school to speak to parents about any behavior that needs to be addressed with children the same day of incidents. The teachers are very proactive when it comes to dealing with issues asap that need to be addressed.

Horrifying, Disgusting, and most likely worst than a public school.

SJCS is a fantastic place to work and attend school. I was the 4th grade teacher for the 2017-18 school year and I have to say that this school has the best staff and students by far. Mr. Kim, the principal, and all of the staff go above the expectations in ensuring a safe, educational, and engaging environment for the students. It is a school where the principal and all teachers will watch out for one another and be the most patient and understanding that a person can be. They go out of their way to stay behind or stop in the hallways to make sure that everyone - child and adult - are doing okay in terms of academic and social life. New programs are always being added and the children absolutely adore the events and field trips that are held. I have had such a positive and rewarding experience here at St. John's and I am blessed to have met these wonderful people. My only regret is that I couldn't stay any longer. I was genuinely surprised when I began teaching my kids because they were extremely kind and innocent compared to other students I have met from public schools. Responsibility, self-discipline, and faith had already been developed as 4th grade students; they are a reflection of the hard work from parents and teachers at SJCS. St. John's is truly like one big family. I highly recommend parents to send your children to this amazing school and also highly suggest any interested educators to work here as well. You won't regret it.

The school is truly a family away from home. My son is now in 7th grade, but has been there since 3rd. They help all children feel safe, welcomed and motivated to learn and participate. He has truly thrived here, from being an avg. grade student to all A's, while loving his friends and teachers. Great principal too!

The school creates a small family away from home. My son has attended the school for the past 2 years and I love the way they are patient, willing to communicate and welcoming to parents. I would highly recommend the school to future Cougars seeking a warm and loving environment.

My daughter is enjoying her experience here after transferring from another school. She is excelling in her classes, making friends and also enjoying extra-curricular activities. The principal and teachers are great and the parents are amazing.

My son has had his ups and downs but he is learning so much. Physical and mental maturity is the true measure our children's genius......

As a former graduate of SJCS, I was extremely blessed to have been able to be apart of such an amazing community like this. SJCS has such an amazing faculty and staff, and the principal is outstanding! The teachers are VERY dedicated and kind towards all the students. They offer a variety of sports as well as clubs! I must say that I miss the music programs. It was extremely fun practicing for a Christmas show. I definitely recommend this school to family and friends!

The school is a happy and clean place of worship and learning. Quality of education is high and so are expectation from staff and students. Knowing the sacrifice parents and teachers make to positively impact our children, as a volunteer, I find myself wanting to do more.

My three girls graduated from St. John's. All are college grads and professional women who are still best friends with their former SJCS classmates. This school has very fine, dedicated teachers and a dynamic principal, all committed to high standards. In addition to Common Core curriculum in a faith based community, school boasts a comprehensive sports program, art, music (choral and instrumental, theory and performance), and foreign languages, focusing on Spanish for most grades and Latin or Italian for designated grades.School partners with LMU Place Corps, which produces exceptional teachers. Strong parental involvement, before and after care, and a safe, friendly campus make this a place where a child can build a strong skill foundation, develop talents, make lifelong friends, then go on to the best high schools. Limited financial aid is available, but tuition is competitive with schools in surrounding areas - SJCS costs maybe slightly less. Weekly Mass, instructions in faith and morals (students of all faiths admitted). Great educational bargain!

Institution offers an amazing sense of student nurturing necessary for positive and safe environment conducive to learning. The academic infrastructure requires a bit of work as its not fundamentally structured for student success. For example, mathematics is clearly a task that requires fundamental understanding of one concept before engaging in the next. Its disheartening as a parent , taking the extra steps to ensure your child receives attention / timing to progress is not received academic enthusiasm.

My daughter has been at St. John's for the last 3 years. it is a wonderful school. The teachers are great and the school is making great improvements towards the right direction. Foreign languages are being offered at every single grade level including the transitional kindergarten level. I also have a son in the transitional kindergarten and the teacher is very wonderful. She is very patient and works with the parent when the child is having an issue. I really love all the teachers and I look forward to many more years at St. John Chrysostom.

I have been a part of St. John Chrysostom for five years. When I first arrived, I was welcomed and made to feel a part of a family. The atmosphere was nurturing and inviting. The academics was on point. The teachers challenged my children, but provided support when needed. The school has a new Principal now who brings many exciting and innovative ideas. We offer foreign languages, iRead programs and music instrument instruction. Our athletic department doesn't rely on the normal sports but goes beyond and offers, golf, swimming and karate. I am very proud to be a part of St. John Chrysostom
