Teachers scream at kids all day and give them lunch detentions for standing up when there’s 8 minutes left in class

I agree with the student having a bit too much homework at night, but I don't feel that it should impact the rating of the school. Homework is given to see what information the child is retaining from that days lessons and also to reiterate what they learned. It's not the school that assigns the homework, it is the teacher. I have absolutely no problem sitting down with my son for an hour or so a night to help him with homework. Just like my career is my job, school is the students 'job'.

We lived in the district for 7 years. I had 2 children attend this school and was not disappointed. It is a top-notch NY school providing a quality education.....incidentally, I am a teacher and I did not teach in the district. Go Homer! We miss you

We moved to the Homer School District a couple of years ago. As many schools in NY state are struggling to incorporate new curriculum standards, I appreciate how the Homer Intermediate School administration is trying to communicate with parents and keep them informed of the many changes to the curriculum. The teachers make themselves accessible to answer questions. So many of the teachers go above and beyond to help their students succeed and truly care about their students.

This is one of the worst schools I have seen. Too much homework, teachers who are out of touch with kids issues, and if you have a sp education child, expect them to just get pushed through because that department is lacking as well. If you can pay to have your children go somewhere else if would be advisable.
