Amazing school; my child loves her teacher! Her teacher communicates with her students parents on what she's seeing with your child, and openly talks about any recommendations for your child's needs. Not only does this one teacher go above and beyond, but I see all the teachers come together to bring the best learning experience for their students.

My grandchildren just completed their first year at North Hudson Elementary having transferred from an excellent school on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The kids, their parents and their super-critical grandfather (me) were very impressed with North Hudson. The school is well organized, the teachers seem to genuinely care about their students and the curriculum interested and challenged my grandchildren. As a long time principal in Minnesota schools, I was concerned how this school would work for my grandchildren, but I am confident North Hudson Elementary School is currently a great school for my loved ones.

We had two children who started at North Hudson from kindergarten. We found that they were not adequately challenged academically, which I believe is a result of teachers being forced into a one-shoe-fits-all approach to teaching. The gifted and talented program was minimal. I believe the biggest reason for North Hudson's poor performance compared to other Hudson schools is discipline. Misbehaving kids are not disciplined - instead, the whole class gets punished for the behavior of one or two students. For example, if two boys are pushing each other around in class, the class recess or popcorn party is cancelled. At lunch time, if kids are "budging" each other around, kids are assigned seats and the girls can't sit next to their friends any more. I believe that this is the policy of the administration, who is trying to avoid confrontations with angry parents. If class discipline was improved, it would demonstrate to the kids that good behavior is acknowledged, and the kids could focus on their classwork.

Wonderful staff that is supportive of the individual needs of each student. Teachers collaborate to work toward common goals and continually build instructional practices. Small enough to feel connected, but maintain high academic and behavioral expectations. I couldn't choose a better school to work for!
