My children are in an inclusive environment and it is evident that the adults work with them care about them and push them to be the best versions of themselves.

I absolutely love this school. So much so that while I am doing my house searching, I am making sure we stay in the area because it just feels right. The EP Rock community is wonderful. The teachers are great, my kids HATE missing a day if they are sick, summers are boring for them because they really enjoy being at their school. I can’t think of a single negative encounter here.

We had a hard time with two teachers responding to our concerns on multiple issues. On numerous occasions, our emails went unanswered. Our requests for a conference were denied. When we finally connected with one teacher, he denied our child was confused in math, despite struggling during homework. Another parent mentioned lack of leadership from those in charge...it is very obvious.

When my child was being bullied, the school counselor spoke to her as if it were her fault. I stepped in and told her to stop. To the teacher who says she used to work at E.P. Rock, the principal has never been Dr. Copenbarger.

I am a proud former EP Rock teacher. EP Rocks principal provides exceptional leadership while meeting staff needs and concerns. DR. Coppenbarger (modestly prefers Mrs.) has built a community of trust, respect and a level of encouragement that feeds a teachers internal drive to do more, give more, never stop growing as professionals while nurturing and inspiring our youths passions in life. Mrs Coppenbarger knows the children and their families. She works tirelessly to obtain programs, funding and grants to meet the needs of students and their families. "Doing what is right for every child" is not just an expression it's an expectation that this principal supports. It's not a building that makes for a great education it's the people inside-Which is what you and your child(ren) will find at EP Rock Elementary School.

We decided to pull our child out of this school because of academic issues. Our concerns about him not understanding the work went unanswered for more than a week. Despite failing numerous math tests, his final report card shows a passing grade. The school lacks communication skills.

My children no longer attend EP Rock, but when we moved to Hudson from MN my years of begging for help for my oldest stopped. I was surprised when the school called me and said they could help. I didn't have to call and beg for extra help. He went up 4 levels of reading in 2 years! It was hard work, but everyone at the school wanted him to succeed, including an adult mentor to help him with shyness. I now volunteer with the mentor program and see nothing but positive effort being given to the children. Even the lunch room monitors know the kids' names. My sons are now in middle school, and my oldest is not shy and is doing very well in all his classes. I am so glad we moved here and my children attended EP Rock.

Our family had to move to EP Rock when new boundaries were set due to River Crest. With already having a child in school at Prairie; we did not take to this well. However, we made the move and it was the best thing for not only our daughter that was in 2nd grade, but our son who would be starting school. I became involved as a member of the parent group, and assisting in the school when needed. This is where I saw firsthand what wonderful leadership and teachers Rock had. I was so proud my children were receiving their elementary education here. Being part of the parent group, I worked very close with the principal. I was amazed every day at her passion for the students, and the support she gave to the teachers and parents of the students. The teachers I cannot say enough good about. They always go above and beyond and are true passionate mentors. They too, always have the best interest of the student in mind. My last child will leave EP ROCK this spring, and the reality is I will be very sad. EP ROCK has been a true gift to our family. My children have built many relationships, have wonderful memories, and most importantly both have gained remarkable educations.

Completely agree with the previous review. There is very little leadership from those in charge at this school. The school atmosphere has become increasingly negative. The teachers and activities are top notch. I've known several families that have changed schools in the past three years, mine included, because of the decline in leadership.
